The Space

This is a small, trendy, cute and clean studio that fits right in with the Lower East Side! Everything has been custom built and designed and you will be very comfortable. It is small (200 sq feet) so it is perfect for a couple or two friends travelling. I have a queen-size ottoman style bed and a fold out bench/cot.

Other amenities include wireless internet, flat screen tv, AC and fan, closet, full bathroom, linens and bedding, and full kitchen for cooking.

The location is amazing, 2 blocks from the 2nd avenue stop on the F train and in the middle of all the restaurants, shops and clubs.

I look forward to meeting you!!

p.s. My apartment was in Apartment Therapy's Small, Cool Spaces contest in the Teeny-Tiny Category.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Kara's place for three nights and the experience was fantastic! First off, you can't beat this location. Located in the heart of the Lower East Side, you are literally only 1-2 BLOCKS away from tons of amazing bars and places to eat. We never ran out of options. I suppose the only downside to the neighborhood is it can get loud at nights, but if you're sound sleepers like us, this shouldn't be an issue. Kara did a great job making sure we were all set prior to our trip, and getting the keys was very simple.

The apartment has a fun, quirky aesthetic to it and came with plenty of convenient amenities. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Kara was very helpful in getting everything set up. I've booked the appartment for my sister an her daughter they were pleasantly surprised. The appartment itself is great, very organized, clean and smart furnished! The area is very nice especially the nice pubs down the block. The only bummer was that the internet wasn't working at all but for the rest, highly recommended!

    Response from Kara:

Really glad they enjoyed their stay Esther! I apologize the internet didnt work, I wish they would have let me know! Sometimes the box needs to be unplugged or reset. Welcome back any time!

  • What a great weekend place to stay in NYC! Description = what you get. Kara was quick to respond regarding our late arrival in to NYC and her housekeeper, Barchon, was also very accommodating. The neighborhood is conveniently located to some bars, a great pizza place (NE corner of Stanton and Orchard) as well as only a few blocks away from a nice Whole Foods market. It was so nice to come "home" every evening rather than to a hotel. I provided a few notes and suggestions to Kara concerning lights, the sink, the window unit, etc, and she was helpful in correcting or fixing the issues. Thanks, Kara!

    Response from Kara:

Thanks for the feedback Becca! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We looked in to the whirring noise that you mentioned happened with the AC and it is now not happening. Also called the super so the water leak is being fixed - just normal maintenance that comes with living in an old NYC building. Also fixing the light bulb that went out. Not sure why you needed to make the bed as we have a housekeeper that does that, including changing the sheets and towels. But thanks for the extra effort! :) Welcome back any time. - Kara

  • We had a good stay at Kara's apartment. Kara is really accommodating and communicative, and was able to arrange for us to have a late check-out, although she had guests arriving that day. We really appreciated this effort and it made our last day in NYC much easier! The key pick-up and check-out was as easy as could be.
The location is hard to beat if you want to stay in the Lower East Side. I was really happy to find that many of the places on my list of "things to do in NYC" (places to eat - Katz's Deli, Clinton Street Bakery; bars like The Back Room and The Stanton Social; sights like The Tenement Museum and shops such as Russ & Daughters and American Apparel) were right there within a few streets. It made it so easy to pop out and come back again at leisure.
The flat itself was actually larger than I expected and perfect for two people. It is up a few flights of stairs, but we appreciated the work-out after all the eating we were doing! It's clean and has everything you could need. The ironing board really came in handy for us!

    Response from Kara:

Thanks for your feedback Lucie and glad you enjoyed your stay! Street noise can be a bit of an issues sometimes, as it is the Lower East Side in NYC and it's a happening area. We'll look in to the AC issue - she's been with us for a few years now and as NYC summers get hot she gets good use! We'll look in to getting a new one for this summer, thanks for the tip.

  • Kara was great at communicating both prior and during our stay at her flat. The flat was clean, tidy, and at a great location.
As all others have said, it was quite warm (May), but that was fine with the air con and fan.
The flat is small and cosy, exactly as her description states- Just like a well designed IKEA flat (in a good way!).
Great experience overall and no complaints!

  • Loved the stay in Kara's flat. It is in a great location, really cosy and cute although (as advertised) very small. The area is not the quietest but you should expect that if staying in that part of NYC. The only down side is the heat - the flat is very warm.

Kara is super responsive and helpful. Hope to stay there again!

  • Kara's place was the best I could've hoped for as a solo traveler in NY. The location is PRIME - close to great bars, restaurants, and subway stations. The space itself is small, as advertised, but super cozy and welcoming. The bed was really nice, and the bathroom was clean. I've stayed in other Airbnb's in NY that were really noisy, but I found Kara's place to be mostly quiet and that made it a nice place to relax after a hectic night out or long day. I'm hoping to return in the future!

  • We had a great experience! The apartment is so cute and very comfortable. It was clean and had everything we needed. The location was favorable as bars, restaurants, movies, etc. are in walking distance. Kara was very easy to communicate with, responded in a timely manner, and very accommodating with our travel schedule, delays and all.

  • Place is a little tiny but has a lot of style and was very clean. It's perfect for a couple or a single person.

It's located in the middle of one of the trendiest places in NY, on Orchard street, so there are plenty of things to do.

Kara did a good job at welcoming me, I did enjoy my stay.

  • My niece and I stayed at Kara's flat for a weekend in March. The experience was extremely positive! Kara was very flexible with our arrival/departure times and she was quick to reply throughout the weekend when we needed her. The flat is very conveniently located as well. Overall a very positive experience. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay!
