Absolutely amazing experience. The accommodation was interesting, spacious, really well decorated and thought out.
The star was definitely the outside space which had lots of seating areas, brilliant horticulture design and of course a hot tub.
The kitchen was excellently stocked (utensils, glasses, condiments, tea/coffee) and the user manual was informative.
Totally relaxing and enjoyable couple of days.
This is definitely our home away from home in Joshua Tree! This was our third time staying here, and it is always clean, welcoming, and full of thoughtful amenities to make your stay more enjoyable. Our favorite thing to do is watch the bunnies, quail, birds, etc. from our cozy seats on the back patio. Thank you yet again, Christa and Mark!
We absolutely positively LOVED staying in Christa and Mark's place. It was gorgeous, tons of space, beautiful yard, toys for my son to play with, a well equipped kitchen. Everything was just great.
We stayed with our son and two of our friends and we all felt really comfortable. Joshua Tree is beautiful, and this home really captured the essence of the town with the local art, the gorgeous landscaping...
I feel like I'm gushing but it really was great. You should stay here and tell everyone you know to stay here too. ;)
Had a fantastic time staying here! Everything was in really nice shape and super clean when we arrived. The house is set back from the road, which made for a really quiet place to decompress. The highlight was probably sitting on the back patio in the mornings with a cup of coffee and watching the wild rabbits hop around the yard. Thanks Christa and Mark for making our stay so amazing!
The highlight of this place was watching the bunnies, chipmunks, and many species of birds flit in and out of the yard. The outdoor space was lovely with enough shade to enjoy all day and the very hot and clean hot tub at night.
The house was very well equipped. I've never stayed in a rental with so much kitchen equipment, including coffee, tea, and spices. You really don't have to bring anything extra.
It was clean, comfortable, and very thoughtfully laid out with everything a guest could need.
Christa and Mark have created a comfortable, welcoming home in the desert - I use the word home because it's just the sort of place I wish I had for my own! The outdoor patio area is just as well considered as the inside of the house; pretty much everything you could need is there and waiting for you.

About the Host, Christa & Mark
A number of years ago we were in Seattle living the corporate life... and lost ourselves, or at least lost what was important to us. So, we decided to sell our home with everything in it, buy a small motorhome with solar panels and travel the U.S. for what came to be 6 wonderful, beautiful, inspiring years. We settled here in Joshua Tree a few years ago and now live a simple life with our son Asher and dog, Amante. Hosting guests at our rentals allows us to be at home with our son and we love it! We also love to hike, rock climb, travel, stare up at the stars, watch the wildlife in our backyard, and enjoy our diverse group of friends that make the desert their home as well.
We own two of our vacation rentals and manage the others full time. Our website is Moonlight Mesa Retreats. We are happy to help with questions about our area and share any knowledge we might have.
