In the heart of San Telmo, get all the tango and vintage market you want.
Then come home and enjoy the sunlight, sunshine, sunset, sunbath or just... the light!

This beautiful and unique maisonette on three floors has a spacious living room and open plan kitchen on the 14th floor, with a bedroom, bathroom and study on the 15th floor, and a terrace with an amazing 360º view on the 16th floor.
It accommodates a maximum of 4 people: 2 single or 1 double bed upstairs, and a sofa bed for 1 or 2 in the living room. Due to health and safety reasons, children and pets are not allowed.
It has all conveniences: electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine, dinner set, air conditioning, heating, two televisions (one in each floor) with cable upstairs, internet access (+ WI-FI) and VoIP (possibility to make free calls overseas via Internet).
To run errands, a "Carrefour" supermarket is just across the street, and a very nice bakery and fresh fruit shops are in front.
Conveniently located in the heart of old Buenos Aires, it is 100 metres from San Telmo market and at walking distance from the underground and local buses. The classic tango and bohemian atmospheres can be sensed in this area, where you can experience the real “porteño” lifestyle.
Located in the heart of San Telmo, only 80 m away from the main tourist street (Defensa), which becomes a pedestrian street on Sundays. there, where various artists, craftsmen and tourists gather at the rhythm of live music, mainly tango.
Just 400m away is the famous Dorrego square, where the traditional San Telmo flea market takes place.
As an additional reference, Country Km 0 (the Obelisk in Av. 9 de Julio and Av. Corrientes) is 1500 m away.
This flat is unique because of El Viejo Almacén ("The old store"), to be found at the corner of the flat. In 1968, Rivero took over this venue as a refuge for musicians and made the place a "Temple of Tango“. Edmundo Ribero, legend of the Argentine Tango, was the owner of the flat and living in this apartment !
THINGS TO DO IN SAN TELMO at a walking distance from the flat :
(you'll find thousand of things, but here is OUR selection ;-)
In San Telmo, you are in the heart of bohemian and artistic lifestyle. Historically, San Telmo is famous for the rugged street fighting that took place when British troops invaded the city in 1806. That's when Defensa Street takes that name : women and slaves pouring cauldrons of boiling oil and water from the rooftops of the street.
At the corner of Carlos Calvo and Bolivar, the Mercado San Telmo (1897) is still a functioning fruit and vegs market, its interior is more spacious than the modest entrance would suggest.
At Defensa and Humberto Primo, Plazza Dorrego hosts the famous week-end flea market, the feria de San Telmo. The best time to go is on Sundays. Any other night in summer, there is always a show.
Feria San Pedro Telmo (Fería del Domingo)
Every Sunday, we love to go to San Telmo's central square (at the corner of the flat when you take Defensa street), Plaza Dorrego. Hundreds of stalls sell antique dolls, soda siphons, jewellery, tango memorabilia and other collectibles. Plaza Dorrego still evokes something of the spirit of old Buenos Aires. Then we have a beer and we admire the tango dancers performing under the sun.
Tango at El Viejo Almacén (Esquina Av. Independencia y Balcarce, just on your left hand side when you pop out the building)
If you want more than the shows in Plaza Dorrego, treat yourself a pure tango show at El Viejo Almacén. In 1968 singer Edmundo Rivero (who lived in the apartment!) took over this venue as a refuge for musicians and, as a plaque on the doorway states, 'those who have lost their faith'.
Restaurant El Desnivel (Defensa 855).
Some love it, some fin it too "popular"! But for us, it's a great great parilla (BBQ) place. And a very good quality for the price, even though it's not as cheap as it used to be. The Penguinitos (little jugs) of the house red are great (website hidden) Café Picadas La Poesía (Chile 502)
For a peaceful and intimate moment, sharing a glass of wine or just reading a book. Just let yourself impregnate of the 1960’s when socialist writers and San Telmo intellectuals were gathering there. It was also here that the Uruguayan poet and lyricist, Horacio Ferrer, mostly known for his work with Astor Piazolla, met the woman who remains his wife to this day, Lucía Micheli. The meeting is immortalized in his 1992 song, Lulú.
Ice Cream ! You have a Freddo and Persicco on Defensa Street. It's a place you will love for the quality and deliciousness of the ices creams. But we no longer go there, for we found an artisanal ice cream maker in SUMO (Av. Indepemdencia 797, 10 mn walking from the flat towards the tube). For us the quality is even better, and maybe twice cheaper!
Last but not least, our favourite restaurant in San Telmo : CASEROS (Avenida Caseros 486, entre Bolívar y Defensa)
Simple but flavoursome food, of a very good quality as well. The unpretentious, shabby chic French country decor adds to the sense of dining in a much-loved, cosy family kitchen.

