If you wish to experience living in a "real" home for a few days and blending in with the locals, this is definitely not the place for you.
Jeannette's flats are self-catering studios, they are run as a family business and they provide the same experience as staying in basic, self-contained hotel accommodation (without the room service and spare bed linen/ towels, etc...).
Upon arrival at the flat, I received the most abrupt and impatient welcome I have ever experienced from any host. Jeanette's brother hardly spoke to me, or made any eye contact. He literally ran up to the flat in front of me, opened the door, handed me the keys, ran out the door and I never saw him again. It was just a very odd and unsettling experience.
Prenzlauer Berg is a very "pretty" area, but it is super touristic, very, very commercial and it does not have any character. It feels a bit like staying in a gated community, a kind of Disney Land! Not real and not very authentic. If you favor more alternative and interesting areas and if you do not want to feel like a typical tourist, I discovered that there are much more vibrant and interesting neighborhoods in Berlin.
However, the description of the flat is accurate. It is bright and it has beautiful features such as a high ceiling and wooden floor. It is also fairly quiet as the windows face an internal courtyard. The flat was also immaculately clean and that's definitely the most redeemable attribute of this accommodation.
So, if you are after a simple, impersonal, cheap and clean place to stay in a touristic (but clearly popular) area of Berlin and if you don't mind minimum service, this is for you!
Jeannette (email hidden). Her and her brother were helpful, friendly, and available if I needed anything.
The apartment was light, airy, and (email hidden) to stay, I definitely will try stay here again on future visits to Berlin!
The location was excellent. Situated right opposite Mauer Park, which on a Sunday was buzzing with an awesome flea market; vintage clothing, food stalls and people just enjoying the ambiance of the park.
Transport was easy, really close to trams and the metro. Had a brilliant stay :)
A clean and cozy place, relaxed feel, simple but very nice and well (email hidden)e hosts seem to be friendly, though we had almost no contact—which is good since they are obviously easy-going and respect privacy.
However, in order to get a better picture, it might be worth noticing that the hosts own more or less the entire block with many (similar) apartments on different floors. I was in number 6 and enjoyed it a lot. It had a view of the courtyard and the big treetop.
I rented this place for my aunts and they were delighted. I saw the place and I have to say that the appartment is incredibly well located, it is very neat and spacious. Above all, Jeannette was an amazingly helpful host. I would definetely recomend this place and would stay there again without hessitating.
We had a great stay in this appartement! Penzlauerberg is a nice and vibrant neighbourhood and the appartement is around the corner of the Kastanienallee with lots of shops and restaurants. The appartement looks excactly like the pictures, it's simple and clean. It's part of a complex with several appartements. In the weekends there's a small cafe in the courtyard during the day. We had a late arrival and met Jeannette's brother for the key. If you're planning to use the kitchen, it's smart to bring you're own basics (coffee filters, herbs, oil, etc).
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This is a great apartment for any single person or couple looking to spend some time in Berlin. Simply and stylishly furnished, in a great location, and reasonably priced. My dealings with Jeannette and her brother were easy and my stay was lovely overall.
Great location nearby some nice bars and restaurants. Ubahn at less than 5 min walk. The apartments look very nice and everything is functioning well. I woud certainly recommend this apartment to my friends.
uns hat die Wohnung super gefallen, wie auf den Fotos dargestellt. sauber, gutes Bett, schönes Design... und vor allem sehr nette Vermieter. Idealer Ausgangspunkt für Prenzelauer Berg sowieso.
