About this listing
Welcome to beautiful Hyde Park!
Located on scenic Hyde Park Boulevard, this vintage third floor walk-up is a peaceful and convenient place to stay on Chicago's south side. Our condo features big, bright rooms with hardwood floors; a full kitchen and dining room; in-unit washer/dryer; covered front porch; cable tv; wireless internet; and a variety of books/movies/video games.
For rent is one private room connected to its own private bath. The bedroom is large and full of light, with a queen bed and an a/c unit. The bathroom has both a shower and whirlpool tub. Relaxing!
We're close to Hyde Park's restaurants and shops, the University of Chicago, Promontory Point Park/57th Street Beach and the Museum of Science & Industry. Downtown Chicago is a quick 15-minute drive. As life-long Chicagoans, we're more than happy to make recommendations for restaurants and interesting places to visit.
Transportation: If you're traveling by car, there is free street parking available on our block. We're also close to public transportation (#6 bus to downtown stops outside our front door and the Metra train within walking distance.
Our LGBTQ-friendly space is ideal for couples, visitors to the University of Chicago or the UC Medical Center, or folks just looking to experience a different side of Chicago.
Guests will have full access to their private bedroom & bath, and all shared spaces: living room, dining room, kitchen, sunroom, 2nd bathroom and both front and back porches.
Interaction with Guests
My partner and I lead fairly busy lives and don't tend to get to spend too much time with guests when they're visiting. However, we're always happy to sit and chat and tell you about Chicago but are also respectful towards guests who'd like more privacy. All are welcome.
-The Historic Neighborhood & Architecture
-57th Street Books & Plein Air Cafe
-Promontory Point Park & Beach Swimming
-Biking along Lake Michigan
Public transit is incredibly convenient with multiple bus stops and lines right outside the front door. We're also located two blocks from the Metra train, which is a fast and easy way to get downtown. Cabs and Uber are also quick.
-Smoking is allowed outside only - you may do so on the front porch.
-In consideration of our neighbors, please try to keep noise down after 10p.
Generally, we're pretty laid back and have had some great guests. Our overall house rule can be best summed up, "Try to leave the space as you found it."
