  • What a lovely spot to call home for a short bit! It is tidy, well thought-out, and inviting. The lovely touch of fresh flowers and thoughtful edibles is a delight! Beautiful, private view, with cheerful birds to accompany. Highly recommended!

  • All other stays will fail in comparison to Waimea Garden Getaway w/ Hot Tub. Not only did Craig make sure EVERY aspect of our vacation was taken care of, but best of all, we feel like we have a new friend.

The weather was at times unpredictable, but that made this place such an amazingly unique getaway. If it was raining at the studio, rest assured it was sunny just 15-20 minutes away at the beach.

Great location, centrally located to most anything on the island. We LOVED the small town feel of Waimea with access to multiple farmer's markets and easy atmosphere (and it has a FoodMart that has all the basic needs so you don't need to feel like you have to pack a mini version of your house).

We also loved that Craig's place was about an hour from Hilo and Kona -- you'll appreciate that more once you're there -- trust us.

TLDR (Too Long Didn't Read) version: AirBnB only allows for 5 Star Ratings. Craig's place turns it up to 11 stars.

  • Had an absolutely amazing stay at Craig's rental. This will be at the top of my list when visiting again in the future. The property and Craig himself were incredibly accommodating and fitting. I highly recommend it, I was disappointed that I couldn't stay longer!

  • OK, this stay was amazing !!! Can't describe how much fun we had with Craig in his house and in our beautiful appartement which is a separate part of the house. Craig is an awesome and generous host. He even washed our clothes. Hey Craig, when you come to Munich, let me know.

The appartement is very clean, comfortable, big TV with endless channels. Kitchen well equipped with everything you need for cooking. Also included beach chairs, snorkeling stuff, perfect hot tub and much more.

  • It was first airbnb experience and that was great.
Craig is kind, delicate and careful host.
Thank you for all of warm greetings and considerations.
His apartment is good itself but what makes it great is surrounding environment.
Beautiful grass-covered hill, stars in clear sky...
As nature lover, I am so satisfied.

  • This is the perfect place to stay on Big Island. Beautifully located in Waimea with a great view of Mauna Kea and the most beautiful sunsets you can imagine. Craig is really a perfect host who offers the same service as a first class hotel - maybe because he is working as a Manager in a first class Hotel. The room is absolutely clean and you can fell like home away from home.

  • Excellent, excellent, excellent! I couldn't have asked for better accommodations. He was a real gentlemen; went out of his way to make our stay pleasurable. It's the details that make a stay special, ie. welcoming note from Craig, cold beer / juice in the fridge, extra towels, beach towels, children's toys, snacks and of course keeping the home tidy & clean. I can't wait to return! Mucho Mahalo Craig!

  • I'm afraid to let the secret out about Craig's wonderful Mauna Kea of Waimea! If I tell too many, it won't be available for me again, I'm afraid.
Craig is the best host and knows all there is to know about "his" Big Island, intimately. The Garden Get-Away is detailed and appointed to the 9's. Equipped with everything! I mean everything! Just bring a few articles of clothing, the rest is taken care and available. Shower towels, hot tub towels, beach towels, does that give you an idea? It is impeccable, clean and flower blooms everywhere. I was very happy there with my daughter. She got her homework down, I napped and hot tubbed, we were close to our friends for social and dining arrangements. I still want to be there.
Mahalo Nui Loa Craig for your kindness and hospitality. You are extraordinaire!

  • Perfect place to stay in Waimea. Craig is a great host that makes you feel at home!

  • Craig's background in the resort industry has taught him exactly how to make his visitors relax and feel at home. There was wine, beer, fruit, and snacks waiting for us when we arrived. There were even chocolates on the pillows! Craig's rental is a beautiful apartment on the lower level of his home, with a private entrance and a covered lanai. The property sits above Waimea, with a view of Mauna Kea in the distance. The apartment is gorgeous and tastefully decorated with a kitchenette and everything you'd need to prepare a meal. The bed is comfy, and there is plenty of storage for clothes in drawers as well as a closet for hanging things. The apartment is very, very clean.

Craig is a marvelous host. He was able to get us a reservation at Merriman's for our second night, and ensured that we were served by Emiko, who was excellent. He recommended a hike for us to the edge of Waipi'o Valley, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We also enjoyed soaking in his hot tub after the hike! He was always available for help or to answer questions, yet he never intruded on our privacy. Craig has lots of interesting stories, and we wish we'd had more time to get to know him better. Next time we visit the Big Island, we definitely plan to stay at Craig's Waimea rental.

Director of tennis - Mauna Kea Beach Hotel
I have lived in Waimea, on the Big Island, for 35 years. As the Director of Tennis at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, which is rated in the top 10 in the world, I take pride in my job and the life that I have created here. Over the years, I have volunteered in the community, coaching kids in soccer and tennis, and fortunate to have been inducted into the Big Island Sports Hall of Fame in June of 2005. It gives me great pleasure to see people of all ages having fun and gaining confidence through sports! My daughters were born and raised here, in this beautiful community, on this incredible island. Now that they are grown and have their own lives elsewhere, I would like to share my home with others. The ohana (apartment) is a perfect place for a peaceful getaway. I have stocked it with everything you will need, so just come, relax and have a wonderful island experience! Aloha! Craig
