Wow, we had such a wonderful time in this airbnb. Ana was lovely and helped us find the best places to visit in Maui. The room was perfect for two people and had all of the amenities we needed for our stay. We were trying not to break the bank of food so we cooked about half of our meals in the apartment and had all of the cooking equipment we needed (pots, pans, hotplate, microwave, water boiler).
If you're thinking about skipping the resort scene (which I highly recommend) then Paia is the place for you. There are some great restaurants, a few shops, an incredible natural foods store, and easy beach access. It's also a great central location to access all of the island.
Ah, I can't say enough nice things about this place and Ana. Truly a gem. :) Mahalo!
Ana was a most friendly host, and greeted us shortly after our arrival at the property. She gave us excellent advice on spots in Maui to explore, and without her, we likely would never have found our favorite beach in Makena State Park, which was a 30 minute drive. The property is at the end of a short unpaved road off Hana Highway, and bordered on two sides by extensive sugar cane fields. It's barely 20 minutes by car from the airport, and a few minutes to the modest offerings in the town of Paia, which include a public beach, a few restaurants, at least one excellent coffee shop, a health food/grocery store, and various small storefronts. The studio is on the ground floor of a multi-room building at the back of the property, behind the main house. We found our room clean and well stocked with linens and most of the kitchen supplies we needed, though we did end up securing our own Melitta coffee brewer. There are two windows on the front wall only which permit only limited sunlight and breeze, but the pedestal fan in the room might provide enough air circulation for other occupants. The studio is best suited for a single occupant, and we did feel a bit cramped at times, but this only encouraged us to spend most of our time discovering Maui.
We had an *amazing* time in Maui! Thank you Ana for the beautiful studio. You really thought of everything - extra sheets, lots of towels, plates, silverware, private parking and even a washing machine! We felt so at home we almost didn't leave ;) You and Juan are super friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back! Mahalo!! xoxo
We had such a lovely time in Maui. Ana was a superb host and we would absolutely recommend her and her location. Ana was extremely helpful and went above and beyond an airbnb host.
Hope to come back soon!
This was a FANTASTIC and well appointed studio in a great location for travel around Maui. Ana was a terrific host, responsive and helpful, and has created a very homey and private space for travelers. We'll be back!
Ana was a lovely host. Very friendly on check in/out. She gave me some recommendations for places to eat in r Paia, which were all good. The room/studio itself is about a mile from Pa'ia town, so you could probably walk it, though I never did. It's small and a little dark, and there's no nice outdoor area for sitting out, as the owner has left a lot of their furniture piled up outside. And when there's people in the room above you, it's quite noisy. Relatively minor quibbles though, and Ana makes an effort to decorate the room with fresh flowers to make it welcoming. I'd stay again.
It was nice to have you around. Thanks one more time for your stay with us!
The studio can be lighter or darker depend on the time of the year, as the sun light move around the year and we just have the 2 front windows as you could see in our ad pictures. If the curtains keep open sure it will be lighter inside. We don't mention any outdoor area in our ad but the owner will do a renovation at the end of september, which will cover his deck area, that the guests was using before when he was not here and we will have a small outdoor area with a table and chairs for both downstairs studio. I will add the pictures here in the airbnb when it is ready. For the upstairs rental, that normally we rent for only two people in order to keep the downstairs quiet, we do have a policy for the guests upstairs to keep the place quiet before 9am and after 9 pm. I am sorry you were disturbed with that . I will be happy to talk with them and remind them our rules if anyone from downstairs is disturbed.
It was lovely meeting you and you are welcome back anytime !
Wish you all the best in life :-)
If you're looking for a place to sleep at night after exploring the island all day, this absolutely works. It's a quiet studio in a residential area. It's a 2-3 minute drive to the restaurants and shops in Paia (you can walk it, although it's a little over a mile and the Hana Highway isn't the most pedestrian-friendly of roads). Ana was very easy to work with, and we had a fine time.
Ana is very helpful and accessible. Expect simple and petite yet with everything you will need for the kitchen. Laundry and dryer is close at hand as well. Two burner hot plate. Paia is a great jumping point for adventures in all directions on Maui, and we were happy to be out of the tourist zone. The big Aloe plants outside the room were also very helpful for treating our burns!!
We stayed at Anas studio in January 2013. The Studio is super nice and clean and Ana prepares it with a love of detail (fresh flowers, nice decoration etc.) Ana is always helpful and nice to get along. We would recommend her place to anybody wanting to stay at Maui.
Everything about this studio was perfect! It was clean, cozy, and it's in a great location - very convenient to Paia, nearby beaches, and it's right on the Hana Highway. I'd say the space is ideal for one person, but is definitely shareable for two people. The fridge, cooking supplies, coffee machine and the hotplate were definite perks - saved a lot of money by cooking meals in the studio. AND to top it all off, Ana was a wonderful hostess. She was flexible about my late arrival time (didn't get to the studio until around 9:30pm) and also about the departure time on my last morning, and otherwise was completely warm and friendly. I would definitely stay here again if I get the chance to come back any time soon!
