The Space

Spacious and private, self contained studio apartment (with separate street entrance!) in inner city Melbourne suburb of Brunswick. A short walk to cafes, shops, pubs and bars of Brunswick, close to Fitzroy, Carlton, Northcote and Thornbury.

Also close to the freeway from Melbourne airport (Tullamarine) making it convenient & easy for international visitors.

I provide as much as possible (towels, soaps, hairdryer, umbrella, internet, TV, air-con, full bedding, Myki smartcards, tea & coffee, milk, bottle of wine, pack of Tim Tams biscuits, etc :) so you can travel very light.

The Studio Apartment
A new, furnished, freestanding studio apartment in the backyard of my house in Brunswick. Has a separate street entrance so you have complete independence - come and go as you please. Newly built with very high green credentials, it is really cozy and warm.

It accommodates 2 people and is very quiet. (A couple of people have commented that its bigger than it looks in the photos :) A third person can stay on a single mattress that I can set up ($25 a night extra).

Studio has a basic kitchen - bar fridge, single gas burner , microwave oven, sink, however you are very welcome to use the full kitchen & laundry inside the house :)

With reverse cycle air-conditioning, it is very clean with modern bathroom, toilet and a very comfy queen size bed.

Also has wireless internet and big screen TV.

Car parking permit for 1 car (on the street) is provided.

Environmentally Sustainable
The studio apartment has been built in an environmentally sustainable way, with the following 'green' features
- extremely good insulation
- electricity from 100% green sources
- solar hot water
- double glazed windows

Also, there is a large deck for afternoon drinks (or any other time for that matter :)

There is a separate street entrance to the studio, so you can come and go as you please without coming through the house.

The Location
Brunswick is bursting with cafes, night-life, restaurants (Thai, Indian, Japanese, Lebanese, Greek, lots more) within 5 minutes walk.

Brunswick is a student area which makes it vibrant and youthful (that's why I live here - lol). However, the studio apartment is quiet as it is off the main strip.

Melbourne University is an easy bike or tram ride. There are trams to the city (20mins by tram), RMIT, Carlton within a couple of mins walk.

Community Garden
About 30 meters down the street is the local Community Garden - a very sweet place to hangout or just lay on the grass and read a book.

Very close to:
- public transport (trams 1 & 8, & trains). Tram to city is 5 min walk,
- restaurants, cafe's, bars.
- many specialty shops close, and large supermarket 10 mins walk
- and if you are a shopper, Sydney Road is the longest shopping strip in Australia, with lots of interesting shops of all descriptions.

Also, you are very welcome to jump on the bike and go for a ride. There is 1 bike here that you are welcome to use. (If need another, the bike shop around the corner does daily & weekly rentals). Melbourne has great bike paths, and one of the main ones is very close

If you have your own bike, storing it in the back yard is fine :)

Public Transport
I provide 2 Myki travel SmartCards for you to use on the Melbourne Public Transport system - this saves you the hassle of registering your own.
Easy - just use my cards, and top them up when you leave :)

Public Transport is very close.

Feel free to ask lots of questions - very happy to answer them :)

I look forward to you coming to stay.

Best Regards

Check In
  • The apartment is nice and well equipped. it's 5 min walk to the tram and 20-30 min to the centre. It's very close to Melbourne Zoo as well. Anthony provided us with a very nice welcome pack and was very kind. He also has a very nice little courtyard with mint and lemons and it's lovely in the Community Garden as well. We would definitely stay again! Thank you, Anthony!

  • Staying at Anthony's was great. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, and included everything you could possibly need, right down to his personal sightseeing guide and a pair of bus passes. Can't imagine a better home base from wifi to explore Melbourne. Thanks Anthony!

  • The apartment is cosy, as described, and in a wonderful position for travellers who want to enjoy close proximity to Melbourne, and some wonderful cafés, markets and public transport. Anthony made us very welcome, providing us with 'extras' (Tim Tams and food basics) . Unfortunately we found it a little difficult because my husband uses a walking frame, and the lane-way to the entrance is not paved and dark at night, and with so many cafés close by, parking within 2 blocks was impossible from Thurs. To Sunday evenings. The cosiness of the layout did not allow for easy movement for my husband, considering his walking disability, but would be good for the more able bodied.

  • if you like to stay in a cool part of the town, and still want to enjoy some quiet cosiness: this is the place to be.
anthony is a lovely host and the studio is much more charming and spacious then on the pictures.there is a tram, and hip shops nearby, no car necessary.
we wanted to stay longer, but it was already booked (website hidden) an early bird with this one...

  • Anthony's studio is simply the best kind of accomadation we could ask for.
The studio is clean, has lots of light, equipped with anythig we needed (in the kitchen, boxes for kids toys, great TV, great internet).
Anthony puts all kind of food for free use which is great since as travellers we cant carry spices and things like this.

The neighbourhood is fantastic: many great restaurants, shops. Supermarket and shopping mall are also very close. The nost importnat thing- tram to city center is 3 minutes walking from the house.

Anthony is great host: always available for any kind if help we needed and gave us full space to feel as if we are at our own home.

On the bottom line: we'll be happy to come again next time we are in Melbourne (in the best case few years...) and we highly reconmend this studio for anyone arriving to Melbourne.

  • Staying with Anthony couldn't have been easier. Clear instructions and a really friendly host. The studio is private and lovely. We would definitely stay again.

  • Anthony was very accommodating, making himself available to welcome and settle me in to his self contained studio. The studio was a "home away from home" - had everything needed and was very comfortable. The separate entrance was great enabling me to come and go without feeling I was disturbing my host. The parking permit and parking spaces were really helpful. Would definitely stay again.

  • Really nice apartment! Lovely atmosphere, clean and great location. Was close to lots of restaurants and cafes. Anthony was a great host, really nice and provided things such as timtams, fresh fruit, bread and milk. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend :-)

  • We had a great time staying at Anthony's place. He accommodated our needs and was extremely flexible. Its in a great location, extremely easy to catch a tram into the city and even within walking distance (3km) to Brunswick St Fitzroy if you want to stretch your legs and take in the leafy scenery. The apartment is a lot bigger than i anticipated and Anthony supplies everything you need to be comfortable. We were also lucky enough to catch a band gig right next door in the community garden. There is an abundance of amazing a short stroll away. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is wanting to experience more than just want the city has to offer.

  • I had a great stay over 3 days. The studio is in an excellent location close to many major thoroughfares and shopping/dining areas, though it is very quiet. Anthony was very helpful, suggesting some options for dining out. The pantry is also well stocked with cooking staples. And the inclusion of the Myki cards for public transport made it one less thing to worry about. The complimentary items he provided were a real treat. Highly recommended.

Hello - my name is Anthony and I live in Brunswick, Melbourne. I am a musician and engineer and interested in finding solutions to climate change. In my music work, I love singing, playing bass and performing. I do everything from performing at weddings to busking (which I love). I also enjoy traveling and exploring cities of the world, whether in Australia or overseas (Europe especially beguiling - London, Paris, Berlin - wow). I am pretty relaxed and easygoing, don't smoke, am neat and pretty quiet :) Also, I have many interests, and tend to go out a lot of the time, rather than being house-bound. AirBnB says to include a Life Motto ..... well, I like this one..... "Find something you love doing and you'll never work a day in your life" Best Regards Anthony
