Interaction with Guests
This is our home and we work during the day, but are present and available during the evenings and weekends should you have any questions or need recommendations. We have lived in the neighborhood for over 10 years, and are very knowledgeable about all it has to offer.
Cobble Hill is a charming Brooklyn neighborhood that is centrally located in NYC.
The apartment is nestled on a quiet street between Smith and Court Streets, the two main commercial streets of the neighborhood. On them you'll find lots of great restaurants of every variety, coffee shops, outdoor cafes, bookstores, movie theaters, boutiques, galleries, bars and all the necessary convenience stores. The neighborhood is known for its beautiful historic brownstones and tree-lined streets.
The apartment is a short walk to the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM to the locals), the new Barclay Center, Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Promenade (best views of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty), and Downtown Brooklyn.
Manhattan is 10 minutes by subway, and the subway entrance is literally steps from our front door at the Bergen stop of the F and G subway lines. Taxis are also readily available on Smith Street.
Other Things to Note
We have a small dog. She is very friendly, well-behaved and lovable.
***You may have seen articles stating that Airbnb is illegal in NYC, but rest assured, our listing is 100% legal in the city.***
No pets, no smoking (except on the patio).
Other People: Do not bring in any other people unless we know upfront.
We ask that you wash and dry any kitchen items immediately after use - there's plenty of detergent to wash up or you can easily load the dishwasher. We recycle in our home.
We're easy going so you can come and go as you please, we'd just ask you keep the noise down if you're coming home in the late night hours during the week as we are up and off to work early!
We'd also prefer that you don't use the washing machine and dryer after 11pm and before 7am, just to keep the noise down.
We do not charge a deposit, but Guests and their invitees are responsible for all Covered Losses, as defined in the Airbnb Host Guarantee.
Chris and Don were excellent hosts. The listing is very accurate. The apartment is beautifully decorated and is very comfortable. The neighborhood is safe and the subway is just down the block. Shopping is convenient and restaurants are everywhere. The bed is comfortable and the shower is amazing. The back patio is full of flowers and trees and is quite comfortable. As we were told there are stairs both for entering(up) and for getting to our quarters (down). They were well lit and not a problem for us.

As usual, I loved my stay with Chris & Don. I felt warmly welcomed -- eveything was perfect.
The apartment is always clean, tidy and presentable.
Chris & Don are fabulous!
The first thing to understand is that this is new construction, even though it looks like a brownstone from the outside, well not really - but it evokes a brownstone. But there are none of the remodeling compromises and shortfalls that you find in the older housing stock. Everything here is new, but much more gracious and artistic than a high rise and decorated beautifully.
When we arrived, the temperature outside was 91, that can happen even in June in New York. It was a nice relief to walk into central air that covered the entire house.
The space is great including a bedroom and very modern bath - walk in shower with three separate shower heads. Like the rest of the apartment - perfectly clean.
The guest space is on the lower level of the apartment. At the bottom of the stairs, Don and Chris turn right and immediately enter their bedroom (with en suite bathroom). You turn to the left and the hall leads to your bathroom, bedroom and an office alcove which is mostly your space while you are there. At the end of the hall is also a door leading to a small backyard. We had the feeling of having our own corner of the apartment largely to ourselves.
We were visiting with our son, daughter-in-law, and infant grandson who live a few blocks away. So except for coffee we did not make use of the kitchen, but it is modern and well-equipped.
We have spent a lot of time in this neighborhood. The apartment is central to quintessential Brooklyn. Great shopping and restaurants and wonderful street life.
Many apartments in this neck of the woods will describe the convenient access to the subway, and it is true for all of them, but here more than others. If you don't have coffee in the morning and walk a 100 feet without paying attention, you will stumble down the steps to the subway. Don't do that, because you want to walk another 100 feet, crossing the road to the stairs to the subway to Manhatten.
Count the number of reviews and you see that Don and Chris know what they are doing as airbnb hosts. All the little touches that you want are there, including umbrellas in your room, and chocolates waiting for you. Communication was great. They are ideal hosts. They should write the book on how to do airbnb.
Once again we had a great experience at Chris and Don's place. A very late arrival didn't faze them and as always we felt like we were in our "second home" in NYC. (And the great location is a real plus.)
Fantastic accommodation!! Chris and Don provided me with a truly genuine experience of New York which was only a dream until I stay with them. Loads of extra touches that made me feel at home from the welcoming note left on the bed to the cheerful faces when I got home. The room was very comfortable, clean and a spectacular shower. Close to great food, transport and the vibrant energy that makes that makes New York, New York. Thanks guys. :)
When we rang the door, Don instantly opened the door and welcomed us. From the start, it felt really as coming home in NY! Don was a real gentlemen by giving us a tour of the house and carrying our bag to our room.
Chris and Don were our first experience with AirBnB and I must say: it could not have been better. Both are incredible hosts with the loveliest little dog! The entire house (including our bedroom and private bathroom) was very clean and cozy. The location was lovely, a really safe and quiet neighborhood in the trending Brooklyn. The subway was really close (direct line to Manhattan) and there is a starbucks round the corner (in fact there are many good restaurants that are very close).
Our experience in one word: fantastic!
About the Host, Chris And Don
We're a friendly outgoing couple who loves entertaining and meeting new people. New York has been our home since 2005 and we like to share our knowledge of the city with out-of-town friends and visiting guests. Don works in the commercial real estate field and Chris is entrenched in the world of advertising and healthcare technology. We are both originally from the Midwest and have traveled throughout the US and Europe, with a little Central America thrown in for good measure. We have a Norfolk Terrier who is a trained and registered therapy dog. She is very well behaved, mild-mannered and does not shed.
