Albatross Villa "La Petite Maison"
Although from the outside the house appears to be very small you will find once you step over the threshold that you will feel somewhat like Alice in Wonderland as the house gets bigger once you are inside. Like a lot of the houses in the Center Ville the outside is often a bit of an illusion and you are almost always pleasantly supprised.
We have installed a Mitsubishi Air Conditioning /Heating System on each floor to add to your comfort throughout the changing seasons.
The Roof-Top Terrace designed by Swedish Architect, David Gölen is the perfect place to chill out in the shade of the specially designed UV Protection sail. If you prefer to sunbathe with a view over the rooftops of Marseillan Ville lay on loungers on the raised deck area.
A Weber Gas BBQ has been installed to cook your evening meals and if you feel like Pizza there is a Pizza stone to try your culinary skills on.
In the kitchen there is a gas stove with an electric oven beneath.
We have w-ifi in the house from SFR
We welcome you to share the experience by visiting our new home in the South of France. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us .

"Marseillan is like St Tropez before Bardot. Staggeringly pretty, one of the most unspoiled ports in France."
Sunday Times, London
Can you imagine yourself taking breakfast whilst sat on the rooftop of a centuries old petite maison du village or better still enjoying a glass of wine at the end of a day that was filled with as much or little activities as you would like? …. Be it a Romantic Getaway for Two or a Break away from Routine for the family, whatever it is, we can help make it happen in our little house set in the heart of Marseillan Village. La Petite Maison sits in a maze of narrow streets amongst a mixture of restored and unrestored, back to back, mainly 3 storey, very old, terraced houses, many origionally dateing back to the 16th and 17th Century's. If you want character and authenticity then you will find it in an abundance.
You can use everything in the house.
Interaction with Guests
We do not live in France but have an excellent housekeeper called Carolle and we are always available via internet or telephone.
The local town people are very friendly and we have lovely neighbours. The house is a few minutes walk away to the Bakery, Butchers and the Local shop, which sells everything from Eggs to Wine! One of the great advantages of living in the center of town is that everything is closeby.
The bus stop is 5 minutes walk away, next to the harbour were you can take a bus journey to Marseillan Plage - a little like Benidorm with lots of people, inexpensive food & drinks ...Karaoke Bars and even a Fairground!
Other Things to Note
Great Local wines and food. Many festivals in the summer which should not be missed. Fantastic Beaches to enjoy. Marseillan has it all!
No smoking inside the house please but if you would like you can smoke on the terrace.
A découvrir!
We had a lovely time in Marseillan. A great, friendly neighbourhood. Brilliant restaurants, and wonderfully quiet.
I am writing this back home with a Baguette and Coffee in my hand; but it is not really the same feeling as on the roof terrace in “La petit Maison” in France.
My girlfriend and me spent a week early in July in Janne’s and Anita’s town house. If you are looking for relaxation it is the place to be. Walking in the narrow streets of Marseillan in the morning to the local bakery and the experience of an old Mediterranean fishing village is hard to beat. Ad the historically interesting surroundings and some good food and wine to that, and you get a perfect week off.
The house might look small on the outside, but inside it is roomy and well renovated with great care; keeping that “old town house atmosphere” that I really like. The more modern touch of Internet and Air Condition that works throughout the apartment is however most welcome and makes it extra comfy, not to mention the roof terrace where we spent most of the time. Big plus for the Weber Grill and sunbeds on the terrace!
Tips for the area:
1. The Bakery just left of the Spar Supermarket has great baguettes in the morning
2. La Pacheline: Restaurant on the west key in the port, great fish dishes and three course meals for a good price with friendly service.
3. Delicatessen: Restaurant just by the old Church in the centre, good place for meals and drinks with great service from owner Alex and his staff (speaks good English as well)
4. Beach: Marseillan Plage, 10 min drive with free parking opposite the tourist office. “Le Mosquito Beach” a Beach club, just follow the main road from the parking lot to the beach, serve great espresso and offers sun beds or boats for rent.
5. Noilly Prat, by the port in Marseillan: take the tour of how these historic drinks are made and finish with a tasting, it is most well spent 4 € if you like vermouth =)
Janne and Anita have been great hosts and easy to deal with, thank you for this time and all good tips of what to do we got for our stay!

My wife and 6 yo daughter have just spent a month in Janne and Anita"s house in Marseillan. Firstly the hosts were terrific to deal with. Although we have not met them in person they were in contact regularly making sure all was well with our stay. The house is exactly as described. We found it very comfortable and very quickly felt at home. They have done a great job renovating a very old house in the middle of the village. It looks ( and is) tiny from the outside but is quite roomy on the inside. The kitchen had everything we needed and being in the middle of summer the roof top terrace was fantastic . There is no parking at the house but we parked in a free car park about a 5 or 6 min walk.
Marseillan has some great eating places and plenty of places to visit in the area. We loved the Minervois wines and had some great times hunting down small wineries and wines'
We were told Marseillan is the oldest village in France
Not sure if that's right but a month in the centre of this beautiful village was an unforgettable experience .
Thanks so much Janne and Anita
Janne and Anita's house is the perfect French village house you want to stay in when visiting the south of France. There was a bottle of wine and essentials at the house when we arrived late in the evening so we didn't have to rush out until the next morning for groceries. Marseillan is a good village to be based in and there are numerous places nearby to visit. We will definitely stay here the next time we are visiting that area.

We are an international family, Janne from Sweden and myself from New Zealand. We both enjoy travelling and meeting people, eating good food and wines and our family and friends. As we both love to cook the only problem can be who is the boss in the kitchen! We met in New Zealand in 2004 when Janne was sailing around the world with his friend Carl on their yacht S/Y Albatross, which took them three years to complete. Since then we have lived in Sweden and after a holiday in Marseillan two years ago we bought our little pearl of a house.