The doorman Gustavo is here during the week.
Otherwise, you can either wait for someone to get in or out (the building is very busy) or we will come and open the door for you.
Interaction with Guests
We don't live in Buenos Aires, but we will always make sure everything will be easy for you.
Blessed with cobblestoned streets, a crumbling, faded grandeur, an amazing weekly street market and many good places to eat and drink, San Telmo is a Buenos Aires barrio that simply cannot be missed.
6 blocks from Plaza de Mayo, bounded to the north and south by the Microcentro and La Boca, and to the east and west by Puerto Madero and Avenida 9 de Julio. It’s the oldest barrio in Buenos Aires.
Taxi, bus, Tube Linea C : stop Independencia (10-15mn walk)
From the Airport, you can use a registered taxi (never take a black cab!)
Otherwise, from the Aeropuerto Ministro Pistarini / Ezeiza you can take a bus from the Tienda Leon, that will take you to Puerto Madero. From there, you can take a cab for 2km that will take you to the flat.

Other Things to Note
Make sur the 2 doors of the old lift are properly closed otherwise, it won't move. Believe us, climbing 14th floors makes the workout !
Tenants should conduct themselves in a manner that doesn’t unreasonably disturb other tenants or neighbours. No parties or loud music. No kids or pets, and please be safe on the terrace !
Located in the heart of Saint Telmo. All the district highlights like Plaza Dorrego, Avenida Chila, Sunday fleamarkt in nearby area.
The view from the roof terrace is incredible. Flat is quite spaciuos and offers the most important equippment on basic level. Washing mashine in the flat is a plus!
The host very nice and gave us some advice before our stay.
We stayed in the apartment for over 1 week and it was perfect. Incredible location in San Telmo, really well kept and a beautiful roof terrace that my husband and I spent most afternoons on. Also at very late notice we wanted to arrive a couple of days early and LuzSid completely accommodated this, and even though we arrived at 2.30am in the morning someone was at the apartment to meet us. I would definitely recommend for anyone to stay there.
Extremely friendly, responsive hosts. Located in up and coming San Telmo close to fantastic Plaza Dorrego and the Sunday fair. Close to great food (Desnivel, Sumo). Easy walk to Puerto Madero. 10 minute walk to subte makes getting around the entire city easy despite being a bit south east of city center. Full grocery store two blocks away for easy pickup of toilet paper, other essentials. The flat is a bit minimal but combats that by being sunny, bright, and having spectacular views. We enjoyed beers on the private roof nightly. The street 14 stories below manages to somehow be a bit noisy even at that height but nothing extraordinary. The lift for the building was broken for a couple days which was obviously outside of Luz and Sid's control but be aware if you have trouble with stairs as the possibility of climbing 14 flights exists! We just used the extra burned calories to eat more steak and ice cream. Bonus points for wifi and a washing machine - it was lovely being able to do some laundry. Overall, a great value and Luz and Sid are awesome.
LuzSid were lovely hosts, very flexible, friendly and helpful.
The apartment was as beautiful as on the pictures with a lot of nice details. The flat was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. The view from the apartment and roof top terrace was amazing.
The neighborhood San Telmo is very creative. We felt very comfortable in our holidays there and enjoyed our stay a lot.
Vero was extremely friendly and flexible when we could not make our first night, the apartment was amazing; spacious, clean, and in a terrific spot. When we exited the buildings, we could see tourists getting dropped off in cabs at our cross streets. A block away from a great steak shop, right on Defensa with the sunday market (and later drums that had entire streets filled and dancing), Plaza Dorrego with tango dancing and outdoor cafes, the beautiful antiques in the nearby indoor market, and a short walk to Puerto Madero.
We would not have seen enough of San Telmo if we did not stay here.
We enjoyed our stay here and the listing was accurate. The apartment was spacious, clean, and centrally located. The neighborhood is very funky and eclectic. It was easy for us to get to Recoleta, Palermo, and Puerto Madero from the apartment. The Sunday flea market in San Telmo is also only one block away, which was nice to have right outside our door! We loved the rooftop! It was beautiful to sit up there at night and have a glass of wine. If you are staying here with multiple guests, it was nice to have the loft space upstairs for two people and then one or two people could sleep comfortably downstairs. The apartment also has two TVs, Wifi, AC, laundry machine, and dishwasher which was great. You must go to La Brigada, Aconcagua, Desnivel, and Brasserie Petanque when you are in Buenos Aires - these are great restaurants just a few blocks away.
A fantastic location in Buenos Aires! The Sunday market in San Telmo is most definitely a must...loads of vendors selling everything from handmade jewelry, music, art and of course food! The apartment is close to great restaurants, cafes, ice cream shops, the metro and the city tourist bus stop. A short ten minute walk will take you to Puerto Madero and the Eco Reserve where you can walk and run along the different trails close to the water.

LuzSid is a couple passionnate about travelling.
Sidonie (French) + Luciano (Argentinian) = couple living between London and Buenos Aires.
In both countries we are into Tango : dancing and organizing milongas.
Even our flat has an history of tango ! The previous owner founded the now famous Tango Bar El Viejo Almaden, just nextdoor, where now people come for a fancy night of tango show !
So we hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do :-)
Bon voyage !
