This is a spare bedroom that we call the "Cloud Room" because ---you guessed it----it has clouds painted on the walls. It's bright and sunny due to east and south facing windows on the second story with a nice alcove at the south window for reading. It's about 10x12 and has a comfortable double size bed (that converts back to a sectional couch) and the guest bath is located immediately adjacent to the room and has a full bath. There is no private entrance and the room is located just at the top of the stairs. The stairs are located just inside the front entry so coming in and getting to your room is relatively private.
The home has one large dog (she's in the pictures), so if you're allergic this may not be the house for you. Use of the kitchen is included so long as no meat is cooked (it's a vegetarian household). There is plenty of parking as the house is in a cul-de-sac in a residential neighborhood. If you arrive or leave without homeowners there, the dog *cannot* be let outside the front door under any circumstances - she's a 'runner'.
Speaking of the neighborhood, this area is definitely suburban with a couple of strip malls located within walking distance, but primarily this area is best accessed with a car. That said, there is public transit access (bus) off SW 170th Avenue which goes to the closest MAX station which is the Elmonica/SW 170th station at SW 170th and just north of Merlo Drive.
Nike Headquarters is just under 4 miles away. We are a 15 minute drive or less to the various Intel campuses and the Hillsboro Airport. There's plenty of shopping less than 10 minutes away including the Beaverton Farmers Market (May-Oct).
Only two people live in the home (plus the dog) and the homeowners are quiet, hence your stay would be mellow and quiet.
Of note, the home is passive solar and has the hot water is supplied by a solar hot water heater and the room has a portable heater for cold weather months and uses a window fan for warmer months.
There is no smoking allowed.
Steven and Autumn were delightful hosts, as was their incredibly sweet, laid back dog, Lucca. We very much enjoyed our time in their lovely home. The cloud room has been slightly remodeled and is even better than the pictures and it was wonderful to have our own bathroom with a tub (ladies, there is a Lush in Portland, you know what I'm talking about). Stay here for a relaxing vacation, good coffee, and great conversation.
