The Neighborhood

We hope your stay will be a fantastic experience. Here are all opportunities for sunbathing, swimming and water sports like windsurfing, kite surfing, canoeing and sailing.

From here you can easily reach many trails suitable for everyone from tourists to advanced professionals. In close distance there are also about 1000 lead climbing routes, both multi-pitch and single. You can also find bouldering, canyoning and many types of climbing.

During winter season the flat is an ideal starting point to reach the many ski resorts in the area.

During summer season there is a wide range of classical and contemporary concerts and festivals around the lake, besides other cultural exhibitions and events.

From Colico you can take the ferry to many of the other beautiful Lake Como towns and attractions. Experience also by car the wonderful coastline. Enjoy excursions to cultural, historic, picturesque towns and villages. Walk in the breathtaking pre-alpine landscape and nature. Get gastronomic delights of the Italian and local cuisine.

90 km from Milan, and 80 km from Bergamo with it's medieval part 'Citta Alta' and musical events, allows for day trips.

If you just want to relax a couple of days, as well, this is the place.

Getting around

It is easy to get here by car; exit at Piona from SS36 Milan-Lecco-Valtellina is 500m. Close to the house you have a safe, public parking space.

Coming by train is also very convenient. The local train station (Piona) is located at a 500m distance from the house.

If you arrive from the town Como you can chose to take the bus along the west side of the lake, to Colico (2 hours trip). You can also take the ferry and get a marvelous sight (2-4 hours trip).

The nearest airports are Milano Malpensa and Milano Linate, and the airport at Bergamo. Public transportation from them is a convenient choice, if not renting a car.

In your Airbnb Itinerary as booked guest, we give you detailed info about how to get here. But please don't hesitate to get back to us for any questions.

Other Things to Note

Lake Como is Italy's third largest lake, the maximum width is 4,5 km, length 46 km. The location and the geography of Lake Como gives a combination of continental and mediterranean climate in the area. The greenery is healthy and lush with palm trees and mediterranean plants in parks and around villas. These are intermingled with more upland flora in nature.

  • Graziano and Kristina were always in contact with us (we didn't met them in person) and as soon as we arrived we (email hidden) information of things to do, restaurants and others at their place...really helpful.

The apartment is really nice. A little bit far from the downtown, you need car or to consider extra time to approach to Colico. Close to a nice beach that is quiet thing that we really loved (10 minutes walkig distance).

  • Kristina and Graziano we're absolutely great during the communication before our arrival. They gave us very detailled information about the apartment and what we could and should do in Colico and around the Lake Como.
The Apartment was very cozy und clean, they also left a few basics for a small arrival cooking with italien pasta and wine etc. The view is amazing... the Lake Como in the front and the mountains in the back.
They have a bunch of trip planers, maps und recommondations for different acitivies around the Lake Como and they also have 2 bikes which we could use to ride down to the lake.

We fell in love with the Lake Como and are already thinking about our next trip.

  • Although we did not meet them in person, Graziano and Kristina were extremely nice and provided a delightful stay for my boyfriend and me as we began a month-long visit through Italy. Their apartment is well-equipped with everything you might need, including linens, a great shower, cooking supplies and wow! What a view! While the apartment is a log walk from downtown, the area is beautiful and the two bikes that they make available as part of the reservation are in perfect condition and made for a very enjoyable stay. Be sure to check out their grass beach, and try out the awesome bike path, accessible from the public beach area in town. Thank you so much again for the wonderful experience! We'll be sure to recommend Graziano and Kristina to all our friends, and we hope to visit again.

  • The stay was perfect. The apartment is spacious, incredibly clean, beautifully situated in the stunning tranquillity of the lake mountains, and generously equipped with laptop, tour guides, and cooking paraphernalia.

The station of piona is easily walkable, and colico is only a 30 minute walk down a quaint little pathway. Here you can buy your supplies for dinner (though there is a little shop only 2 mins walk from the apartment for bread and other basics) or head out for dinner (there are also excellent local recommendations). The quiet of the position, situated further north than the more popular 'resorts', was one of its most attractive features. On the first day we stumbled upon a colico trail (just to the north of the main grassy 'beach') into the woods were we only crossed paths with a couple of people. After some difficult news, it brought the peace we needed. That said, the other 'resorts' are easily reached by train or boat. The final perk of the position was that it was a wonderful spot from which to watch thunder and lightening rattle round the mountains; amazing!

Although we weren't met by Kristina or Graziano, we felt very welcome. A bottle of prosecco in the fridge, and a cupboard full of oil and seasonings, served that role perfectly. We cooked a baked risotto and a pasta dish while we were there; all the equipment to serve our cooking requirements. The bed was comfy, the laptop an added bonus. Such a lovely place. I'd recommend it highly, and I hope we will return one day. Thanks both!

  • Staying at Graziano and Kristina's holiday apartment is everything the description says it is and even better because we were actually there. It is charming, spotlessly clean, with the distant lake view. It was fragrant everywhere with potpourri in the cupboards and a well equipped kitchen for cooking. We got pane and croissants at the panificio 5 houses away, used the bikes to get around, walked along the lake in Colico, and ate gelato at the recommended spot- great. The communication was excellent. We were only there 2 days but it is one of the highlights of our trip.
Unfortunately the wifi wasn't working but I think that is getting fixed now.
We highly recommend this wonderful place.

  • I stayed in this apartment with my boyfriend for 5 days and we had a fantastic time. It is a very sweet but stylish apartment with the right amount of space for a couple. The kitchen was really well equipped (we cooked in twice) and all bedding and towels provided were very clean. A great location in a quiet little town but with access to a fantastic restaurant, small shop and bakery all very close by. The walk to Colico is about 25 minutes and a pleasant route if you stay off the main road, we did this most days. There are even more restaurants here, with access to the pier to reach other areas of the lake by boat. Graziano and Kristina also provided us with bikes which were also really useful and a ncie way to get around and explore the area.

Overall a lovely holiday and we will hopefully come back to Colico. Highly recommended, and as mentioned below we also loved the bottle of procsecco in the fridge!

  • Me and my boyfriend stayed in this lovely apartment for 3 days and we absolutely loved it! We really appreciated cooking facilities as well! Comfortable and cozy stay! Recommended!:)))

  • Although we did not meet Kristina or Graziano, we got a sense of how willing they were to ensure our stay was comfortable and above satisfactory! The apartment itself is beautiful with excellent appliances, oh-so-comfy doona, lovely fittings, even bikes available for us plus it was immaculately clean. Thank you! The apartment is a 25min walk from Collico train station and you want to have a detailed map in order to find it without any hitches. The area is non touristy and so is without too many shops or cafes but it gives a great insight into how those living on Lake Como go about their daily lives. The internet was the only thing that did not work for us. We loved jumping on the ferry to explore the lake & had a few special bikes rides around Colico and the Lake. We'd definitely return - a fantastic place!
