  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Miwa and Kohei. They were both very welcoming and had great tips for things to do and see in Antigua. The organic eggs and the jam provided for breakfast were fantastic. As were the organic toiletries provided. Casa Menta is also in a lovely part of town and we enjoyed the rooftop terrace. Thanks, Miwa, Kohei and Coco!

  • We felt very welcome, safe, comfortable and happy from the moment we were picked up at the airport until our goodbyes. In fact the good feeling continues, because I accidentally left my cash in the locked drawer in our room, and Miwa phoned to let me know that it is safely with her until we return next week. Thank-you Miwa!

  • Casa Menta was a wonderful first experience with airbnb for us. The host were friendly, the room was comfortable, and their dog was adorable. The house was quiet and close to the center. I highly recommend. Thanks!

  • Miwa's house was bright, beautiful, well decorated and extremely comfortable. The bedroom included all of the details that really go above and beyond what you would expect from an AirBnB host (lockbox, organic toiletries, beautiful linens, etc). Miwa is wonderfully open to the new guests in her home and makes you feel as welcome as if you live there. You have access to the courtyard, upstairs roof deck, fully-stocked kitchen, refrigerator etc. There is a endless supply of filtered water, beautiful organic eggs, bread, jams, coffee, etc, for breakfast. Miwa gave me wonderful food recommendations in town and was extremely helpful with my questions about Antigua. This house, the room, and Miwa's kindness are above and beyond! I hope to return to try Miwa and her husbands new restaurant soon :)

  • My friend and I stayed at Miwa's for two nights. It was perfect! Great location, clean, free breakfast. Miwa, her husband and dog were all great too. They were very helpful with all the questions we had and very nice. Her home is really beautiful. I will most likely be back since I now LOVE Antigua. I would recommend it to anyone that comes to ANtigua.

  • Stay here! It is fantastic. The location is chilled out but close to everything in town. Miwa and Kohei are wonderful thoughtful host, the perfect balance of helpful and informative without being intrusive. They gave us amazing tips on places to eat and shop. They were also kind enough to organised a brilliant Spanish teacher to come to the house and give us lessons. Sylvia is absolutely lovely and after 4 days of lessons our Spanish was greatly improved. Definitely get her if you are considering staying at casa menta, she also gives you a super interesting insight into Guatemalan culture.

Other then that the room was lovely, the coffee was delicious, the roof terrace was great for a beer at sunset and kitchen was ideal for a meal at home.

The only problem with staying here is that miwa's and Kohei's passion for antigua and the handicrafts will rub off on you and you will end up wanting to stay longer and spend all your money on the beautiful blankets and pottery that decorates their house.

Over the past 3 years we have stayed at Airbnb places all over the world but this is our favourite.

  • Casa Menta is a truly unforgettable place to stay in one of the best parts of town. Delightful and tastefully decorated, the house is close to everything, only 5 minutes walking distance from the main square. Miwa and Kohei were by far the friendliest, most helpful and flexible hosts I have met. Plus, their lovable dog Coco will always put a smile on your face every time you step foot in their home. Both rooms I stayed in were very cozy and clean, yet quiet and relaxing. Beautiful outdoor spaces add to the serene ambience of the house. I highly recommend this place!

I am from Tokyo, Japan and currently living in Antigua, Guatemala. I love traveling and meeting new people. I am open to any new ideas. I was taking a year off to travel around the world starting from Canada, Mexico, Belize, and now in Guatemala. I just fell in love with Guatemalan and non-Guatemalan living in Antigua, beautiful buildings, fantastic natures, and the climate, so I stop traveling and started living here. Hope to share the wonderful experience with you!
