I used to think that it was just me - that I had a soft spot for our Cottage because I fell in love with Fred when I first lived there... But now that we have had a bunch of friends and neutral parties enjoy the cottage as much as we do, I can say that it is just a great space to be relaxed and enjoy one another's company - or the company of yourself and the woods and the squirrels that scamper across the roof..
Our cottage is a private, separate building in a quiet rural setting - located in the back yard at our home. It is a two story building with large open rooms, full kitchen and bath - a little on the funky side but very clean. Wood stove and gas heat. Free Wifi is included.
Upstairs has a queen bed, queen futon and a couch that folds out into a double bed on the floor. Downstairs couch has queen hide-away bed. So, depending on your comfort level and openness, the cottage can sleep a small crowd.
The cottage is totally pet friendly. Your pets are free to roam outside too, based on your comfort level. There is a big yard, woods and fields right outside the door. We also have a very friendly dog and a cat and chickens. We do charge a $25 per pet fee, which gets added to your rate after you make the reservation.
Walking and Cross country ski and snowshoe trails are right out the door. We have a little map to get your oriented. 20 minutes from Stowe, Hardwick, Craftsbury and Johnson. Morrisville, just five minutes away is Morrisville - a good sized town with a 24 hour Price Chopper, Hannafords, Duncan Donuts, about 5 Chinese Restaurants, 4-Plex Movie Theater, and Mobile Station and a few really good places to eat and enjoy live music
Stowe Mountain, Jay Peak and Smuggler's Notch Ski Areas all easy drives. 20 minutes via back road to Craftsbury Touring Center. We are just a few minutes from Green River Reservoir State Park - absolutely gorgeous area! We love our land and our home and love to share it!

Gerette's cottage was a great, A real "havre de paix"! Our stay was peaceful and very relaxing. Gerette and her family were great hosts and made us feel comfortable. We definetly recommend this place and hope to get back soon!
We had a very peaceful week staying here with our outdoorsy pup. We had slow mornings, sitting and reading under the newly built arbor. We explored the beautiful woods around the property, hiking the trails daily. We even spent an afternoon paddling on the Green River Reservoir, which wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of Gerette and Frederick, who lent us their canoe.
The place was perfect for our purposes: relaxing and enjoying the New England landscape (plus doing a little work, when possible). We cooked many meals in the well-stocked kitchen, and enjoyed treats sent over by Gerette. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially those who like the quiet and the woods!
This was the perfect spot for our disc golf/craft beer honeymoon in VT. Gerette was very helpful! She packed an amazing picnic lunch for us and arranged us a fantastic spa day during our stay.
Gerette and Fredrick are kind, genuine, modest people living off the beautiful Vermont countryside and they hosted a country getaway that we will cherish for some time.
Set back from the main house in the rear yard by the woods (with a little driveway to park the car), our guest cottage had a rustic, hand-built charm - quaint, quiet and raw, but clean and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were even provided a few beautiful fresh eggs from the couple's own chicken coop along with some nice English muffins and jam for breakfast.
In a lush, verdant, hilled forest, perfect for nature-lovers, we were still a short scenic drive from Morrisville, where we had several healthy, vibrant meals made from locally-sourced produce and enjoyed a variety of live music and craft beer with the friendly locals. Stowe and Johnston are a short 15 and 10 min drive away, respectively.
On our last day, we were pleasantly surprised by a care package of fresh baked muffins and a gift wrapped jar of fresh maple syrup left on the cottage doorstep that our generous hosts made for my birthday present :-)
Thanks for hosting our wonderful stay in your beautiful neck of the woods and hope to see you again on a future trip, Gerette and Fred (Lilly too)!
Gerrette & Fred are amazing hosts that blend the personal touch of staying at an old friend's house and providing you with space to point where it feels like you are all by yourself in the beautiful Vermont countryside. My wife and I celebrated our one-year anniversary at their cottage and couldn't have dreamed up a better place. The cottage is funky with amenities to relax, enjoy a book, and make your own hot breakfast complete with fresh eggs from their chickens.
We were going on a girl's roadtrip of New England and Gerette was a delightful host! She is friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home! She provided lots of recommendations of things to do and see. Gerette gave us fresh eggs from her hens - we'd never seen eggs so yellow, fresh and tasty! Thanks for hosting us Gerette!
The cottage was wonderful! Gerette and Fred are great hosts--very helpful and generous, and also very respectful of your privacy. The cottage was beautiful--very cozy and homey and totally spotless. The kitchen is stocked with spices and coffees and teas, and we made great meals every day. Gerette also gave us fresh eggs for breakfast. We spent a lot of time hiking the beautiful (well-marked!) trails near the house. This was a fantastic experience, and we hope to come back again.
We had a lovely stay in this cozy place. Gerette was very friendly and welcomed us upon our arrival to explain everything and give tips. There was a little breakfast for next morning. It was still cold outside end of April but the house got very warm with the oven. Must be lovely to stay here when spring has arrived. Highly recommended!
We had a great time in the cottage. It is in a quiet location yet just short drives to places we want to go. The cottage is well equipped and had everything we need, Gerette even brought us eggs from her hen! We had the chance to meet Gerette in person and she is beyond nice. We'll definitely come back to experience different seasons of Vermont!
The cabin was beautiful and Gerette was a charming host. We arrived and instructions for the cabin were on the table as well as quite a bit of information on the surrounding area. She also left us a wonderful note and The ingredients for a delicious breakfast (including the family's own chicken eggs). She was easy to contact and communicate with at any time of the day and seemed very flexible to as much or as little conversation as you wanted. I personally like talking to people, but if you are shy, I'm sure she would respect your privacy completely.
