The space

Nestled into the hillside of Cerro Balcon on the East End of Culebra, Casa Solar is an open air, sustainable, eco-luxury house that combines indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly together and gives you true enjoyment of nature in a remote island paradise. This house, designed by famed architect, John Hix, was configured to take advantage of the cooling gentle Eastern Trade Winds, with open windows and walls. Featuring a beautiful pool steps from the kitchen, dining and living space, this home is exactly what you've been waiting for and reading about experiencing in Culebra.
Mornings boast beautiful sunrises and evenings are glorious with a fantastic array of constellations and stars, unspoiled by light pollution. You will also be able to catch a glimpse of St Thomas just visible over the nearby ridge.
Casa Solar is a 14 minute drive from Dewey, the rustic town of Culebra and is located a mile from Zoni beach, the home to the nesting areas for Leatherback and Hawksbill turtles
This newly built home features absolutely stunning views of the Caribbean from every room. With its modern design, 2 en-suite bedrooms, ample indoor-outdoor living spaces, expansive veranda with a private pool, you will be able to relax in luxury.
Casa Solar sleeps 4 guests maximum, across two suites on the main floor. These identical suites both feature a king-sized bed with views of the ocean, built-in desk/working area and en-suite bathroom including a pass through to private outdoor showers.

Culebra, Puerto Rico
Casa Solar is located in Culebra Island, which is an island off the eastern coast of mainland Puerto Rico. To get to Culebra you will need to fly to Benjamín Rivera Noriega Airport (Culebra Airport) from San Juan Airport, Isla Grande Airport, or Ceiba Airport. After you arrive in Culebra, the home is about 15 minutes from the airport.
Like many others, we were awestruck the first time that we saw Culebra. We felt great vibes immediately. It is the most picturesque Caribbean island we've ever seen. The fact that it has maintained its authenticity is absolutely amazing. It still feels undiscovered even while serving adventure-related tourist activity. There are rental companies providing jeeps, bikes, kayaks, snorkeling equipment, etc. The North East end of Culebra looks out onto Culebrita, an uninhabited islet and nature reserve with stunning beaches, tide pools, sea turtles and a 19th-c. lighthouse. Tranquil trade winds blow onto the shore where tourists, expats and locals mix peacefully and enjoy island vibes together. Time does move slower here.
Flamenco Beach is ranked as one of the top 10 beaches in the world. It is a postcard-perfect stretch of white sand and turquoise waters. This beach is practically wave-less, which makes it ideal for snorkeling, swimming, unwinding, playing in the sand, or simply beach-bumming. Flamenco has amenities such as, lifeguards, camping area, showers, changing rooms and bathrooms, parking area, and kiosks where you can find authentic Puerto Rican food.
Our home is located less than 1km from the most exclusive secluded beach on Culebra. Zoni Beach. You can easily even walk there. The views are intense as it looks directly East to Culebrita and incredibly St. Thomas...Magical!
Resaca and Brava beaches, part of the Culebra National Wildlife Refuge, need to be seen to be believed. We are continually shocked by the stunning, empty beaches of Culebra. It is truly remarkable that this place has been preserved in all its natural beauty. It is the ultimate mixture of relaxation, nature and physical activities, offering the best possible combination of elements to ensure a life-changing vacation experience.
