I'd like to say we had a lovely experience at Aurélien's. Unfortunately the apartment is not so similar to the pictures.
If you are intending to stay with your family there, be aware with the internal area. When you look at the photos the mirrors in the background gives you the sensation that it is a very large room, instead it is a very small living room to share with the kitchen. Also, there was a lot of mold in the mirrors and the whole apartment was impregnated with it's smell.
The apartment had only a pair of pans and we had a lot of trouble to cook at night.
Despite the problems, it is very well situated and Aurélien is a very helpful host.
Aurelien was a great host. Very good comms and a very nice guy. He helped us with everything we needed and we had a great stay in Paris.
The reservation was canceled 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
My girlfriends and I really enjoyed our stay at Gary & Aurelien's apartment in Paris. The location is perfect - very close to a grocery store, boulangerie, metro station and many cafes and restaurants. While we never had a chance to meet Aurelien or Gary, they were very accessible and easy to communicate with. They provided me with all the necessary information and offered to help with anything! The apartment was clean and the courtyard was lovely. I would recommend staying here while in Paris!
Aurélien and Gary, they were really nice. They answer so quickly all the question. And they were really receptives. The apartment is without doubts the best location in Paris. The area is one of the best. Few minutes walking you are in Champs-Elysées and Arc du Triomphe. Pharmacie, metro, restaurants and supermaket just some metres. The apartment was really clean and everything organized. However I need to say something. When they say that there is Wifi, actually there is not. He gave me on code for Hotspot wifi, that's mean Public Wifi and we couldn't connect at all. Even me that I live in Paris and I have my ligne here the 3G doesn't work at all there. Maybe because of the location of the apartment. When we see the picture we think it's a ground floor but in fact it's underground floor.
Aurélien is a very good host. Even she had to work she was always available to answer our questions. And also his friend Gary was great helping us. The apartment is great! There's no better place to stay in Paris. Great location, near to everything (metro line 2 just around the corner) and very cozy. If you're going to Paris don´t doubt it and stay here, you won't regret it.
We really wanted to write an excellent review about Aurélien's apartment. We enjoyed the great location of it: just a few minutes walk from two different Metro stations (connected to few different lines), a walking distance to Arc du Triumph and Champs Elysee. There is a nice supermarket close by and many cafes and restaurants. The apartment was clean and well equipped.
However, there were a few problems that darkened our stay and reasons because of which we cannot recommend staying at Aurélien's apartment. First of all, When asked, Aurélien told us there's "Free WiFi" available
(it wasn't listed in the flat's description). apparently, it's actually a
free public Wifi that requires registration, but the poor signal in the
apartment made the wifi useless. We counted on using the network for
planning our stay in Paris and for calling home using Skype.
Eventually, we needed to buy a local SIM card with data package, that, as
known in Paris, is expensive.
More than anything, what specifically made us leave the apartment with bad tones was after the check-out. Gary, Aurélien's friend who was our contact (Aurélien didn't meet us at all) blamed us for breaking the shower head and staining the sheets. This was after Gary came and stayed with a cleaner, while we were still out. When we came back we saw the shower head, which originally wasn't in good situation, broken on the kitchen table. We talked to Gary and thought we made him realize that we are not to blame.
We felt that Aurélien, who we didn't meet (a problem by itself, as he is the flat owner by registry), blamed us for damages we didn't do. During our correspondence after we left, Aurélien took an unpleasant attitude and, unfortunately, left us with a bad impression of an unreliable host.
I feel really sorry that things went this way with Uri, and I still hope he
had a great stay as he told us by email : "the flat is excellent and the
location is superb"
It could happen to anybody to broke something or to stain things. There is
no one to blame. It has never been an issue for small damages and it would
never be if a reliable guest let us know about it before checking out.
However we didn't like Uri's position, considering Gary as a handyman he
could charge easily while we are running the flat together! Then he told us
that if Gary wasn't responsible, it was certainly our cleaner who "broke it
and threw the responsibility on him"
We really like to establish a relationship based on mutual trust with our
guests. Unfortunately we didn't succeed with Uri.
Though, we did our best to help him out with the apartment, always
responding as fast as we could to any concerns before, during and after his
stay, and by allowing him a late checkout at 7.30 pm...
About Wifi, as we told him, there is an access to an hotspot Wi-fi which
should help ones out while staying in our flat (We provide free access
codes). However it is not an Internet subscription, and though it works, it
could be less stable than a traditional Internet connection.
We still hope that Uri could enjoy his stay and we are confident about
welcoming respectful guests in the near future!
