Interaction with Guests
We always like to greet our guests and give them the ins and outs of their space. If for some reason we can't be home the door is unlocked and you can make yourself at home until we get back. We love to have conversation and get to know our guests. We also respect peoples privacy and have no problem with that. We are very easy going and want your experience to be exactly what you came to Lake Placid for.
Our neighborhood is very safe and quiet. It is residential with lots of space and trees between homes. Many guests comment on the fact that they were surprised at how quiet it was. I am an avid gardener and have beautiful flower beds and boxes providing candy for the eyes.
We are 2 miles outside of the Olympic Village. To get around the area it is best to have a vehicle, but we have had guests who did not have one. Cabs are available and several places in town rent bicycles. Their is a bus that comes to the area and a train that comes to Westport. If you use the train, a shuttle will bring you to town.
Other Things to Note
The Dorm/Loft is a unique situation. The guest bath in the house is for use of guests in the dorm loft. As far as a toilet in the dorm/loft, I would best describe it as an OUTDOOR CAMPING TOILET. Best to be used for night time emergencies. House bathroom is always open and available 24/7.
We are happy to host people with dogs. While on the property the dog needs to be controlled. I have many flower and vegetable gardens beds that the dogs can't run through. We are happy to provide bags to pick up your dog droppings. Our very friendly Beagle is named Darwin. He loves to play with other dogs so and guest dog needs to be good with him.
Our check in and check out time is flexible depending on the arrival or departure of other guests.
Leslie and Charles were wonderful, wonderful hosts! The loft was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay! Leslie was great in helping us find a place to eat at night and everything about our trip to Lake Placid was easy and fun.
Also, Darwin, their dog is the cutest!!
Listing description was accurate, location was amazing (very close to main street), and we felt very comfortable! Leslie and Charles were amazing hosts and gave us lots of tips and information as well.
Michelle and her boyfriend were a real nice young couple. They went off and enjoyed the area most of the time but enjoyed our conversation when they were around. They were respectful of our home. Romeo, Michelles small dog, came with and was no problem at all. I would recommend them as airbnb guests.
Leslie and Charles were fantastic hosts! Very friendly, warm and inviting into their beautiful home. We stayed in the loft above the garage which was very cozy. They were knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and gave us maps and printed off a list of restaurants to dine at. As stated in the listing, there is no running water in the loft, but we felt very comfortable using their large guest bathroom and full kitchen inside the house. We enjoyed a nice, long chat one evening when we came home late, in which their were very open with their experiences and gave us useful information for our accommodations to come! Can't say enough about them.
My husband and I had a wonderful time while we stayed at Leslie & Charles. The Hippie Pad was very comfortable & cozy. Our boxer Zoey also enjoyed her stay and was happy to play with Darwin, he is such a friendly dog. Both Leslie and Charles were very informative with area as we had never been to Lake Placid. They helped us with information on where to hike, kayak and eat. I highly recommend their friendly home and would definitely stay there again. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.
We had quite a nice experience at this place. Leslie is a generous and friendly host. She offered so many extra things for us - ponchos, raincoats, extra bedroom, fruit, laundry!
As listed in the ad, the loft doesn't have a bathroom in it. Guests have easy access to the full/clean bathroom in her house. We appreciate the spacious loft and the privacy we get. The weather wasn't good but we had plenty of blankets and heaters to keep us warm. We especially loved that we can have our dog with us.
Leslie was a lovely host. The loft was perfect for what we needed and we had access to the main house with a beautiful shower. The location couldn't be better. Only about 10 minutes from downtown. We had a great experience and would stay with Leslie again!
Leslie and Charles were extremely responsive prior to our stay. They were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The Loft was very comfortable for us, even during the cold nights. There is a lot of space and it was a pleasure staying with them. Their home is also very cozy, extremely clean and comfortable.

About the Host, Leslie & Charles
I (Leslie!) am an avid gardener, both flowers and organic vegetables. I have just moved to Charleston, South Carolina and look forward to re-landscaping the yard with flowers and vegetables. I am a creative soul and always seem to be doing something that feeds my creative needs. We will continue to do Airbnb in our summer home in Lake Placid and the rest of the year in Charleston.
Charles is a part time college professor and published writer. Sometimes you can catch him performing his poetry at one of the local venues. Our new avocation is being host of our Airbnb guests and sharing our love and knowledge of the beautiful parts of the world we live in.
