Cozy, quiet and comfy guesthouse complete with its own fully stocked bathroom and kitchen. Less than a block from one of Portland's best parks and Springwater Bike Trail. Great shopping and restaurants walking distance.
Congrats to the City of Portland and AirBnB agreeing on their historic plan to legalize short term rentals!
Nestled off of one of Sellwood's best streets, this detached guest house features all of the comforts of home. Plenty of tree cover provides nice shade and privacy at the rear of a property.
You can get to nearly anything you need with a 5-10 minute walk.
Sellwood Pool - 1 block
Sellwood Park - 1 block
Bus Stops - 5 blocks
Springwater Trail head - 3 blocks
Oaks Park Amusement - 5 blocks
Sellwood Food Carts (Sushi, Mexican, Thai) - 5 blocks
Sellwood Library, Blue Kangaroo Coffee, Willamette River, New Seasons Market, yoga, bike shops, great Italian, Greek, Japanese and Mexican food a short walk away.
You get the picture - lots of good stuff! Sellwood is consistently named in Portland's "Best Neighborhood" lists for its walkability and character.
Cork floors in main, travertine in the bathroom. New IKEA dark brown cabinetry and countertops. New refrigerator, microwave and glass top stove. If you are in need any other cooking utensils that are not supplied, you are probably a chef that needs to speak with the hostess (and she can provide it for you!).
The "American Sleeper" couch converts into a bed. This is the most comfortable fold out bed in the market. It has a "platform design" (no metal bars). We swear by this bed as we purchased one for our own home several years ago and use it all summer when it is too hot upstairs. Try an internet search or read our guest comments if there are concerns. High thread count sheets and blankets are included.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower with IKEA cabinets, wall heater and travertine floors. We provide soap, shampoo and high quality towels.
A salvaged wood beam runs the top of the roof, allowing for a spacious loft feel. The windows are double paned and the walls/ceiling are fully insulated. There is an electric heater with a thermostat in the main area.
We have a wall mounted 40" Philips TV with DirectTV cable. Internet with WIFI access by Comcast. Clock radio with iPhone charger/connector. Good cell phone signal. Bus service 5 blocks away and a quick (mostly downhill) entrance to the Springwater Bike Trail. Summer renters: We provide a family pool pass for use of the Sellwood pool!
Have a look at our schedule and send us an email. Have a great time on your Portland adventure!

This is a family neighborhood in Portland that has a lot of activity close by yet has peace and quiet off of the street. Please be respectful of our neighbors.
Gina & Andy were wonderful! They made us feel so welcome! The guesthouse was really clean & cozy. The bed was comfortable and had everything we would have needed. There was a welcome basket with maps, menus and guides for the area. Overall - a really lovely stay. Thank you! :)
The guesthouse was very clean and neat. The shower was great and everything felt so comfortable. Great neighborhood, next to beautiful park. Very peaceful, nice experience. Gina and Andy were very responsive and helpful!
This place couldn't have been more perfect for my month long stay in Portland. The size is perfect, for one or two. The location is perfect. I had planned on cooking quite a bit. The kitchen is fully equipped. I ended up eating out frequently. Too many wonderful restaurants are within walking distance to pass up.
The pull out bed has a memory foam topper and is really comfortable.
Andy and Gina are great hosts. They allow for complete privacy but are available within a moment's notice, if needed.
I can't wait to return, which looks like it may be in about 3 weeks. Hope they have a vacancy!
The space was great! Really enjoyed the peaceful location. Sellwood had some great bars and restaurants. Gina and Andy gave me some great suggestions for places to eat in the neighborhood and they were extremely detailed with their directions. And the bed was super comfy, I didn't want to get up some mornings. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you!
G&A checked in with me from before my scheduled arrival all through my stay at the guest house. It was PERFECT!! Thank you for the coffee beans, grinder and coffee maker, I felt right at home. Loved the neighborhood, a few steps to the park and the nature preserve, a few blocks to a fabulous grocery, Grand Central Bakery (my new obsession!), coffee and tea shops, boutiques, antique stores and so much more. Just perfect for my first trip to Portland. I miss everything about it and can't wait to go back!
The hosts, Gina and Andy, were great. They made themselves available for any questions or advice and provided the information needed for accessing and being comfortable in their guesthouse. The sofa-bed was very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet, lovely and wonderful for walks, eating, shopping, walking and there is a great nature walk which has a trail from the beautiful park within a block of the guesthouse. I rented this cottage to host a friend within an interesting Portland neighborhood, and this was the perfect choice. Not recommended for anyone wanting lodgings near rowdy bars.
Gina and Andy made us welcome firstly by allowing us an early check in due to our being in between accommodation. Gina gave us a quick overview of restaurants, walking trails, and other items we might need during our stay. We stayed for 6 nights and felt this was perfect for us, to be close to family. My husband, who works virtually was able to set up his computer and Gina was helpful in getting him a comfortable chair for this purpose.
This little cottage is comfortable and compact. The full kitchen was very well stocked with every possible utensil/pan needed. Great for us as we are concerned about what we eat and this gave us freedom for our own cooking.
We love Portland and our Sellwood neighborhood. We met at a party in 1993, started dating in 2000 and married in 2004. Gina moved into the house after the wedding and has endured many construction projects!
We joined Airbnb in 2012 and wondered "Why would people want to stay here?" We've rented to parents helping their kids move from college, grandparents visiting grandkids, foodies, ferry boat captains and others... It's been a lot of fun and really gratifying when people ask if they can move in permanently!
Our work weeks are spent in high tech and healthcare. We are the parents of a Schipperke named Chava. She is very friendly and loves our visitors.
Our favorite travel destination is Hawaii and anywhere our family lives. Season ticket holders to Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns soccer teams!
