Mej was great and very accommodating. It was fun just to hang out there. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely consider staying again!
I stayed 5 nights at Mejai's place. The overall experience is good. The place is really close to the public transport and the center (5 min wlaking distance to the train and then 10 min to the Loop). The room is located in the basement with a window, has its own toilett/bath and it's definitely worth its price. One disadventege was that it is just next to a kind of heat pump which turns on every 30 min but with good earplugs it works fine.
It was my first time staying in Chicago for a work related conference nearby Mejai's place. my experience was great. The location was accessible to many areas of Chicago by bus, train, or cab. Mejai was very accommodating to any of my needs. The room was a spacious simple room with a queen bed, sufficient blankets, dresser, closet, lamps, heater (it was definitely needed for the winter chill) and my private bathroom was right next door. I came & went as I needed & he never interfered. I appreciated the amount of privacy given and he was genuinely a pleasant host. Thank you so much for sharing your home & hope to see you on my next trip to chicago!
Booked this room last minute, and was surprised to have been approved. Room is in basement portion of brownstone, very secluded, private bath, delivers what it promises. It's nearest cross street is 35th at King Drive(if you're a local or know one) and was a 5-8 minute walk from 35th/ITT train stop. Would totally stay again.
Mejai answered questions as they arose, and was always within phone reach. A hop, skip or a jump from Hyde Park and the Loop. Great deal and no complaints!
Thanx Mejai see you on my journey back!
Mejai is a very friendly and accommodating host. Comfortable room with good privacy in a convenient location for a great price.
Mejai continues to be a geat host. We have stayed there, now, several times, & it is always a delight to see what people are there from what countries around the world. This time was no different. Mejai is very flexible & very helpful.
Mejai is helpful and goes out of his way to care for his guests. For instance, the light on my car went out and he took me to a mechanic to get it fixed. He also had bikes available, which he allowed us to use. We had a nice experience at Mejai's place. :)
Mejai's place is in walking distance to a "El" station, that takes you straight to the loop. Since he is hosting more people simuntaniusly,
we saw new faces quite often when entering the kitchen. However, we never felt disturbed since our room was in the basement.
It was pleasantly cool down there during the first hot days. Later it got a bit chilly when the weather changed and the air conditioning was still turned on.
Mejai’s place was comfortable and convenient. The house rules are not too strict (no loud music after 9pm) and we were able to come and go as we pleased. The entrance to the house is with a code, so there was no need to worry about a key. The room was spacious, clean and very private. Having our own bathroom was definitely a plus. The train station is about a 7-8 minute walk from the house, which is not too bad. The neighborhood is ok, although not the best part of town, there were usually numerous police officers around, which makes you feel safer. Mejai was also accommodating to our travel schedule and allowed us to leave our luggage prior to check-in time as well as past check-out time.
While I didn't get to meet Mejai, there were several other folks staying there from different parts of the US and beyond and I liked that a lot. Conversations with travelers is always great. The room was private and I could relax there. Thank you Mejai!
