I used to think that it was just me. I had a soft spot for our Cottage because I fell in love with Fred there... But now that many Airbnb guests enjoy the cottage as much as we do, I believe it. It's a sweet place to experience simple rustic living.
Our cottage is a private, separate building in a quiet rural setting - located in the back yard at our home. It is a two story building with large open rooms, full kitchen and bath - a little on the funky side but very clean. A Hearthstone gas fireplace heat provides radiant heat and ambiance. Free Wifi is included.
Upstairs has a queen bed, queen futon and a couch that folds out into a double bed on the floor. Downstairs couch has queen hide-away bed. So, depending on your comfort level and openness, the cottage can sleep a small crowd.
The cottage is totally pet friendly. Your pets are free to roam outside too, based on your comfort level. There is a big yard, woods and fields right outside the door. We also have a very friendly dog and a cat and chickens. We do charge a $25 per pet fee, which we will have to add to your rate after you make the reservation.
Walking and Cross country ski and snowshoe trails are right out the door. We have a little map to get your oriented. 20 minutes from Stowe, Hardwick, Craftsbury and Johnson. Morrisville, just five minutes away is Morrisville - a good sized town with a 24 hour Price Chopper, Hannafords, Duncan Donuts, about 5 Chinese Restaurants, 4-Plex Movie Theater, and Mobile Station and a few really good places to eat and enjoy live music
Stowe Mountain, Jay Peak and Smuggler's Notch Ski Areas all easy drives. 20 minutes via back road to Craftsbury Touring Center. We are just a few minutes from Green River Reservoir State Park - absolutely gorgeous area! We love our land and our home and love to share it!
You are welcome to enjoy the yard and trails all around. The WiFi is a little weak, so please do not plan on doing any streaming. Please do not go down to the bees without Frederic or Gerette.
Interaction with Guests
As long as you are not arriving too late, we will plan to be present to greet you. We are happy to give you all the privacy you want - and we are also happy to share with you any of our experiences and tips for enjoying the area to the fullest. Really, you get to decide how much we interact. We live in the house nearby and often times we meet, like good neighbors, in the yard or on the driveway...
You will need good snow tires or four wheel drive in the winter, to get up the driveway. Be prepared to walk across part of the back yard to get to the cottage - there is no drive up access. It is best to arrive by 5 pm, in daylight hours. If this is not possible, please be in communication with us.
Just perfect, like last year ! I already look forward to go back!
Thank you Gerette! :)
For our first Airbnb experience i was amazed at how well this cottage and the surroundings accommodated us and kept us entertained. The little details put a smile on our faces. Getting cozy next to the gas fireplace on the coldest night of the season was a warming experience for me and Alexa on my 25th birthday. Gerette and Fred were welcoming and generous. Provided English muffins with jam and even saved us a trip to the hardware store where we had a little snag. Would love to stay again in the near future, and most likely will.
For our first AirBnb experience, fate could not have put us in better hands! Gerette and Fred could not have been better hosts. Such nice people and oh so helpful! We loved their attention to the little details, thanks for the jam and English muffins BTW! Their home is very lovely and the area is just perfect. We will definitely have to go back during the summer!
Gerette and Fred gave us a warm welcome and we really appreciated the fresh butter, homemade muffins, and eggs that Gerette provided upon our arrival. The cottage was clean and cozy and was a great place for me and my husband to rest after skiing. We enjoyed our stay here and recommend the cottage to anyone who is interested in a rustic, laid-back, experience in VT.
Beautiful space that was perfect for what we were seeking! Gerette was the prefect host from beginning to end -- provided all the information needed (how to get there, directions within cottage, recos on places to eat etc.) but not intrusive in any way. She even provided snow shoes for us to tramp around the woods in. We went on long hikes, practiced yoga in front of the fire place & slept peacefully in the upstairs space. Definitely recommend!!
This was our second stay here for my birthday and was the perfect spot between ski days. I recommend people leave a free day to actually enjoy the property and surroundings (as we did the previous year) as there are beautiful trails, woods, fields, etc. to explore from the cabin.
The beautiful snowstorn that had just ended made everything even more beautiful and the gas fireplace kept us plenty warm. We also enjoyed a breakfast of eggs which I assume were laid by the chickens that live right next to the cabin and english muffins and jam that Gerette left for us.
Our dog Booker loves the area as well and Gerette's dog was plenty friendly to him.
Highly recommended amazing place to stay in Northern VT!
The Dream Haven is the perfect name for this cozy and peaceful getaway cottage in Vermont! My boyfriend and I had a lot of fun celebrating my birthday and exploring Hyde Park for our first time. Gerette had great recommendations for restaurants like, The Lost Nation Brewery. It's about 5 minutes away and having craft beer from the tap was right on point...not to mention their sandwiches were fantastic. Also for dessert they had grilled cider donuts with cheddar, apple butter, and cream!
Gerette also recommended a wonderful bakery called the Sweet and Crunch. I left there with 3 bags of cookies...I had to share the sugar maple cookies with friends and co-workers. I guess I don't know many people who wouldn't enjoy sugar cookies with glazed Vermont Mape Syrup!
When we arrived, Gerette was very helpful on orienting us on the cottage. I loved that she had created a map of the trails on the property. We were lucky to find interesting fungi and lichens, deer tracks, owl pellets on the Caboose trail. Gerette was also kind enough to bring us fresh eggs from her chickens!
I could go on and on about our lovely stay at the Dream Haven. The wood stove was very warm...it was nice to unwind listening to records (I brought my portable record player along) by the fire.
We were lucky to have experienced a wonderful stay at the Dream Haven with a kind and very accommodating hostess. Thank you again Gerette for hosting us and making our getaway very special!

I am delighted to share our cottage with those who enjoy simple living and want to be in rural Vermont beside one of the most beautiful spots in the state: Green River Reservoir. I love to share our home and the surrounding woods, filled with walking and skiing trails. If you stay at Dream Haven, we will respect your privacy and be helpful when and if you need us!
