About this listing
Experience the charm of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn! A traditionally Italian-American neighborhood, it is now dotted with lovely boutiques, shops and cafes, and yet has retained many of its long-standing family run businesses.
Try the lard bread at Caputo's Bakery on the next block, or experience the best classic Italian sandwich at Esposito & Sons meat shop just two blocks over. Then stop in for an afternoon beer at the Alpine restaurant, Brooklyn Buschenshank, conveniently located on the ground floor. Please check my guidebook for more suggestions on other great neighborhood places!
The apartment is located in a building on a prime corner in quaint Carroll Gardens only two short blocks from the (F) subway. What was once a brothel in the '50s and '60s is now spacious but cozy 2 bedroom flat on the 3rd floor.
Upon entering the apartment you will walk into a beautiful, tranquil, and spacious living room with an open kitchen layout. Off the living and kitchen area there are two equally sized bedrooms, each with a window overlooking Court Street (one of the two main commercial streets). Original wood ceiling beams give charm to the space.
The apartment also features:
Two queen beds with white bedding
Bathroom with tub & shower
Fresh towels and linens
Utensils/pots for cooking
4-burner stove and oven
Heat and A/C
It is a 3 floor walk-up.
Please, no smoking and no pets.
The F/G train at Carroll Street is a 5 minute walk.
Lovely neighborhood. Floors were very dirty when we arrived and we couldn't take our shoes off. I contacted the host about it and she said someone would come clean the next morning. No one showed up, and I ended up having to clean them myself. The internet wasn't working when we got their either. Amy was responsive and had someone come fix it within a few days. Amy told us the place had AC, and it does, but only in the living room/kitchen. The bedrooms were really hot and we couldn't sleep with the doors open. It's a really beautiful old building, but we had thought the entire place had AC.
Amy's Unit was exactly what we needed during our stay in Brooklyn/ New York. It was very easy to enter and lock the doors with a code but no key. We were staying there with two grown up children, so everybody could come and go at any time.
We felt comfortable from the first moment with fresh flowers and fruits.
It was well cleaned. Even the shower curtain was changed for us. The stuff for cleaning and housekeeping was very friendly.
Amy was a great host and made everything possible we asked for.
We would defenitly love to stay there again! It's really a lovely place to stay!
The apartment was perfectly located and as described. We loved the neighbourhood with little shops, cafés, breakfast & Yoga Places. only the walls are not very thick so you hear the neighbours and cars on the street. can definitely recommend it!! easy communication also with Amy, the host.
Loved the neighborhood! The apartment has everything you need. Clean. Plenty of space. Clear instructions.
Did not like the noise of the street traffic.
Just what the doctor ordered. Location Location Location. Great Neighborhood. Felt Like Home. Description Accurate. Kitchen Great. Bedrooms wonderful. I really felt at home. This neighborhood is fantastic.
The location in Brooklyn could not be better, great neighbourhood, access to subways etc. Apartment was very clean, 2 nice bedrooms, and larger-than-expected common living room/kitchen area. Very convenient, adequately provisioned for our needs. Furnishings all very comfortable. Getting access/checking out effortless.
This place is in a great neighbourhood. It's a fairly sizable two-bedroom and is comfortable enough. The living area is pretty big and there is a nice work desk. It's good for two couples for a long weekend, but not ideal for longer stretches (we stayed there for 10 days). There are some things that aren't great about it: the living room is heated by two large gas space heaters, which are very noisy when they come on, the shower doesn't have very good water pressure, and the beds all have plastic covers on them which isn't great to sleep on (although maybe this is a bed-bug precaution?).
