MIRAFLORES DOWNTOWN COZY HOME STAY
Carlos showed me his cats, Big Moose and Little Moose. There was another cat Mimi(?) but she was shy, and the small dog Cookie. Carlos recommended me a a restaurant to eat at but I didn't go. The house is like a museum and its in a great location. Carlos walked around in his pajamas and served our group breakfast while arranging taxi pickups.
This isn't my first Airbnb but its the first time I've met the host. Carlos is a genuine character and I will definitely stay here again next time in Cusco.
I've been to Cusco many times. But this was the first time I stayed in someone's home, much less a nostalgic old house. Carlos is remarkably personable, has a great command of English (if that's important) and seems to take it very personally whether or not his guests are having a good time and are figuring out how to see and eat what the city has to offer. Our room was adorable with really high ceilings. It was like stepping back into the 1800s! The two bathrooms were clean and worked well. Hot water! Wi-Fi was spotty, but Carlos says he'll be making investments in the house, so it may be improved by the time you show up. But by all means, show up!
Carlos hosted us in a big beautiful room and we had a great stay. He was informative, helpful and friendly. He provided us with any information we could need and we had no issues at all. Thanks again!
We stayed here 2 nights; before and after Machu Picchu. Carlos is an excellent host. The house is old and definitely showing its age in places but it's just exploding with character! It took us literally 15 minutes to get to our room because I was taking so many pictures of the place.
The house looks like it was originally 3 different buildings joined by small courtyards. There is now a roof over the courtyards so it's all one building. Some of the rooms have windows that open to the interior. This is great for listening to the rain at night.
You may have read that homes in Peru don't have heat. This is true but our beds had 4 layers of heavy blankets and we were not cold at all.
The house is two blocks from the main square and within easy walking distance of everything. It is literally right next door to the police station. That means it's very safe but also that there's a lot of hustle bustle 24 hours a day.
Carlos serves a simple but wonderful breakfast. He also packed us a lunch when we went up to Machu Picchu.
We would absolutely stay there again!!!!
A beautiful house and very conveniently located. Carlos was very helpful and told us about all of the things to see and do in Cuzco.
Carlos was AWESOME! From the first moment we got to his house to the last moment we left for home, he was so helpful and accommodating to our needs, questions, concerns. My husband and I couldn't have asked for a better host. We decided not to book any tours while we were staying in Cusco and though we didn't speak a lick of Spanish, Carlos helped us get around in cheap collectivo, get tickets to different ruins to see, and told us good and safe authentic Peruvian restaurants to check out. This was our first Airbnb experience and it was a great experience. THANK YOU CARLOS!
Carlos was the best host, ever! We've stayed at a few homes via airbnb, but his was the best. He had maps for us when we arrived and suggested many tours and tasty restaurants. We truly felt like we were part of a homestay. Close walk to the Plaza - great location. We really have nothing bad to say about it and look forward to our next homestay with them in Cusco!
I arrived in Cusco after falling victim to a scam in Puno involving my train ticket. Carlos immediately made me tea, got me laughing and set about trying to help me deal with the shady agency that had taken my money. He spent quite a bit of time over my five day stay helping me deal with the problem. Carlos is a wonderful host, genuinely enjoys his guests and the house itself is comfortable and clean. I enjoyed my time so much with Carlos, his mother and his other family that came in for the holidays. Carlos is very knowleagable and proud of his city and will help you get the most out of your stay in Cusco. Once again, an AirBnB host that started out as a host and became a friend--thanks AirBnB and Carlos!
We enjoyed our stay with Carlos. He provided high service and helped us with getting tickets to Machu Picchu:)
I travel quite a lot, usually in Europe, but I went for my first trip ever to South America last month, and booked my accommodation for the first time using airbnb.
I was very fortunate to have found Carlos’ house. It suited my needs perfectly and I stayed there for 2 weeks. It is very conveniently situated - just 200 m or so from Plaza de Armas but nevertheless in a quiet area. The house is a large and extremely interesting with natural light throughout. Carlos himself is a mine of information and advice on the pre-Columbian cultures.
It was a great discovery for me, I aiming to go back next year because I think I may explore the Amazon basin which is only over the hill from Carlos’ place.
