The space

This apartment is full of books and music, as well as a large stock of cooking supplies. It is a cozy space (550 sq ft), with a newly renovated kitchen and bath. The bed is Queen-sized and there are window A/C units and ceiling fans in the main living areas. A washer and dryer are available for your use as well. There is plenty of free street parking. This is a historic older home, and full of charm, but probably not for the person looking for an ultra-modern condo-type experience.
There is no cable TV.... However, there is a TV with basic antenna in the apartment, as well as a Blu-Ray DVD player, and high speed WiFi internet.

**PLEASE NOTE: This is my own cozy, quirky home! It's not perfect but will meet the needs of guests looking for something casual, affordable and fun. Be sure to choose an Airbnb experience that is right for you!**

1. Please send me a message letting me know of your interest! I will let you know if I expect any problems and can make sure my housekeeper is available to get the place ready for you.
2. Once I've given the go-ahead, make a reservation request. I usually can respond to this almost immediately.
3. You are booked! Shortly before your arrival date. I will send a welcome packet with more information about the apartment and instructions on where to pick up keys, etc.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Guest access

You will have full use of the apartment: one bedroom with kitchen, bath, dining area and living room. In addition, there is a washer and dryer available in the backyard shed.

Interaction with guests

The space you are renting is my own apartment. If you are there, it is because I am out of town, so our interactions will be entirely online (unless we need to speak by phone of course!). However, there is a very nice neighbor on the other side of the duplex (she has her own separate apartment) who can help you out if you are in a jam.

The neighborhood

The house is on a historic tree-lined street. The neighborhood is very residential, full of families and working-class folk, as well as artists and musicians. It is not "fancy" but it is quiet and lovely and diverse and I have had ZERO issues with crime (not so in some of the "nicer" areas of Houston I have lived). My across-the-street neighbor has some "creative" yard decor (you never know what it will be), but he is a very nice guy (if a little "rustic"), and actually helped a guest change a flat tire once! There are coffee shops and lots of wonderful ethnic restaurants nearby. New things are popping up all the time in this area!

Getting around

Houston is definitely a driving town, and unfortunately, public transit is not very convenient. This may change when the East Side metro line is complete, but for now I strongly recommend the use of a car. If you would like to explore public transit options, there is a very useful website run by the City of Houston. You should use "Munger and Broadmoor" as a starting place.

Other things to note

The home was so beautiful and cozy in a perfect neighborhood. We were super close to everything we wanted to get too. The home was very clean and even had a few things for us to use while we stayed. It was super easy checking in and out. STAY HERE STAY HERE

Tara's place is wonderful. Its an adorable house close to University of Houston/ Texas Southern university. The location is great, the neighborhood is safe. Tara's place has everything that you need- its comfortable, cozy and well maintained. She has wonderful collection of books, make sure you see the books when you are in the living room. She left very clear instructions on what to do, how to get in etc. Don't forget to check her list out on Airbnb. I would go back anyday.

Tara's place was lovely and perfect for our needs. We stayed for the weekend and enjoyed her cute little cozy house. Everything was exactly as described online and the location couldn't be more perfect for doing things around downtown or jetting off to the beach just 40 minutes away. Highly recommend staying here.

I'm a freelance opera director, part-time crafter, full-time muser. I love my little house, but I travel a lot for work, so I am happy that others can enjoy it when I am gone!
