About This Listing
I used to think that it was just me. I had a soft spot for our Cottage because I fell in love with Fred there... But now that many Airbnb guests enjoy the cottage as much as we do, I believe it. It's a sweet place to experience simple rustic living.
Our cottage is a private, separate building in a quiet rural setting - located in the back yard at our home. It is a two story building with large open rooms, full kitchen and bath - a little on the funky side but very clean. A Hearthstone gas fireplace heat provides radiant heat and ambiance. Free Wifi is included.
Upstairs has a queen bed, queen futon and a couch that folds out into a double bed on the floor. Downstairs couch has queen hide-away bed. So, depending on your comfort level and openness, the cottage can sleep a small crowd.
The cottage is totally pet friendly. Your pets are free to roam outside too, based on your comfort level. There is a big yard, woods and fields right outside the door. We also have a very friendly dog and a cat and chickens. We do charge a $25 per pet fee, which we will have to add to your rate after you make the reservation.
Walking and Cross country ski and snowshoe trails are right out the door. We have a little map to get your oriented. 20 minutes from Stowe, Hardwick, Craftsbury and Johnson. Morrisville, just five minutes away is Morrisville - a good sized town with a 24 hour Price Chopper, Hannafords, Duncan Donuts, about 5 Chinese Restaurants, 4-Plex Movie Theater, and Mobile Station and a few really good places to eat and enjoy live music
Stowe Mountain, Jay Peak and Smuggler's Notch Ski Areas all easy drives. 20 minutes via back road to Craftsbury Touring Center. We are just a few minutes from Green River Reservoir State Park - absolutely gorgeous area! We love our land and our home and love to share it!
You are welcome to enjoy the yard and trails all around. The WiFi is a little weak, so please do not plan on doing any streaming. Please do not go down to the bees without Frederic or Gerette.
Interaction with Guests
As long as you are not arriving too late, we will plan to be present to greet you. We are happy to give you all the privacy you want - and we are also happy to share with you any of our experiences and tips for enjoying the area to the fullest. Really, you get to decide how much we interact. We live in the house nearby and often times we meet, like good neighbors, in the yard or on the driveway...
You will need good snow tires or four wheel drive in the winter, to get up the driveway. Be prepared to walk across part of the back yard to get to the cottage - there is no drive up access. It is best to arrive by 5 pm, in daylight hours. If this is not possible, please be in communication with us.
We had the most wonderful time at Dream Haven during a snowy/rainy April week. The cabin is so cozy and warm, we didn't even mind that it wasn't spring yet! Gerette is a wonderful host and immediately made us feel comfortable. She greeted us when we arrived and sent us off with blueberry muffins when we left. She gave us helpful information during the week about places to hike, restaurants, things to do in "bad" weather. After one day, we felt like the place was home. The photos are exactly what it looks like. It is funky, cozy, very clean and charming. We had everything we needed. We especially loved the lovely hiking around the property and pond. We plan on coming back in warmer weather and do ski in the summer. Thanks for our favorite airbnb and vrbo yet!!
What a great place to stay! First, the location - convenient to great outdoor activities (right outside the cottage door and within short drive), good food and drink as well as scenic vistas. Second, a clean, spacious, airy yet cozy cottage - everything you need for a comfortable stay, beautiful sunlight in the day and warm nights with a fireplace. Did I mention clean? And last but not least, excellent hosts - Gerette and Fred were easy to communicate with, very helpful in getting our car up a snowy driveway, and lovely touches like the fresh eggs, English muffins and good books about Vermont. Will definitely recommend and stay again.
We had a wonderful weekend in the cabin! Both relaxing and fun! The cabin was perfect, cute and warm and charming. The land was great, i enjoyed the early morning walk, thanks to Gerette's snowshoes. A perfect escape from everyday life! Thanks for everything Gerette!
Awesome place, amazing experience!
We had a wonderful weekend at Gerette and Frederic's little cottage. The place was easy to find and very well located to discover the area. The cottage is well equipped and was perfect for a getaway. We enjoyed the trails around, the privacy and the proximity of several great restaurants and breweries.
The place is also super dog-friendly which was perfect for us.
We absolutely want to stay again during warmer months.
The cottage was just what my group of 4 was looking for. It's warm, cozy, low-key, and classically VT. It really felt like everything was just right -- nothing more, nothing less.
Gerette and Frederic were exceptionally welcoming and gracious hosts. I only wish we were able to spend more time getting to know them. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!
Gerette and Frederic were very warm, hospitable hosts--thoughtful to leave a nice start-up breakfast for us on our first morning after a long night's drive. Frederic was exceedingly gracious in helping us navigate his steep driveway to the cottage with my unfortunately well-worn tires! (Sorry about that, Frederic!)
The environment around the cottage is wide open, rustic, and very Vermont. I can imagine how nice it would be to hike in the area during the summer months. The cottage itself is very basic, but warm, cozy and backwoods cool. The beds were all very comfortable. Good place to rest those bones between ski days. The wi-fi was strong enough to keep us linked to the outside world. And the proximity to Vermont's best skiing (Stowe, Jay Peak, and Smuggler's Notch) is ideal.
And also don't miss Lily, who will greet you with a bark, then turn into a lovable creampuff right after!
We had a great time at the cottage! Gerette gave us a warm welcome (she even provided jam, English muffins, and fresh eggs!)and was easily available for any questions. Snowshoeing around the property was awesome. The trails were great. I loved the gas fireplace. It was definitely a very cute and cozy place!
