You walk into Dolphin Spirit House and are greeted with a breath taking view of Kealakekua Bay. This house is surrounded by beautiful tropical landscaping, designed by an award winning landscaper. The visual feast includes colorful, fragrant flowers and fruiting trees.
You wake up in the morning to the sound of the birds singing and look out over the bay into the beautiful, healing waters and often times see the spinner dolphins frolicking. In the winter, you can also see whales breaching or guiding their calves in migration. In the evening you can enjoy the magnificent sunsets from the big, comfortable lanai, and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean at night.
You feel as if you have entered a tranquil, spiritual retreat, because the owners of this house lived in an Ashram for thirty years and build it with sacred geometry and fung shui. It is quiet and peaceful, comfortable and homey with everything you would need to feel at home, away from home. This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy paradise.
Just minutes to world-class water activities such as snorkeling, diving, kayaking, stand-up paddle board, surfing and swimming. Every day the ocean is different, you never know which of your marine friends will show up to play; dolphins, manta rays, turtles, awesome colorful fish, octopus and more!
Each room has a view of the ocean and a ceiling light and fan. All rooms come equipped with natural air conditioning courtesy of ocean breezes, and accommodate 1 to 2 guests. The 2 ground level rooms share a western style bathroom with granite vanity and a privacy enclosed open air showers. The upstairs room has it’s own half bath
Access to a well-equipped kitchen, toaster, blender, full size fridge, five burner stove, gas barbecue, dishwasher, [everything you need for cooking in paradise] internet, cable TV, iPod/mp3 compatible stereo in the main room, washer/dryer. Large wooden table on the lanai for meals. The entire property is on reliable solar power.
A close drive to local kine restaurants, fine dining, grocery market, weekend Green Market, shops and galleries. Kailua-Kona is 20 miles away, 5 miles to Pu`uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park, 2 miles to Keei Beach, an easy (one road) drive to Volcano National Park, which takes about 2 hours. The ‘King’s Trail’ and other hikes are a short drive away and easy access. 6 miles to Paleakalu Peace Gardens where guests can take yoga classes or we have mats available for yoga on the lanai with the view. Ten miles to Ho’okena Beach and Mamalohoa Hot Tubs and Massage are about a 10 minute drive away, or have a massage therapist visit you in-home.
The house has games like scrabble and various board games, cards and puzzles.

Swarn's place is amazing; a nice tranquil outcropping on a lovely rise above a breath taking view of Kealakekua bay; a few minutes drive from some of the best snorkeling on the Big Island. Had a great stay; Heather was a gracious host and took care of every imaginable need. Found some really great places to eat nearby, not including the yummy fruit hanging on the trees in the backyard. Overall great stay. Greatest way imaginable to kickoff my stay on the Big Island!
Two tips: one, download a map before you drive there, my gps was going haywire and two, mosquito repellent; my blood doesn't seem appealing to the buggers, so it's not a personal concern, but I did see quite a few at the beach nearby. Aloha!
We truly enjoyed our visit at Swarns faboulus house.
We are still on the Hawaian Islands, but I am quite shure our best days of our holliday was at Kealakekus bay. Waking up with a faboulus view and take a morning swim with the dolpins really sets the mood for the day.
We really enjoyed our time here! Swarn was a very welcoming host and the home is great. We cooked in the well-stocked kitchen one evening, enjoyed the outdoor shower, and of course, the views from the lanai were unforgettable!
It was pretty steep to get there, but it's worth the view! A really peaceful place with spectacular sunsets and a lovely host. Swarn even bought muffins and we enjoyed these with fruits and coffee for breakfast on the terrace.Everything was very straightforward, which we very much appreciated.
It's amazing room that I saw!!
Awesome room sigh view and kindly host!
But it's not easy to find the location!
The name, "Breathtaking View of Kealakekua Bay" says it all. This place was tastefully furnished, comfortable, private, clean and absolutely gorgeous. We loved hanging out on the porch overlooking the bay and found the location perfect for exploring the beaches in south Kona yet close enough to enjoy the restaurants on the main strip in Kailua. Our host was friendly, helpful and welcoming. She also provided tropical fruit and homemade baked goods. Excellent place!
Swarn's place is gorgeous - most amazing view of the bay! Heather hosted us, and she was a very gracious host, let us to use the kayaks, gave great local tips, even gave us a tin of local honey! This was a wonderful place, and type of host that make Airbnb special. Mahalo!
Staying at Kealakekua Bay with Swarn was fantastic!!!
Swarn is a warm host, and a beautiful person.
Her directions to get there were great, and on arrivial I felt myself relax. As you walk through the front door you are welcomed by a vista of the expanse of Kaelakekua Bay, and the ocean streching for miles. The Beds are incredible comfortable, and the only sounds are (email hidden)e kitchen is well appointed with all mod cons and necessities. Thre is a long table to eat at, a bed to lie and watch TV, a formal sitiing area, and outside another atble for al fresco eating and out door furniture. The place is close to shops and restaurants. The commercialism of Kona is avoided.
The main problem with this place is that it is sooo nice we did not want to travel anywhere else.
The Dolphin house is as much a destination as a place to rest, recuperate and plan more adventures.
I cannot recommend it highly enough. Get in while it is such great value.
We had the best time staying on Swarni's beautiful estate, where she was the most generous host! Kealakakua Bay is spectacularly gorgeous, home to great snorkeling, spinning dolphins that appear regularly, and the Captain Cook monument. Swarni has great snorkeling and kayaking equipment to use, and she grows payaya, tangerine, and mango that she generously shares for breakfast and fresh juice, along with delicious banana bread she home bakes (she so kindly made ours gluten free per request.) Our room was nice and private with a bathroom with two semi-outdoor shower heads right next to it. Her lanai is gorgeous overlooking the bay. She has a great kitchen and a really nice grill that we made use of. Swarni is a busy person, so we never felt in her way when we were there relaxing in the bliss of her place. Just a few minutes south of Kealakakua Bay is the Place of Refuge (Pu'uhonua o Honaunau) National Park, which was incredibly interesting and fun to visit, along with the awesome Two-Step snorkeling area right adjacent to it. So much beauty, calm sea, warm and not-rainy weather in this area, as well as coffee and honey farms to visit and surprisingly great places to shop and eat in the little Captain Cook town center. This trip was so much better and more relaxing than our prior trip when we stayed in busy Kona. Swarni is a beautiful person and we were so lucky to share her beautiful home with her.
