I live in a 1 bedroom apartment directly facing beautiful Parc Lafontaine in the Plateau borough of Montreal. In my apartment there is high speed internet, a claw-foot bathtub/shower, a full double bed (with a BRAND NEW mattress), a kitchen with fridge, stove, and toaster oven, and a LOT of plants.
I have a small balcony with a table and chairs, (that I share with my neighbour who is cool, and never home) and a sunny fire escape with lots of plants, a bamboo mat and a small BBQ.
Smoking is allowed in the building, but I'd prefer if you smoked outside. My cat would also prefer this. She is grey and pretty and very shy around strangers.
There is free parking in the street, and a BIXI station half a block away. I am about a 5-7 minute walk from Mont Royal and Sherbrooke metro stations, 5 minutes to St-Denis and Mont Royal, and about 10 minutes to St Laurent. There are a lot of great restaurants on Duluth street, which is just around the corner. I'm also about a 10 min walk from the Village.
Heather Hardie and Heidi (the cat) were great hosts -- easy to work with as far as scheduling and access, clear in what was required of guests (which was not much), and generally pleasant. Heather's place is a comfy little flat in an older building, with lots of plants and an asthetic appreciation for everyday eclecticism. It is in the heart of Le Plateau, right on a large park (Parc de Lafontaine) and perfect for getting around however you choose to do that (my wife and I rode Bixi bikes everywhere -- there's a station across the street from the apartment). We'd repeat for a weekend or longer anytime.
Heathers apartment (email hidden) from which to explore Montreal. There's a bixi station right across the street, and an easy walk to most of the plateau and old montreal. Parc Fontaine is right across the street. Easy parking on the street. The only downside was that the apartment was very hot, although we were there during a heat wave, so I cannot fault heather or her apartment for the weather :-)
I definitely would stay at heathers apartment again
We had a wonderful stay at Heather's apartment. Her place is centrally located, across from La Fontaine Park and within walking distance of all the great restaurants and bars on St. Laurent and St. Denis (and La Banquise is right around the corner with vegan poutine!) The apartment itself is the perfect size for two people and Heather is very accommodating. I would recommend her apartment to anyone coming to Montreal!
A very nice and quiet apartment ! Heather has been very helpful and agreed a late check out on Sunday that has been very convenient for us! Highly recommended!
The place is in a great location! Showering in the clawfoot tub can be a bit of a chore but it was fine. We were there on a very hot day and there is no A/C, fortunately it cooled down overnight. The apartment is smaller than we expected though but honestly we were there to enjoy Montreal, and this place really let us enjoy Montreal.
My girlfriend and I had an amazing time visiting Montreal and felt very comfortable at Heather's apartment. The apartment is in a great location near places to eat, parks, and bixi stations (amazing public biking system in Montreal if you didn't know). Finding a parking spot took a little time, but the ability to leave your car in one place for days without having to move it was great.
Heather is very accommodating and check in/out was really easy. She encourages use of her kitchen and provided clean towels and bed sheets designated for airbnb stays which was appreciated.
I would be happy to stay there again if I find myself back in Montreal.
My wife and I spent three nights in Heather's apartment and enjoyed our stay. Rather than repeat the other details comments, I would say that we were happy with Heather's apartment but it may not be suitable for everyone. After a day or two, the reclusive Heidi felt comfortable enough to grace us with her presence!
everything about our stay was amazing. the place is really well decorated and in one of the best parts on the city. Heather (email hidden) and would recommend if staying in montreal
Heather's place is a nice, small, well-located one bedroom apartment in an older building. Like many older places, some features (like the shower) were more charming than practical. The bed, however, was extremely comfortable. We never met Heather (or her very reclusive cat), but we had no trouble checking in and out. It was an OK place for a single night's visit.
this (email hidden) to stay for the week end! really cosy and charming!
