Spacious and private, self contained studio apartment (with separate street entrance!) in inner city Melbourne suburb of Brunswick. A short walk to cafes, shops, pubs and bars of Brunswick, close to Fitzroy, Carlton, Northcote and Thornbury.
Also close to the freeway from Melbourne airport (Tullamarine) making it convenient & easy for international visitors.

The Studio Apartment
A new, furnished, freestanding studio apartment in the backyard of my house in Brunswick. Has a separate street entrance so you have complete independence - come and go as you please. Newly built with very high green credentials, it is really cozy and warm.
It accommodates 2 people in a very very comfy queen size bed (with King size duvet/quilt!). A fold out bed can be provided for an extra guest - inquire for details.
The Studio is very quiet, and some people have commented that its bigger than it looks in the photos.
Studio has a basic kitchen - bar fridge, single induction cooker, microwave oven, sink.
You are very welcome to use the full kitchen & laundry inside the house if you need more :)
With reverse cycle air-conditioning, it is very clean with modern bathroom, toilet and a very comfy queen size bed, and comfy fold out bed.
Also has wireless internet and big screen TV.
Car parking permit for 1 car (on the street) is provided.
The studio apartment has been built in an environmentally sustainable way, with the following 'green' features
- extremely good insulation
- electricity from 100% green sources
- solar hot water
- double glazed windows
Also, there is a nice deck for afternoon drinks (or any other time for that matter :)
There is a separate street entrance to the studio, so you can come and go as you please without coming through the house.
Brunswick is bursting with cafes, night-life, restaurants (Thai, Indian, Japanese, Lebanese, Greek, Italian (holds world record for "Best Martguerita") & lots more) within 5 minutes walk.
Brunswick is a student area which makes it vibrant and youthful (that's why I live here). However, the studio apartment is quiet as it is off the main strip.
Melbourne University is an easy bike or tram ride. There are trams to the city (20mins by tram), RMIT, Carlton within a couple of mins walk.
About 30 meters down the street is the local Community Garden - a very sweet place to hangout or just lay on the grass and read a book.
Very close to:
- public transport (trams 1 & 8, & trains). Tram to city is 5 min walk,
- restaurants, cafe's, bars.
- many specialty shops close, and large supermarket 10 mins walk
- and if you are a shopper, Sydney Road is the longest shopping strip in Australia, with lots of interesting shops of all descriptions.
Also, you are very welcome to jump on the bike and go for a ride. There is 1 bike here that you are welcome to use. (If need another, the bike shop around the corner does daily & weekly rentals). Melbourne has great bike paths, and one of the main ones is very close
If you have your own bike, storing it in the back yard is fine :)
I can loan you 2 or 3 Myki travel SmartCards for you to use on the Melbourne Public Transport system - this saves you having to buy your own (they cost $6 each)
You can simply add credit and use mine - easy :)
Public Transport is very close (both trams & trains).
Feel free to ask lots of questions - very happy to answer them :)
I look forward to you coming to stay.
Easy going overall, but no wild drinking sessions/parties - I have very nice neighbors and don't like to annoy them :)
Also, no candles (just too dangerous).
Anthony was there to greet us on arrival and was wonderfully welcoming - the fridge was well stocked as was the fruit bowl and he had 2 tram cards for us to use. The room had everything you could want, cosy, comfy bed and great shower. Also surprisingly quiet for centre of city. We had a good stay.
Anthony us an excellent host, extremely helpful and approachable.
The studio is in a great spot, literally a couple of minutes off lygon and it has everything you need + more.
Anthony has put such care into this apartment, its fantastic. Everything was clean and well maintained. The apartment is packed with so many things that you might need for a stay in Melbourne.
Anthony was so accommodating and even helped us get a special chair for my father.
Lovely host and apartment.
This is like a home away from home. I felt so welcomed with Cheese and Crackers waiting for me, a bottle of wine, breakfast cereals, and a wonderful quiet neighbour to nestle down into after a hard days work. Thank you Anthony for making me so welcome and comfortable.
Anthony was a great host! His communication before we arrived was immediate and he gave very helpful advice in getting around Melbourne. When we did arrive Anthony made us feel very welcome and right at home. Everything we could have needed was thought of - the kitchen was stocked with fruit, cereal, a loaf of bread, tea, coffee, milk, etc. and he even left wine and Tim Tams for us. The bathroom is modern with a great shower and essentials like soaps, shampoo and towels are provided. The bed is large and comfortable. The studio is very conveniently located near Sydney Road (great for shopping), Lygon Street (great for eating) and it is only a 20 minute tram ride to the CBD. Anthony was very friendly and approachable and it was overall a great stay. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Anthony was a brilliant host. He made my partner and I feel very welcome and we felt instantly at home. The apartment has everything you need for your stay, whatever the duration, and is located in a cool area of Brunswick - perfect for cafes, bars, restaurants and a great choice of supermarkets nearby. It also had fantastic transport links direct in to the city - taking around 20-30 minutes to get into the heart of Melbourne.
Anthony provided bread and milk for breakfast, as well as some other essentials for throwing light lunches or dinners together - such as olive oil and balsamic vinegar. There was also a bottle of wine on offer, if we wanted to indulge! While you wouldn't be able to throw together huge feasts, there was a hob, microwave, toaster and kettle available, which were great for putting together simple meals.
We found Anthony to be incredibly friendly and approachable, and he just left us to get on with things, but making sure to check in with use during our stay to make sure we were happy. The "chalet" (as we liked to call it) was a great space, and perfect for relaxing in. The bed was very comfy, and the shower was fantastic. It had every you need after exploring the city all day. I would happily stay again, if he'd have us.
Anthony was the perfect host. All communication was dealt with immediately and all his instructions were perfectly clear and very helpful. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and during our 4 night stay, Anthony made sure that everything was ok and that we lacked nothing. He even had transport cards available for our use. The studio was extremely well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a great shower. All in all this was an excellent place to stay and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. It will be our number one choice of accommodation next time we're in Melbourne.
Hello - my name is Anthony and I live in Brunswick, Melbourne.
I am a musician and engineer and interested in finding solutions to climate change.
In my music work, I love singing, playing bass and performing. I do everything from performing at weddings to busking (which I love).
I also enjoy traveling and exploring cities of the world, whether in Australia or overseas (Europe especially beguiling - London, Paris, Berlin - wow).
I am into sustainability, pretty relaxed and easygoing, don't smoke, am neat and pretty quiet :)
Also, I have many interests, and tend to go out a lot of the time, rather than being house-bound.
AirBnB says to include a Life Motto ..... well, I like this one..... "Find something you love doing and you'll never work a day in your life"
