The Neighborhood

You are in the heart of the historical Paris in a pedestrian district of LES HALLES.
the XIIth century's food market closed in 1970, but the the bustling parisian energy is unchanged.
Café, restaurants, shops, museums, services, transports, timeshare bicycles, you are close to everything and you will save a lot of time and money on transportations.

Getting around

From Airport Charles De Gaulle :
- local train RER B (40mn aprox, 10€)
- step out : station "LES HALLES"
- walk 3 mn.

From "Gare du Nord" train stations (Eurostar, London, Bruxelles, Amsterdam, Koln) or "Gare de l'Est" train stations (Frankfort, Stuttgart, Munich) :
- bus n°38 (20mn aprox, 2€)
- step out : bus stop "Grenier Saint-Lazare"

Other Things to Note

=> When you check in :
- I give you 2 set of keys
- we write the number on the electric box
- you give me 100€ deposit

=> When you check-out :
- you return me the 2 set of keys
- we calculate your electric consumption "by the meter" (around 0,15€ per kw/h which is less than 1€ per day in summer)
- we make the balance and I return you the 100€ less your electric consuming.

Few words about the airbnb damage deposit :
As when you rent a car, the company "blocks" a certain amount through your credit card in case of damage. These 500€ are NOT charges by airbnb, unless you break something costly in my apt. For info, I never charges for any damage until now. However, there are quiet often few things broken, here and there. In that case, it's good to replace them directly with me :-)

I hope that everything is clear for you, otherwise, don't hesitate to ask me. You can book relaxed, I promise that you will have a good stay. Otherwise, I wish you a very pleasant journey in Paris, anyway ! :-)

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Me an two friends stayed at Joses apartment for five nights and we all highly recommend it. The apartment was clean, the beds were comfortable and Jose was very flexible. As we wanted to spend as much time outside in Paris as possible we didn't have much time to meet for the check out but Jose made sure that wasn't any problem at all. The surrounding area is very nice, both to stay in but also to have as a base to exit from. We walked a lot and many nice areas are within walking distance from here. For those who prefer the metro there are several stops to choose from close by. Would absolutely recommend and also book again!

  • Jose is very nice and helpful. The location of the apartment is very good, near the museum. Good bars and restaurants around the apartment.

    April 2014
  • We liked the neighborhood of Jose's apartment. But it was a pity that he hadn't mentioned that the apartment was on the fifth floor without a elevator! 90 steps!
And it was a pity that the fridge wasn't clean, we had to throw away some stuff left behind from the previous guests and also the flat didn't look very clean to us, especially not the white carpet in the living room.
But we had a very pleasant stay in Paris.

Jose is a nice guy but we think he should do things a bit better for his apartment. Cleaner and more towels en sheets for a longer stay ( we stayed 12 nights!) would make the stay more agreeable because he has a very nice apartment in a very nice neighborhood.

    Response from Jose:

    Hi Mirriam,
In my long experience of hosting travelers, I know that there is always ONE LIKE YOU : A grumpy old one who doesn't want to communicate directly on the spot but like to complain in the back when it's too late, and not being afraid to exaggerate or even LIE.

You want a 3 room's apt with 3 balconies in an Ancient Hausman (1900) and freshly renovated building in the heart of the heart of Paris with a 24h room service for 80€ per night…
I am cool, open, flexible and relaxed but not stupid, Mirriam.
You are too strict and UPTIGHT for me, so you are definitely NOT the kind of guest I need.

    Point by point :

    - About the floors:
. Do you know that 92% of parisian buildings have no elevators?
=> It's because the architecture is Ancient (that's what makes this city so charming compared to cities who have been destroyed during World War II and rebuilt in the 50's).

My mother is 81 year's old and lives at the 3rd floor, no lift!
That's why french ladies are so thin and healthy (probably healthier than you :-)
I think you should stop smoking, that's all. I am glad that this trip helped you to exercice a bit.
Anyway, I carried ALL of your suitcases up and down, what else do you want?

