About This Listing
Villa Fortunata is located at only 4 km from the beautiful and reknow historical centre of Siena, very easily reachable by car, taxo or public transport. From here it's possibile to reach many charming places beside Siena, such as San Gimignano, Chianti Classico, Val D'Orcia. Also Florence is at only 1 hour far away by car, bus or railway.
The area is rich with restaurants, wineries and shops. For those who wish to enjoy a nice vacation it's possible to join several tours by foot, bike or horse..
The eight apartments are all nicely furnished and all equipped with kitchenette, private bathroom with shower, independent heating and air conditioning, washing machine, internet connection,tv, parking.
The renewal perfectly preserved the original building structure, emphatizing its spaces and preserving its tuscanity in the use of wood and cotto bricks.
I stayed in the apartment for three months for work and it was very suitable. The area was nice and supermarket, pharmacy, gym and restaurants could be found near by. The apartment was facing a relatively busy street so ear plugs were a necessity for a good night's sleep. On the other hand bus stops were close.
Chiara was a helpful host. When the washing machine broke, it was repaired the next day and the whole thing was very fast and effortless for me. One surprise was that electricity, gas and water were not included in the rent.
Sono stata da Chiara per il mese e vorrei dire che piu di tutto mi e piaciuta locazione-vicino sia all Universita per stranieri e a stazione ferroviaria( circa 10 min a piedi) che all centro storico. Grazie per la buona accoglienza!
Overall, we had a good experience staying at Chiara's two apartments. Each one is clean and bright and spacious enough for two people and has a small kitchenette to cook if you do not feel like going out. We all enjoyed walking into town each day, but if you do not like long walks and do not have a car, it might be a little difficult, as it takes a good 35 minutes to get to the Piazza dal Campo. The apartments are close to the bus stop, but the buses do not come regularly throughout the day and evening.
We stayed three nights at Chiara's apartment. It is outside the old city of Siena but you can easily take the bus to go there.
The apartment, which is part of a condo, is fully equiped and very clean.
We saw Chiara only when we arrived because she is not living at this place. Even if we were late, she welcomed us with a smile.
Chiara is a very nice and helpful host - she picked us up from the bus stop in the center of Siena as the driver forgot to stop earlier! Both my friend and I think that the apartment is a little far from the center of Siena, at our opinion not "near" as the description says. We had to walk a long way in the heat to the station to catch a bus to the center. The kitchen is small, but you can cook small meals there. I would recommend this apt if you have a car and especially if you are planning on doing day trips in Tuscany and need a place to sleep.
We lived in one of Chiara's apartments for three months while studying in Siena. For us (a young married couple) the place worked out well and was fully equipped with everything we needed. The apartments are in a great old building, about a 30 minute walk from the center of town (Piazza del Campo). The good: Chiara is very flexible, responsive and easy to deal with; the place is charming and classily Italian; the apartments are well stocked; it's a good base for exploring Tuscany because it's a 10 minute walk from the train station and on the main road to Florence with many buses; the price is good; and Chiara keeps it very clean. The bad: it's on a busy street (ask for a unit facing the back of the building); there's not a lot to do in the nearby neighborhood but it's where most sienese actually live; it's small; there's some noise from the restaurant below; and the first part of the walk into town is not particularly pleasant. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay and would return.
Although this is not a bad accommodation at all, it was not what we were looking for. It is close to Sienna, only about 5 km away, but it is on a very busy road where trucks drive by. This would not be an issue but the windows are not well insulated so the sound comes through very very load. It is hard to sleep. But if you are a sound sleeper you wont have any issue. I suggest that if you book in October/November that you insist to have heat no matter what even if Chiara says to give it a try overnight to see if you need it first. It was great to see though that the place had a washer in the private washroom. There is a kitchenette as well as bigger kitchen to use on each floor. Chiara is very sweet and met us late at night to let us in, and helped with everything we need. As well, the wifi does not work well at all in the room, but is ok outside the room.
