You get the picture - lots of good stuff! Sellwood is consistently named in Portland's "Best Neighborhood" lists for its walkability and character.
Cork floors in main, travertine in the bathroom. New IKEA dark brown cabinetry and countertops. New refrigerator, microwave and glass top stove. If you are in need any other cooking utensils that are not supplied, you are probably a chef that needs to speak with the hostess (and she can provide it for you!).
The "American Sleeper" couch converts into a bed. This is the most comfortable fold out bed in the market. It has a "platform design" (no metal bars). We swear by this bed as we purchased one for our own home several years ago and use it all summer when it is too hot upstairs. Try an internet search or read our guest comments if there are concerns. High thread count sheets and blankets are included.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower with IKEA cabinets, wall heater and travertine floors. We provide soap, shampoo and high quality towels.
A salvaged wood beam runs the top of the roof, allowing for a spacious loft feel. The windows are double paned and the walls/ceiling are fully insulated. There is an electric heater with a thermostat in the main area.
We have a wall mounted 40" Philips TV with DirectTV cable. Internet with WIFI access by Comcast. Clock radio with iPhone charger/connector. Good cell phone signal. Bus service 5 blocks away and a quick (mostly downhill) entrance to the Springwater Bike Trail. Summer renters: We provide a family pool pass for use of the Sellwood pool!

This is a family neighborhood in Portland that has a lot of activity close by yet has peace and quiet off of the street. Please be respectful of our neighbors.
Gina and Andy's guest cottage was a wonderful stay. It certainly was cozy, clean and well-maintained. Thoughtful provisions were provided throughout, as well as generosity and courtesy. Gina and Andy made themselves immediately available to any needs we might have and went the extra mile to make excellent recommendations to make our stay, in the area, even more enjoyable. Thank you, Gina and Andy! We cannot say enough! :)
This was my first experience with Airbnb, and it was absolutely perfect. The lovely little cottage is spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed, quiet, private and restful. Gina and Andy also recently purchased an air conditioner (it's been a hot summer in Portland), which made me happy. The cottage does stay pretty cool thanks to a large shade tree, but the AC was helpful on a few occasions. They also took delivery of a gorgeous new stainless french-door style refrigerator the morning I left, so you can store your vittles in style. I usually hate sleeping on fold-out beds, but I decided to trust the other reviewers who said it was comfortable. They were right! The memory foam topper is great, and there is no discernible "fold-out torture rack" feeling.
The neighborhood of older Craftsman bungalows is charming. It's about a ten minute walk to cafés, restaurants, pubs, breakfast spots, grocery shopping, a movie theatre, etc. It's been a hot dry summer in Portland, and a lot of people are letting their lawns go brown in order to conserve water. Coming from LA, the sight of blonde lawns didn't shock me at all, but someone coming from a more verdant clime might be surprised by the seemingly "dead" yards. They're not dead--just waiting for the rain!
My daughter is living in Sellwood for the summer, so this was the absolute perfect spot for me to land for a few days while I visited her. I just wish she weren't moving in August so I would have reason to stay here again!
Gina and Andy's quaint little Sellwood Cottage was a perfect accommodation in an an awesome part of rustic Portland. An easy walk to shops, restaurants, and bakeries of the local variety, provided convenience as well. Dropping into downtown wasn't challenging (using either Sellwood Bridge, or Hawthorne Bridge), either. Close to parks and bike trails.
Gina and Andy were kind and courteous hosts. I would recommend for any traveler that is seeking a quiet (very quiet), cozy accommodation with plenty of amenities.
The cottage was absolutely wonderful! Everything we could ever need was at our fingertips.
The bed was very comfortable, and the cottage had every convenience possible, tucked carefully into a smaller space. There were even fresh coffee beans and a coffee grinder for our morning coffee.
The location was perfect as it was walking distance to fun shops, and restaurants.
I've already recommended the cottage to a colleague that plans to visit Portland in the future.
Thanks for a great airbnb experience!
My hosts were wonderful and their place is awesome. It's immaculately clean, extremely comfortable, and they've thought of lots of different amenities to include ... they even had a freezer ice pack, which came in handy for my sprained foot.
Although I didn't meet them face to face, they seemed warm and responsive, willing to answer questions about the neighborhood and to help provide directions.
Sellwood is a great area, with easy access to downtown Portland and to Reed College. It has a warm, neighborhood-y feeling, with lots of shops, restaurants, and cafes within easy walking distance. I would definitely stay here again, and so should you!
We walked in to a very clean and tidy space, with the windows open, and a fan gently moving the air. Since Portland was in the midst of a rare heat wave, this was most welcome. We appreciated Gina and Andy's thoughtfulness. As a real estate broker, I know the critical importance of location, and this charming studio cottage exceeded that requirement ten fold. Quietly nestled within the Sellwood section of Southeast Portland, this place is walking distance to all that was important to us - rarely did we find the need to use the car. We've already recommended it to someone, and we're comforted in knowing that we have found our "go to" destination, since we'll be returning every year to visit my girlfriend's family - a mere 1/2 block away, an arrangement made by dumb luck!
My girlfriend and I stayed at Gina and Andy's place for four nights in July. Gina and Andy were extremely hospitable and made our time in Portland an absolute joy. Their recommendations were fantastic. While they were always available to answer our questions, they never impeded on our personal time. With the Pacific Northwest experiencing an abnormal heatwave at the time, they even purchased an air conditioner for the guest house in advance of our arrival. We could not have asked for better hosts.
The guest house is exactly as pictured in the photos. Very comfortable setup with a great bathroom, kitchen, and pull-out bed. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
About the Host, Gina And Andy
We love Portland and our Sellwood neighborhood. We met at a party in 1993, started dating in 2000 and married in 2004. Gina moved into the house after the wedding and has endured many construction projects!
We joined Airbnb in 2012 and wondered "Why would people want to stay here?" We've rented to parents helping their kids move from college, grandparents visiting grandkids, foodies, ferry boat captains and others... It's been a lot of fun and really gratifying when people ask if they can move in permanently!
Our work weeks are spent in high tech and healthcare. We are the parents of a Schipperke named Chava. She is very friendly and loves our visitors.
Our favorite travel destination is Hawaii and anywhere our family lives. Season ticket holders to Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns soccer teams!
