Santa Maria dual-view El Born WIFI

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Carrer de Santa Maria, Barcelona, Catalonia 08003, Spain

The Space

Location, location, location!

If you’re looking for an authentic experience living like a local in the heart of Barcelona’s most sought-after neighbourhood, El Born, then look no further! From the small winding streets to the large squares where people go for lunch or dinner, El Born is undoubtedly the best place to spend your holiday in Barcelona.

Our wonderful Santa Maria apartment is situated in the absolute centre of this charismatic and charming district and is amazingly well located - within 5-10 minutes you can walk to the beach, the port, the Ramblas, and the beautiful Ciutadella Park. You also have dozens of bus stops (including the tourist hop-on, hop-off bus), three metro stations and the international train station Franca within a 3 minute walk as well as the best shops, restaurants, bars and cafes in Barcelona just a few metres away.

The apartment is a large 60m2 corner apartment, with a great dual aspect view - over the pretty Fossar de les Moreres square and along the Passeig del Born (main street of the neighbourhood) on one side and directly into the door of the stunning Santa Maria del Mar church on the other. It has three large balconies where you can sip on some Sangria and watch the world go by.

With two double bedrooms (one with a sofa bed which is made up on request) the apartment can sleep up to four people. It has a spacious living room with two balconies (one on each corner), a fully equipped kitchen with oven, fridge, freezer, cooker etc, and a small bathroom with shower. There is a washing machine which you are welcome to use and also a secure, high speed wifi internet connection.

Being situated on the first floor, the only downside to this apartment is that there is a lot of noise from passers-by on the streets and square outside, and from the delivery vans who supply the nearby cafes and bars in the mornings. For us, this isn’t an issue because we love to feel completely immersed in the city vibe, but if you are noise-sensitive it is important to consider this before booking. As a matter of courtesy, we provide complimentary earplugs for those of you who are light sleepers! :) The up-side is that throughout the day you get to hear beautiful organ music playing from inside the church, and every now and again there is even a concert in the square outside, giving you by far the best seats in the house from the private balconies!

As your hosts, Chris (airbnb user 493394) and I (Sarah) are here to look after you and can provide you with all the information you need on where to go and what to do during your stay. We provide all the latest city magazines so you know what's happening while you are here and to make you feel at home, we even throw in a few essentials such as freshly baked bread, milk, tea, coffee... and Spanish wine! :)

  • Sarah was the perfect host.

She was there to meet us and provided us with a complimentary bottle of delicious wine, and an exhausitve list of suggested things to do.

In addition, her communication was excellent with advice on a number of options on how to get from the airport to the apartment.

The Apartment is in an amazing, vibrant location, with excellent shopping not far, and bars and restaurants to suit the a worn out tourist after something easy or somebody after something a little different.

  • Sarah's apartment was fantastic for what was the perfect writing retreat for us-- I think Geoff and I both wanted to move in. Also, her recommendations for bars, restaurants, and cafes were all spot on. Great neighborhood, beautiful church next door. Thank you, Sarah!

  • Flat was about as central as you could ask for, sitting on the balcony in the sun is practically in the square. Sarah was great, communication excellent, and a pleasure to stay. If the proximity to bars, Barcelonetta, transport, markets, restaurants and sites isn't enough to impress you, then at least you'll be happy to know the WiFi was excellent!

  • We very much enjoyed our stay in Sarah's appartment. It was very comfortable, warm, clean and ideally located in the centre of Barcelona. Sarah is a perfect host, she cordially welcomed us even with a bottle of wine and useful hints. This stay in Barcelona surpassed our expectations! We recommend this appartment without hesitation! Thanks a lot to our excellent host Sarah!

  • Best place to see Barcelona from! There's so much happening around the apartment as you're right in the thick of things! There were festivals and they passed right outside the apartment, so you could just sit on the little balcony and have great views of all that is happening. Other commenters are spot on when they talk about it being noisy at night - those Spanish sure know how to have a good time. The best way to deal with it is go with the flow and go out until late, that way most of the noise has died down and you're so tired to fall asleep without too much trouble. Everything you need is close by, pharmacy next door, great bakery and coffee a minute away (Bubo) and amazing food and bars just everywhere. You can do the whole old town in a day and just wonder about the Gothic Quarter getting lost. It's so easy to find your way back to the apartment as it's next door to the Santa Maria church, which all the locals know and are happy to point you in the right direction – even if they don’t speak English.

The apartment is so cute, dinky, but cute! There are beautiful touches in the decor and it was clean and ready to enjoy. Tiny kitchen and bathroom, more than enough for your needs and with everything you could want. The bedrooms and lounge a decent size! We loved it. Sarah provides towels and there's even a hairdryer, so you don't need to lug those for your trip. Sarah makes you feel incredibly welcome and provides loads of guidebooks as well as her own personal recommendations. She also left a bottle of wine to welcome us, which was a lovely touch (thanks Sarah)! She's also incredibly responsive and patient if you have any queries (again thanks for answering everything Sarah). This little place made our trip fantastic, the icing on the cake!

We have already recommended it to both friends and people we met when we were out there and can't wait to go back ourselves. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Barcelona if you're going to enjoy yourselves and immersive yourselves in the culture.

Our first time using AirBnB and this has given us the courage to try other countries too. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

  • We were looking for a good place that was central to everything in Barcelona, and this fit the bill perfectly.

The apartment was spacious enough that we were not crammed for space (a common problem in large European cities). It was also within walking distance to everything - cathedrals, beach, amazing restaurants, metro. We also wanted to experience old Barcelona, and living in that space felt like being transported with time. It also felt very safe.

Sarah was great to do business with. She promptly replied to all of my emails, and always exceeded expectations for the amount of information she gave us. Sarah was also great to show up and check me in earlier than the time we told her when our plane landed early.

  • We loved out time in this great little apartment in the AMAZING location of El Born. Sarah was an excellent host as well. The street noise added to the flavor and ambience, in my opinion :) If you're a good sleeper, book it! If you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs...and then book it! Thanks again, Sarah.
