I have been regularly visiting Paris for over 10years now and Rue Cloche-Perce is by far one of the best apartments I have stayed in. The location is perfect for a short or long term visit as it is right in the middle of Le Marais. Both Sylvain and Dominique were wonderful hosts and were quick to respond to my emails. The apartment itself is clean, warm and well equipped with all things needed for a stay in Paris. I would definitely recommend staying here and hope to be back very soon.
The reservation was canceled 108 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Thank you, Sylvain and Dominique, for our wonderful stay in the Marais. The apartment was lovely, and very well located for everything we needed.
We stayed for 2 weeks and found the apartment met our requirements very well. The location is excellent. There must be 50 cafes within a few minutes walk! The St Paul Metro stop is just 5 minutes away. There are also 2 velib (bicycle) stations less than a minute away.
I would have used the velib to get around but my Wife didn't like the idea. Bicycle is definitely the best way to get around in this area. I am a keen cyclist and did laps from Place de La Bastille to Place de La Conconde for some exercise.
The apartment is certainly not spacious but it is comfortable. It is quite noisy outside but as soon as you close the windows it is very quiet. It has squeaky floor boards, so did most of the museums we visited, it is just part of living in old buildings.
It is on the first floor so not too far to haul the bags.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for couples.
The apartment is definitely smaller than it looks in the pictures, but the location is excellent - great neighborhood and easy access to the metro. The Marais is such a lovely area that it's worth staying in a small apartment in order to have quick access to all the cafes and restaurants.
I stayed at Sylvain's place for a weekend. It is lovely and convenient. The flat is small, but has everything you might need - from a dishwasher to hair dryer.
The location is amazingly convenient - you are steps away from the river and all the places the tourist might want to visit - you save a lot of time compared to staying at hotels elsewhere. This comes at a price - costs at the nearest restaurants are high. Expect bills of about EUR 40-50 for a lunch for two persons. This won't be an issue if you decide to cook yourself, though. Monoprix and couple of other supermarkets are almost at a doorstep and even work on Sunday mornings (unbelievable for France, but true).
- walls are thin and the ppl above like loud and passionate sex
- there is ADSL line in the flat, it is plain slow - see (website hidden)(phone number hidden).png - and the connection just dies in the evenings when the ISP fails to cope with demand of all users. I had to use roaming 3G connection to complete online checkin since AirFrance's website just wasn't loading over WiFi - and it did cost me.
- the bed is a few inches shorter than it should be and cries out quite a bit when you try to compete with the sounds from above floor with your own ;)))
- I'd love to have more bath towels - not just two.
My overall opinion is positive - staying there was better than in a hotel and definitely provided more flexibility. Recommended.
Thank you Alexander for your positive review and recommendation! For your information there are many little brasseries rue Francois Miron (adjacent to the flat) where you could have lunched for 15 euros per person. Fuxia for example is an excellent Italian kitchen that offers a lunch menu for 14 euros. Apologies the Internet was a bit slow during your stay - the provider (DartyBox) is amongst the most popular in France - connection is usually pretty fast and I must say none of the previous guest has never had any issue with Internet in the past. Sorry if I do not comment on the rest of your review - but I will leave the Airbnb community balance with the history of the 35 previous positive reviews of the flat! Everybody seems to sleep well rue Cloche Perce:) Sylvain
We had a great stay in Paris. the apartment has plenty of features that made our stay successful. The location, as everyone has said, is really ideal. You can get anywhere close in to the city center quickly and encourages walking which helps counter all the extra calories you will inevitably encounter. The other features we appreciated were excellent communication with Sylvain and Dominique (who met us at the flat) the quiet of the apartment, very good strong shower with lots of hot water, convenient clothes washer and dishwasher. The bath is very nicely designed even thought cozy in size. There were a few things we thought could have been improved on considering the price we paid and those were the size of the apt (airbnb photos always make a place look a lot bigger), it was a little dark, the floor very squeaky (night time trips to the toilet woke up the other guests) and that the mattress could have been more comfy.
That said, we had only booked 3 weeks in advance so we were happy to find a place to stay and really, in Paris, it is hard to have a bad time. The apartment is in a very old, quaint, rustic building, so you can forgive the quirkiness in the context of the charm. Overall we would definitely recommend staying here.
As one of the other reviews said, if you're looking for a cute and comfortable place to stay in the perfect location in Paris, stop looking - this is the one.
Sylvain's apartment is charming, cozy and beautiful. Despite the proximity to busy streets it's incredibly quiet when the windows are closed. It's a little small but the two of us stayed for a week and the size really didn't bother us at all. It's certainly a tradeoff worth making to stay in such a good location.
The apartment is in a perfect spot in Le Marais, one of the best areas in Paris. It is surrounded by great restaurants, bars, bakeries and shopping in a maze of cute streets. We loved the atmosphere and vibrancy of the area, so much so that we barely left Le Marais for much of our trip! When we did though it was so easy - 5 min walk to Notre Dame and other popular tourist sights, and only a few hundred meters from the nearest Metro station (St Paul).
We highly recommend the bakery at the end of the street from the apartment - everything there is good. There is a tiny place called Comme A Lisbonne (on the other side of Rue de Rivoli) that makes delicious custard tarts and great espresso. For dinner, we can not recommend Chez Julien highly enough - the chateaubriand was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Le Trumilou was also very good - traditional french cuisine surrounded by locals.
Altogether we loved our stay here and can't wait to come back.
The apartment was lovely and clean. The sounds from the streets were well isolated. The location was absolutely brilliant, close-by in Marais we found many great bars, restaurants, clothes stores, galleries, vintage shops, even parks and playgrounds for our toddler. So, the neighborhood was really charming. Of course, it was so close to Seine, Quartier Latin, Louvre etc, that we could practically walk most places we wanted to go to in Paris.
One thing - below the bed some vacuuming and dusting would have been good (but we discovered this only when packing, so this didn't bother us while we were there :))