    - About the fridge :
We checked it together you and me. I asked you if you wanted to keep the stuff from the previous guest. You said, "it's all right". Nothing was rotten inside. Some guests (and even myself) are happy to find fresh tomatoes, salad and cheese... Question of habit and spirit ;-)

    - About the cleanliness :
You should have told be before that you are an OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder) about cleanliness. I would have told you that my flat were not for you. This white carpet you mentioned is used, right. Guests after guests, it becomes more grey… I put it in the dining-room to "absorb" the noise of the stools on the wooden floor. That's all. If you didn't like it, you could ask me to roll it and move it away. But you DIDN'T !

    - Towels : The best part...
I told you and I shown you the spare towels and spare bed sheets at the top shelve in the wardrobe. I just don't expose them too much otherwise some guests (like you) would use them the first day and ask for more, and more each days. Again : you could have asked while I emailsed you on sunday february 23 :
    - "Hello Mirriam : how are you ? Everything is OK in the apt?"
but instead, you answered on monday february 24 :
    - "We are having good time in this wonderful city and the apt is great!"

You want a 3 room's apt with 3 balconies in an Ancient and freshly remodeled building of 1900 in the heart of the heart of Paris with a 24h room service for 80€ per night…
I am cool, open, flexible and relaxed but not stupid, Mirriam.
You are too strict and UPTIGHT for me, so you are definitely NOT the kind of guest I need.

    Good luck with your OCD.

  • We had a great time at Jose's place. The apartment is very well located and confortable. Jose was super nice with my folks who arrived in Paris before me and weren't at all fluent in French. We had a great time and would certainly go back to the same flat!

  • I agree with the other reviews and we were very pleased with everything and Jose is a great host.
We would be very happy about seeing you again in Paris or Berlin.

  • Jose is really nice and easygoing, and his apartment is ideally located, bright and sunny, and packed with old-world charm. We loved it!

  • My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at Jose's place. Perfect located, lots of space, well equipped and a very fair price. The balconies with view to the vividly square below, was joinable. Jose was a very friendly and informative host even we didn't meet him in person.
    Would like to return!

  • Jose's apartment is simply perfect!! The location is absolutely unbeatable, right in the middle of everything! Lot of cafes, bars, restaurant just down in the same street, many of the main attractions are also in a very short walk. (so you do not even have to spend for a taxi to visit those sites!)
The apartment is clean and very comfortable. We had everything we needed. The WIFI is fast, and reliable. The view from the apartment is great, and the the fact it has 3 different balcony makes this apartment very unique too.
Jose is an awesome host, not only very friendly and always be there for you but also gave lot of good suggestions, ideas what to see, what to visit in Paris.
Overall, if you choose to stay at this apartment you definitely won't regret, its probably the best choice for Paris!!!

  • Jose is a wonderful host and we loved this apartment!

My husband and I moved to Paris in mid-December and needed a place to stay for a couple of months while we got settled in. This was the perfect solution - spacious, furnished with everything we needed, located in a great central area, and of course those three gorgeous balconies! We would have stayed forever if we could. It is a fifth floor walkup so it's definitely not for the lazy, but honestly after the first day or two we got used to the stairs and they didn't bother us anymore. It was good to help us work off the bread and cheese! The internet was fast and reliable, the TV had a ton of stations (as well as a few American news stations when we were desperate to hear some English!, the heat and hot water were strong. The area is very noisy and the old windows are thin, but we got used to it quickly. We actually liked the busy area because there were always things to do, people to meet, and places to shop and eat at all hours.

Jose was a wonderful host, he answered many of our questions about Paris, explained everything in the apartment to us very thoroughly, and he was very flexible with us on checkout since we were having trouble coordinating the move to our new apartment. He checked in with us regularly and made sure we weren't having any problems. We would definitely rent from him again in a heartbeat!

My fully-equiped 3 room's apartment is located in the heart of the heart of Paris and at a very good price! It offers everything you really need to enjoy good vacations in Paris. Welcome to Paris, anyway ! Traveling is my drug! From India, Russia, Sarajevo, West-Africa, Middle-east, Rio, La Pampa... Meeting hundreds of people, learning few languages and losing my "Westerner's dominant certainties" on the way. Have a look on my reviews. I even became real friends with some of my guests/hosts and went to visit them afterwards (Argentina, USA, Italy). That is the Airbnb concept !
