About This Listing
Lovely, hand-finished narrowboat in historic Bristol harbour. Scenic location with the city centre right in your gunwhale!
Skylights and doubleglazing mean your space is both well lit and warm, with good views out over the water, right in the city centre. Cosy main living area with two seater futon sofa, and a highly efficient wood burning stove - perfect for those cooler evenings. Well equipped kitchen with good-sized fridge, four burner hob and oven. (Tea, coffee etc in stock, but can't promise any food). Shower room with mixer shower, and compost loo ( very green and much nicer than chemical loo, but not necessarily everyone's cup of tea). Separate double bedroom with dressing/storage area.
Superb location - just minutes away from some of Bristol's top harbourside cafes, restaurants and pubs (many of which offer free wifi). The Watershed and Arnolfini cinema/art centres are very close and the famous Old Vic Theatre only a few minutes away. Also Broadmead and Park St for shopping.
Street parking available nearby (mostly now pay machine during the daytime - you will have a bit of a walk (10 minutes) if you want to park for free). If you are arriving by train, Temple Meads railway station is about 10 minutes walk. The coach station is a little further. I am happy to meet you and take your luggage by bike trailer. If you are arriving at Bristol Airport, the Bristol Flier bus service can drop you only a few minutes walk from the boat.
Please note that, although this is generally a quiet harbourside location, its city centre position does mean there can sometimes be noise at night. It is also one of the few undeveloped harbour areas left, with a working boatyard alongside. The quayside is somewhat uneven and you will need to be reasonably fit and agile to manage the steps down to the boat.
Other Things to Note
I can usually be very flexible with check in (and out) times to maximise your time onboard. I really appreciate, however, if you can keep me up to date with estimated arrival times (so I don't have to wait around unnecessarily). Thanks.
We will explain how everything works when you arrive. But as boat life can be a bit different, we are also available by phone at any time and can pop down to sort things out if necessary.
Tim welcomed us onto Broadleaf and despite the awful weather while we were in Bristol, we had a lovely time because the the boat was cozy and homely. The position was great- only a minute to walk into the city centre with loads to see and do. The Ostrich Inn only 10 seconds away!
We had an amazing time on the boat and loved Bristol . Everything was so cozy and we got a lovely welcome from Tim . Even though the boat is so Central you were never disturbed . We would love to come back and stay again .
Fantastic stay on the boat - it is a lovely, cosy place to stay, and although small, has plenty of space for two people.
Tim made us feel very welcome, and recommended some great places to eat and drink in Bristol. The boat itself is in a great location, with everything you could need within a ten minute walk, yet still quiet and peaceful. I will definitely be coming back to stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone.
Our stay couldn't have been more perfect. Tim gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and explained how everything worked. We had a cosy three night stay on Broadleaf and very much enjoyed the view of the swans and geese paddling past. Facilities on board were fantastic and the location was ideal for getting to the station and town centre.
Thank you Tim :)
Tim's boat was fantastic! We had a really lovely weekend and he was extremely accommodating as a host- providing us with tips on the local area and pre-lit fire which had the boat nice and cosy for our arrival. Perfect location next to the city centre and the historic harbour- highly recommend this as an introduction to Bristol!
Great location, cool host. Definitely the right choice for me after full on days lecturing and talking. It was a joy not to have wifi!
We absolutely loved staying on this boat! What a gem. Tim was so lovely and friendly and had great advice on places to go. The boat was so warm and cozy even though it was pouring with rain outside. Another bonus? GREAT location to some absolutely super spots in Bristol.
About the Host, Tim
Living onboard some of the time. But our lovely boat is also available for you to enjoy. I like bicycles, boats and beer - very happy to join you for a glass at one of the fine harbourside pubs!
