About this listing
I used to think that it was just me. I had a soft spot for our Cottage because I fell in love with Fred there... But now that many Airbnb guests enjoy the cottage as much as we do, I believe it. It's a sweet place to experience simple rustic living.
Our cottage is a private, separate building in a quiet rural setting - located in the back yard at our home. It is a two story building with large open rooms, full kitchen and bath - a little on the funky side but very clean. A Hearthstone gas fireplace provides radiant heat and ambiance. Free WiFi is included but it is not strong enough a signal for live streaming - (it is strong enough for email and basic web browsing).
Upstairs has a queen bed, a single bed with a single trundle (two singles) and a couch that folds out into a double bed on the floor. Downstairs couch has queen hide-away bed. So, depending on your comfort level and openness, the cottage can sleep a small crowd.
The cottage is totally pet friendly. Your pets are free to roam outside too, based on your comfort level. There is a big yard, woods and fields right outside the door. We also have a very friendly dog and a cat and chickens. We do charge a $25 per pet fee, which we will have to add to your rate after you make the reservation.
Walking and Cross country ski and snowshoe trails are right out the door. We have a little map to get your oriented. 20 minutes from Stowe, Hardwick, Craftsbury and Johnson. Just five minutes away is Morrisville - a good sized town with a 24 hour Price Chopper, Hannafords, 3 Pharmacies (CVS, Kinney's and Brooks), Duncan Donuts, McDonald's about 5 Chinese Restaurants, a 4-Plex Movie Theater, and Mobile Station and a few really good places to eat and enjoy live music (see my guide book below) Stowe Mountain, Jay Peak and Smuggler's Notch Ski Areas all easy drives. 20 minutes via back road to Craftsbury Touring Center. We are just a few minutes from Green River Reservoir State Park - absolutely gorgeous area! We love our land and our home and love to share it!
You are welcome to enjoy the yard, hammock, woods and trails all around. The WiFi is a little weak, so please do not plan on doing any streaming. Please do not go down to the bees without Frederic or Gerette.
Interaction with Guests
As long as you are not arriving too late, we will plan to be present to greet you. We are happy to give you all the privacy you want - and we are also happy to share with you any of our experiences and tips for enjoying the area to the fullest. Really, you get to decide how much we interact. We live in the house nearby and often times we meet, like good neighbors, in the yard or on the driveway...
Morrisville offers public bus transportation but in general, you will need your own vehicle in order to enjoy the area.
You will need good snow tires or four wheel drive in the winter, to get up the driveway. Be prepared to walk across part of the back yard to get to the cottage - there is no drive up access. It is best to arrive by 5 pm, in daylight hours. If this is not possible, please be in communication with us.
I love Gerette and the Dream Haven! From the time I first contacted her to checking in on me during her vacation, she was sweet, thoughtful, funny, kind, and a healing calming force. She made sure I had everything I needed, and then some. She made her own home open to us because there was trouble with the Wi-Fi (if that's a necessity for you check with her before your arrival) but as I said she was more than happy to make it work for us. The home itself was cozy, and had what we needed to make our stay comfortable. There is a large grocery store close by for food, fridge and freezer are small so don't load up! Very close to Stowe, Gerette had good recommendations for spa, distilleries, restaurants etc. We can't wait to return, love you Gerette! :-*
Everything worked out perfectly at "Dream Haven". Gerette was a wonderful host and the place was clean and comfy. We felt like we were experiencing real Vermont country life!
Had such a relaxing stay at Dream Haven! The cottage is comfortable, and the scenery is gorgeous. It really was the perfect getaway. Gerette was an extremely helpful and friendly host as well. Thanks for a wonderful time!
Dream Heaven was flawless. The cozy little cottage was well equipped and placed. From there, our party of six was minutes away from a price chopper, gas station and hiking trails. As a former hiking guide, Gerette gave us a thorough briefing of of the area's hiking attractions such as mount Mansfield. Gerette and her husband were kind and thoughtful hosts.
The cottage itself is perfectly suited for up to 5-6 people.
The cottage has warm beds, good hot and drinkable water supply and a good kitchen. This is definitely a good place to stay while on hiking trips. Five stars.
the 'dream haven' was a dream. Gerette pays great attention to detail and provides her guests with special treats that turn an immaculate, rustic VT cottage into a mini retreat. The location is a short distance off the beaten track and requires a brief trip through cow laden meadows in the mountains. It is close to Stowe which offers the best of VT artisan and food culture. The property is beautiful and offers a woodland hike. I'd love to see this place in the fall and winter. Hope to return and highly recommend it
We loved relaxing at "dream haven" cottage. The experience of being there is very true to the listing information. The hosts, Gerette and Fred, are really what make this place so wonderful and welcoming. The cottage has all the essentials, and it worked out well for us with our toddler (there are even some toys upstairs). A great stay! There is so much natural beauty nearby to explore.
My friends and I booked a weekend at the Dream Haven Cottage to escape city weariness and commune a bit with nature. We couldn't have gone to a better place. My birthday fell on the weekend we booked the cottage. After having casually mentioned this, Gerette had a birthday greeting written for me on the outdoor chalkboard, along with a balloon waiting inside the cottage upon our arrival. We instantly felt welcome. Gerette was as warm as could be. She provided us a detailed overview of the property, nearby walking trails, directions to the reservoir, everything we would need to make our days as full as possible. When we expressed interest in baking a bit during our stay, Gerette even provided us with the odds and ends we would need for lemon bars. She and her sweet dog, Lilly, accompanied my party and I on a hike and joined us for dinner on our last evening, contributing a bowl of birch syrup candies for dessert (so good). Both she and our party agreed that our weekend was a very serendipitous meeting of energies, and there is nowhere else I would have wanted to spend my weekend. The cottage exceeded our expectations after viewing pictures. There's a special coziness that can't be communicated until you set foot inside. If you're looking for a home away from home, this is your place. My friends and I have already planned to make this a tradition for years to come. I can't wait to come back and experience the cottage in different seasons!
