Interaction with Guests
We let you decide, and are always at hand to share tips about our neighbourhood: where and when to see the village traditional dance troupe rehearse away from the gaze of tourists, our favourite restaurants & bars, and some of the lesser known surfing waves...
It combines proximity to the ocean with a gorgeous rural setting. Think cows grazing, waking up to the sound of chirping birds, and yes the occasional monkeys jumping from one coconut tree to another...
Scooters are your best bet from April to October (Dry Season). Rates start at US$5 per day, can be cheaper for longer rentals.
We can also make arrangements for a car with or without driver at very affordable rates, starting at US$ 25 per day for a 4 seat self-drive.
NO RULES, BUT A FEW IDEAS TO MAKE YOUR STAY EVEN MORE COMFORTABLE.
SUGGESTION # 1: Ask Lia or Ratna about upcoming events in our neighbourhood such as Sunday morning dance rehearsals by the kids in our village's traditional dance troupe.
SUGGESTION # 2: Oh, and please do help us minimise our impact on the beautiful countryside around us by asking your concierge about the eco-friendly features in your villa.
Our stay at the Casaviva Villa was fantastic! The pool is only a few steps from the bedrooms. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. The staff happily cleaned the rooms perfectly every day and accommodated any additional asks that we had. They are all exceptionally attentive, we can have massage anytime and we got beautiful breakfast prepared every morning!
If you are travelling to Bali with a group this is really the ultimate! A little piece of paradise tucked away in the cliffs near Uluwatu but still easily accessible by car or bike and only a stones throw from some unreal beaches and Restaraunts. Ibu Lia and the staff were amazing to deal with, the facilities are of a very high quality - only complaint is that we wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks!
Our experience was generally very good. The pool was great as was the open air layout of the common spaces. The best part was Lia and the house staff. They were remarkable. They were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and extremely accommodating. They prepared a lovely breakfast, they set the table and did the dishes, they did our grocery shopping for us, they set up in-villas massages, and they were just so pleasant and great to be around.
The villa generally was very nice, centered around a pool. There were 8 of us and we loved hanging out around the pool into the wee hours of the night. The villas is also not too far away from some great surf bars and nightlife, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
One issue was there was a raw sewage smell in the upstairs bedroom, which is unfortunately where my husband and I stayed. Our friends in the other bedrooms did not have this issue in their room. The house staff was very kind in attempting to fix the problem. They seemed to be able to fix it temporarily, but the smell would return just about every day. This was really the only issue.
Overall, it was a great experience for us and our friends.
Casaviva is a little gem! We stayed 1 week and were a group of 7 friends. The place is well-kept and the staff is wonderful. There at anytime to assist with anything. Even replying to email late at night to help us order food! The location had its pros and cons. In a secluded area, far from the husle and bustle of the busier area. But is also makes it a bit far away from the main attractions of Seminyak areas and such. We did a combination of scouters and cars. Went to nearby beaches of Dreamland and Finns beach Club. Overall the pictures speak for themselves. What is a bonus is the warm welcome, and devoted attention from the staff that really make you feel at home!
We stayed at casa viva for five nights arriving from Europe and meeting up with friends who had been on the island for a couple of weeks. The photos do not do the house justice, it is very comfortable and stylish. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful although a little charmingly chaotic at times. We asked them to do food shopping and cooking for us for a couple of the nights and I highly recommend doing that , the food was delicious beautifully presented and light and fresh. The house is down quite a long bumpy track so a little isolated, we loved it however and hope to come back it's a perfect antidote from the madness of Seminyak and as an area much more preferable for us
Where to begin?! Indra & Selly's villa was one of the most perfect vacations we ever had. For starters, the villa is really beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice. The Java house with the kitchen / dining / living rooms was amazing and really gave the place character. Each ensuite bedroom had its own style and design features; we struggled to choose our favorite rooms because there was something we really liked about each room. Our only regret was that we had to leave.
The staff was also incredible. They made us breakfast every morning (highly recommend Koman's banana pancakes), cleaned periodically throughout the day as needed, and thought of little touches like bringing inflatable pool toys for our 3.5yr old daughter (high marks to the staff on recognizing a need and taking the initiative). We also did a dinner bbq that the staff prepared (highly recommend). For one million rupiah we fed 9 people with snapper, mahi mahi, grouper, shrimp, clams, etc. all of which was cooked in the villa's garden and presented beautifully in the kitchen of the Java house.
The pool was the centerpiece of our activities during the day. It is actually quite a large pool for a private villa. The shallow end which was perfect for kids to play in was a really good size, maybe 500 sqft, with depths that differed from ankle high to approx 2ft (the deep end was about 5.5ft so perfect for adults). The kids loved going from one area to another, jumping back again, etc. The pool was the perfect baby sitter. Also, the villa is designed in a way that you can always see the kids, no matter where around the villa you are sitting. A nice feature for parents concerned about their kids around water.
The villa is set back from the road, down a private lane that takes approx 10mins to drive (don't get worried the first time you drive down the dirt path to the villa and wonder where on earth you are going). You really feel secluded in the jungle (several days we saw monkeys playing in the trees) and wake only to the noise of the breeze, geckos, or birds. However even though you are secluded, the villa doesn't feel far from Uluwatu, Padang Padang, or Jimbaran (that is if you care to even leave the villa after you arrive and see it). It is all about 20-30mins away and if you've been to Bali before you'll know that you have to drive to pretty much everything. When we wanted a car, the staff always promptly organized one for us so we never had any issues.
Indra was also a great host and was in almost daily contact checking up on us and making sure everything was going well. He really kept everything running to Western standards, something you don't always find in Bali. Thanks to him for that.

We built this dream home in 2011 which serves as our base when we're not out and about Southeast Asia on assignment.
Visiting Bali since 1990, we will gladly share tips about the less trodden side of this island and where to (sometimes!) find the last uncrowded waves in the Bukit Peninsula.
