Amazing apartment!! This is THE place to go if you are looking for a central, big and modern apartment in Vienna. You can walk to all major attractions in the city, it's very easy to get around.
Juergen and Lidiya are great hosts and very nice people. They were very helpful. We also enjoyed talking to them and sharing stories about our mutual family and travels around the world
Wonderful host and beautiful, huge apartment! Juergen and his family were there when I stayed, picked me up at the airport, made me fresh juice and shared food and wine. Great conversations and wonderful to meet some family members! Highly recommended.
Great apartment, ideally located, very cosy, comfortable, and amazing views over the city.
But above all, lovely and friendly hosts!
Our stay in Vienna was wonderful! Jurgen's apartment is beautifully located, beautifully decorated, and a delight to stay in! He shared his wine collection with us, which was nice to drink on the rooftop terrace, and was a delightful host.
We can't wait to return!
Three young, well-traveled seniors, stayed eight days in early May 2013 - paid $ 1764 ($ 220/night) (included cleaning and AirBnB fee).
Pros: Excellent location - three blocks to major public transportation hub. Nice layout, good working elevator, good light, nice cross-breeze (needed since no A/C) but could be hot in summer. The kitchen had many useful condiments and the like. There's a hotpot, toaster, and most of the kitchen appliances worked. Did not use any of the electronics but WiFi worked well. The house 'manual' was a nice touch and helpful. Having a toilet separate from the main bath was a nice touch for busy mornings.
Cons: Apartment had not been cleaned and was filthy in spite of our being assessed for cleaning fee upon departure - very disturbing. The apartment terrace floor, table, and chairs were not only dirty but the concrete paving squares had tall weeds growing between every crack - not at all inviting. The roof terrace had great views but it was not convenient to access and trash was everywhere there, too. European shower (spray wand in a bathtub with no curtain) dangerous for most men as one must lean over as to not hit ceiling and the tub bottom is slippery. Apartment had only three dingy, threadbare towels (pilfered from a collection of hotels!) for three people for eight days - no soap or shampoo. Second bedroom had a hard futon-like bed and no place to hang clothing - neither bedroom had place to set luggage. Freezer in kitchen was inoperative - calls to host's daughter were not helpful. Host claimed it was working before we moved in but it was bone dry (including the ice trays) and appeared that it hadn't been used for some time.
Overall: Given the excellent location, this apartment merits consideration, especially if walking is an issue. The city views, while nice at first, for us wore off quickly due to the inconvenience of going to the shared rooftop terrace (leave the apartment, use key to access door, go up two flights on steel spiral staircase) and the only apartment terrace view is north and away from the city center. The apartment is quite adequate but for the high rent (even for Vienna), more amenities seem required. The host could invest modestly in some decent towels (and provide more of them), toiletries, leave more toilet paper (please!), resolve somehow the safety issue with the tub/shower, and get someone professional to clean the place. I think that even in pricy Vienna, we could have done better for what was provided.
Dear All, who read this... we believe that we have to clarify some issues which have been mentioned:
1. missing our ill cleaning lady, my wife and myself have cleaned the apartment by ourself perfectly.
2. Me in person invited the 3 travellers for a welcome coffee on roof terrace and mentioned that they always can use my terrace ( they only have to share this with my guests of my apartment, 2 great and lovely ladies from Denmark!)
3. terrace had weeds, yes - but is generaly clean, and to this - all is personal taste - we love plants and love a green environment. But now for future guests we put the plants off the terrace as well as invested in new towels.
4. Towels - each guest had 3 towels 80 x 140 cm... shoudl be enough - but I am happy to give more - my neighbour lady would have given them, upon request.
5. Freezer... was and is working... only was unplugged and I sent this information immediately via sms - just guests did not look for the plug.
6. shampoo, soap was full ! We are renting out an apartment and try to fullfull a 4* level - not 5 * hotel ! In Vienna a 4* Hotel has an average pricing between 80 - 140 euro per person... and offers 30 M2... that different to a roof terrace apartment with 80 m2 ( there should be enough space for luggage, etc.... so everybody is invited to compare pricing.
7. overall: I only gave this guests a 3* valuation in cleanliness ( we have been absent, so did not see it personally), because my lovely neighbour Lady cleaned the mass after they left for 2 days ( € 90 for 2 days of cleaning... not to much, I think) - unfortunately she did not take pictures. Next time will do for sure.
Sorry for this - We believe that our other comments speak for themselve and be will be sure, that we take really care in the future for our quality but also will be sure checking on guests ....
Improvement is learning by doing - this for everybody....
We love the airbnb - System and always will try our best ! Be sure about this
Being in Vienna for the first time, it was the perfect place to stay. A beautifull and well equiped appartment, a fantastic roof terrace and located in a nice neighborhood within walking distance to the central city. Juergen is a perfect host, very generous and extremly hospitable. We wouldn't hesiate to go back..
Very, Very Nice Apartment & ideally located near the old area of Vienna. Juergen and his family are very friendly and will guide you to the best places to visit and the local info on all the things in and around Vienna. And of course Mr. Roilo the tomcat is always around to ensure that everything is fine . :-)
We felt that we were staying with friends , and look forward to seeing Jurgen and his family soon.
I would highly recommend this apt. If you are not allergic to cats.
