Interaction with Guests

This is our home and we work during the day, but are present and available during the evenings and weekends should you have any questions or need recommendations. We have lived in the neighborhood for over 10 years, and are very knowledgeable about all it has to offer.

The Neighborhood

Cobble Hill is a charming Brooklyn neighborhood that is centrally located in NYC.

The apartment is nestled on a quiet street between Smith and Court Streets, the two main commercial streets of the neighborhood. On them you'll find lots of great restaurants of every variety, coffee shops, outdoor cafes, bookstores, movie theaters, boutiques, galleries, bars and all the necessary convenience stores. The neighborhood is known for its beautiful historic brownstones and tree-lined streets.

The apartment is a short walk to the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM to the locals), the new Barclay Center, Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Promenade (best views of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty), and Downtown Brooklyn.

Getting around

Manhattan is 10 minutes by subway, and the subway entrance is literally steps from our front door at the Bergen stop of the F and G subway lines. Taxis are also readily available on Smith Street.

Other Things to Note

We have a small dog. She is very friendly, well-behaved and lovable.

  • Chris and Don were great and generous hosts. Their thoughtful attention to detail and their guests' comfort is evident everywhere. We appreciated the welcome chocolates and water in our room. Sissy is truly the cutest pet in New York! We felt so at home!

The house is gorgeous and was a welcome and cool oasis to return to after touring a hot New York. The bed is huge and the bedding luxurious. The bathroom is heavenly and the shower is a treat. If only we had spent more time in the beautiful garden. It is peaceful and quiet there - just the place to take enjoy a cup of coffee before setting off for the day. The hosts have thought of everything that you could possibly need for your comfort and convenience.

The house is so close to the subway and we traveled to and from Manhattan very easily. Also, there are some lovely restaurants and takeaways in Court Street. I loved having a 24 hour Rite Aid just opposite - so convenient.

We experienced true 5 star treatment at Chris and Don's and would recommend their home to anyone that is considering visiting New York. Our stay in New York was a wonderful experience and having this amazing home away from home to return to in the evenings was special! Our expectations were exceeded!

  • We really enjoyed our recent 8-night stay with Don and Chris. They are very friendly and helpful with tips and suggestions about the local area and other parts of Brooklyn. The cozy bedroom was comfortable and quiet for sleeping. The spa- like bathroom with its shower with multiple heads, was a delight. The location is (email hidden)bway at your door, as well as various bus routes. It was convenient to have access to a well-equipped kitchen. Sissy, their small dog, was a cutie! We would gladly return.

  • My Mum and I had a great stay at Chris and Don's Homey Townhouse in Brooklyn. The house is beautiful and welcoming and the guest bedroom very comfy and quiet, not to mention the modern and clean bathroom. The place is conveniently located very close to a Subway station, perfect for those who want to explore Manhattan but at the same time enjoy a safe and nice Brooklyn neighborhood with very good restaurants. Chris and Don were very friendly and made us feel like home, offering their help and advice with everything we needed, in addition to a very comprehensive book with information on cafes, restaurants and things to do in the neighborhood and NYC.
We highly recommend their place, and I hope I will have the chance to stay with them again in the future. Thank you! Laura and Vanna.

  • Chris and Don have a wonderful home in a very convenient location. They were most easy to work with and provided detailed information about everything: when we could get into the apartment, how to enter and get settled, what they expected and what we could expect, what to do nearby and how to go there. The apartment is beautifully and comfortably decorated and our space was nearly perfect. We hope to make their apartment our "home away from home' when we visit Brooklyn in the future. Thank you Chris and Don for a great stay!

  • Chris and Don are pros at this! Their home is beautifully decorated and welcoming. The guest room is on the lower level, tucked away next to the garden. I found it very quiet, cozy and comfortable. I really appreciated all the extras touches such as bottles of water and chocolates left by the bedside, upscale toiletries and soap in the fabulous modern bathroom, and a large binder chock full of all kinds of things to see/do in Brooklyn.

  • I really had a great stay at Chris and Don's Homey townhouse. The house is spacious and really comfortable. And the location is just perfect for exploring Brooklyn and 50ft from the Subway station.
    Greatly recommended.

  • These guys are congenial, meticulous, helpful. The place is right on an MTA line to Manhattan, and the street next to them is filled with cheap and good restaurants. I'd stay here again, easily. They were good-natured about me locking myself out of my bedroom (I hit a push-button lock by accident, the only guest they've had that did that).

We're a friendly outgoing couple who loves entertaining and meeting new people. New York has been our home since 2005 and we like to share our knowledge of the city with out-of-town friends and visiting guests. Don works in the commercial real estate field and Chris is entrenched in the world of advertising and healthcare technology. We are both originally from the Midwest and have traveled throughout the US and Europe, with a little Central America thrown in for good measure. We have a Norfolk Terrier who is a trained and registered therapy dog. She is very well behaved, mild-mannered and does not shed.
