La convivencia empieza en uno mismo .
My wife and I are so pleased to have had the opportunity to stay with Juan Carlos these past 7 days. The room was clean and tidy and has a nice eastern view of the ocean.
The kitchen access was a great benefit.
The bathroom was spacious enough and had plenty of lighting.
Shopping is few short minutes by car with a very nice 4-story establishment anchored by a large Carrefour. Just a little further is located another supermarket called Lidl as well as a Mercador market. Plenty of parking for a car out front.
The neighborhood appears to be safe and secure and quiet (except for one dog in a nearby house).
I hope that we will have the chance to come back and stay with Juan again in the near future.
Tenerife is an incredible island and seems undiscovered by vast populations particularly with Americans. That may be a good thing as prices are relatively low. I understand the southern part of the island is heavily developed towards tourism and the north is relatively untouched by this commercialization and this I observed during my week driving around this island. In between both north and south is, of course, El Tiede. There is so much more that can be said about this island but this is not the place for it.
Juan Carlos' place is very convenient and safe. Walking distance from the bus station and supermarket. Room is clean and spacious. Juan Carlos is just about the most helpful host ever. He goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. He was even nice enough to drive me to the airport when I left. I enjoyed my stay at his place.
Lovely bright room in the suburbs of Santa Cruz. Great if you hire a car (we did). Quiet neighbourhood. View of the sea. Juan Carlos is very warm and friendly. He even gave us a lift to the city on our first night, saving us a taxi fare. Lovely chap :)
Had a great time staying with Juan Carlos. I went with 3 friends. It has 3 rooms to rent (room 2 and 3 have 2 beds) and also a basement apartment with 5 beds. The top room (room 3) has a large balcony on each side with beautiful sea views, but has no door (although nobody else would go up to the top floor) so it can be quite noisy as you hear everyone in the kitchen and hallway etc - earplugs advised!
Easy to get to Santa Cruz with buses every 10-15 misn and took 15 nins by bus.
To get there from airport, take the 111 bus north (bot south!) but get off at santa cruz and take a taxi, as it is hard to get to the house with a suitcase by walking from the nearer bus stop, up and down lots of hills!
Otherwise the house is nice a quite. It's in a very quiet area except sometimes the neighbourhood dogs can be quite loud. The blackout blinds in every room are great for sleeping. The many rooms mean it can be a good place to meet other travellers if it's busy.
Juan Carlos is really great. Very nice guy who went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. He gave us a couple of lifts to town and drove me to the supermarket to bug groceries. He also cooked us dinner a few times!
The only thing I'd advise is that the house needs a few extra basics to make it girl friendly, such as a bin in the bathroom, hand soap in downstairs toilet, hooks for towels. Also the boiler was very small so the hot water would often only be enough for 1 or maximum 2 people showering in the morning - there were 10 people staying in total, so definitely not enough hot water. Might be worth Juan getting a bigger boiler.
Overall, we enjoyed staying with Juan and it was well worth the money! Thanks :-)
I had a great time at Juan Carlos' house. The room had a nice ocean view, and was well decorated and clean. Juan Carlos went above and beyond the call of duty by taking me out on some hikes, to find some nice swimming locations. He also explained how to navigate the buses and answered all my questions about life on the island. I would definely stay there again.

About the Host, Juan Carlos
