I stayed 33 days at Mejai's place in a private single room. It was a great place and Mejai is an excellent host, very concerned about his guest's comfort. Mejai is very friendly and will do whatever it takes to make your stay a great one. I had an excellent stay and would definitely stay there again, if given the opportunity. I was there during the worst of the winter weather, but Mejai made sure the room was nice and warm. The private single is small with a single bed, small desk and a bookshelf for your things, with a towel or clothes rack on the door. It may be small for some, but it suited me just fine, as I was just in there to sleep. I spent the rest of the time in the living room/kitchen which was comfortable and had a wide screen TV for entertainment. It was great meeting the other guests, many who were from other countries and who were visiting Chicago. The location is great. It is 7 minutes walk to the "L" Green line station and then it was 15 minutes on the "L" to my place of work. McDonald's is 1/2 block away, and there are local eateries, a small grocery store and a Subway within a block or 2. The area is very nice and is close to the White Sox ball park, so convenient to walk in the Spring and summer.
The room was nice and quiet. Small, but I didn't need much more. Downtown is very easy to access from Mejai's house.
I just had a small issue with the paiement, but Mejai was able to solve it (although I had to insist a bit).
Mejai is extremely nice and welcoming. He is very helpful for anything you need. Thank you for having me!
One of the best Airbnb experiences so far. There were three guests staying at the same time from three different countries. Made for good conversation and fun evenings. Safe neighborhood. Grocery store and pharmacy nearby. Mejai was quick to respond to texts and calls.
Great time by Mejaï. A lot of nice people in the house and if you have any problem, whatever, you can ask him and he will find the solution and help you. I would recomend him ! The only 4 stars are because the photo was not very representative for my room, but that is very comfortable.
Good value and convenient location especially for Soldier Field (Bears, Spring Awakening, other events) / Comiskey Park (White Sox). Walking distance to bus/CTA and grocery. Room is good for crashing and check-in was super-smooth. Thanks!
Very smooth stay. Prior to my arrival, I was left with text and voicemail detailing how to gain access with a warm welcome. Rules were clearly stated and expectations were set early on.
Mejai himself is a very very nice host but i did not enjoy my stay here.I believe writing an honest review for the people is my duty.
The room was small, dirty and over priced. It was in the basement so i had to run up every time i got a call. There was no washroom, so i had to climb all the way up to second floor to share one. The owner charges 5 dollars/ bucket for laundry so i had to go out on the street for that too.Mejai does not give you the keys to any room in the house so my room stayed unlocked.I understand he is a responsible host but how careful you can be when there are so many people coming in and out at all times. The neighborhood is 100 % african american so do not live here if you are not one. .There were many times when i felt unsafe. The house has been broken into several times according to the host himself. On the bus stop i always found a drunk man shouting something that sounded like 'loo square' at everyone(scary).People would spit at your feet when you passed by. At the 35th bronzeville iit station i happened to use the elevator once to found piss inside it.
In short 600 dollars for the room and 72 dollars airbnb fees were way too much for a living of this standard, i would have been happy to pay 300 dollars for it in total. My advice is to either Live at the hyde park or north to the 31st street at all costs.
Interesting comments. I don't think this guest was happy with himself as a person and therefore perhaps found things wrong that other guest would not have. Poor guy. None of the comments above are worth listening too and most are just not true. Our home is warm and we only host international students, professors and professionals. I think this guest was a doctor. For some reason he was disgruntled. Bless his heart
Good place, I had an enjoyable experience.
