Interaction with Guests
We always like to greet our guests and give them the ins and outs of their space. If for some reason we can't be home the door is unlocked and you can make yourself at home until we get back. We love to have conversation and get to know our guests. We also respect peoples privacy and have no problem with that. We are very easy going and want your experience to be exactly what you came to Lake Placid for.
Our neighborhood is very safe and quiet. It is residential with lots of space and trees between homes. Many guests comment on the fact that they were surprised at how quiet it was. I am an avid gardener and have beautiful flower beds and boxes providing candy for the eyes.
We are 2 miles outside of the Olympic Village. To get around the area it is best to have a vehicle, but we have had guests who did not have one. Cabs are available and several places in town rent bicycles. Their is a bus that comes to the area and a train that comes to Westport. If you use the train, a shuttle will bring you to town.
Other Things to Note
The Dorm/Loft is a unique situation. The guest bath in the house is for use of guests in the dorm loft. As far as a toilet in the dorm/loft, I would best describe it as an OUTDOOR CAMPING TOILET. Best to be used for night time emergencies. House bathroom is always open and available 24/7.
We are happy to host people with dogs. While on the property the dog needs to be controlled. I have many flower and vegetable gardens beds that the dogs can't run through. We are happy to provide bags to pick up your dog droppings. Our very friendly Beagle is named Darwin. He loves to play with other dogs so and guest dog needs to be good with him.
Our check in and check out time is flexible depending on the arrival or departure of other guests.
We had a great time staying at Leslie's. She greeted us when we arrived and showed us around. She was prepared with maps and lots of suggestions. The loft was exactly what we were looking for, a relaxed space for us and our friends to hang out in between hikes and trips to town. There was plenty of space and the kitchenette was especially nice to have. Our dog loved running around the spacious backyard. The kitchen and bathroom in the main house were beautiful and we enjoyed doing some cooking. The house is located just a few minutes from town in a nice quiet neighborhood, and close to lots of trailheads. Leslie made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend staying here, one of the best air bnb experiences ever!
We chose the loft as a place to 'crash after a long hike in the High Peaks. Although we arrived at a late hour the day before our hike, Leslie happily greeted us, showed us around the loft an bathroom, and courteously answered ALL of our questions. The loft was a great place for a relaxing stay-over, and we'd recommend it happily!
Very friendly and welcoming hosts! They have a great knowledge of the area, and provided maps and recommendations for restaurants that was very helpful. The dorm loft is great, too -- decorated in a very fun, carefree and creative way. Would definitely stay again. (And even having to use the bathroom in the main house is not a deterrent to stay again -- it gave us an opportunity to chat with Leslie and Charles, which we enjoyed very much.)
Leslie and Charles were great hosts and were very welcoming. They were always available when needed and responded quickly to questions before our arrival. They offered great hiking and restaurant advice for in and around Lake Placid.
Leslie and Charles were great and hospitable during our 2 day visit. the place is definitively unique with a really great laid back atmosphere. We brought our two dogs on the trip and they had great room to run in the back yard and got along great with Darwin, the host beagle. Great place to chill in Placid. Would recommend to any Airbnb participant.
Leslie and Charles were wonderful, wonderful hosts! The loft was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay! Leslie was great in helping us find a place to eat at night and everything about our trip to Lake Placid was easy and fun.
Also, Darwin, their dog is the cutest!!
Listing description was accurate, location was amazing (very close to main street), and we felt very comfortable! Leslie and Charles were amazing hosts and gave us lots of tips and information as well.
Michelle and her boyfriend were a real nice young couple. They went off and enjoyed the area most of the time but enjoyed our conversation when they were around. They were respectful of our home. Romeo, Michelles small dog, came with and was no problem at all. I would recommend them as airbnb guests.

About the Host, Leslie & Charles
I (Leslie!) am an avid gardener, both flowers and organic vegetables. I have just moved to Charleston, South Carolina and look forward to re-landscaping the yard with flowers and vegetables. I am a creative soul and always seem to be doing something that feeds my creative needs. We will continue to do Airbnb in our summer home in Lake Placid and the rest of the year in Charleston.
Charles is a part time college professor and published writer. Sometimes you can catch him performing his poetry at one of the local venues. Our new avocation is being host of our Airbnb guests and sharing our love and knowledge of the beautiful parts of the world we live in.
