About this listing
If you are going to stay in Siena and would also like to visit the marvelous surrounding places, this charming, little apartment is the best base point for you: in the heart of the city centre and,at the same time, few steps away from the bus station
***Please, read carefully the indications to get here that you'll be able to see on your booking details page after you have booked.***
***Update: we've been remodeling the apartment during the winter (2014/2015), so it looks slightly different from what you see in the first pictures; go to the last pictures of the listing to see how we have rearranged it. I think it is now a little more spacious and comfortable, and the staircase is way less steep than it was before!***
A fully furnished apartment on the first floor (second floor, for American guests ;-) ) in a big historic building in Via dei Montanini (pedestrian area in the historic centre of Siena).
The building is of historical interest and has been recently restored, like the apartment.
The apartment is situated right behind Piazza Gramsci (main bus stop for any urban and extra urban travels you wish to do during your stay).
A very pleasant walk through the main shopping area of Siena (Via dei Montanini and Via Banchi di Sopra) will lead you to Piazza del Campo and the Duomo (Cathedral) in no more than 10 minutes.
The train station is easily reachable with buses from Piazza Gramsci or Piazza del Sale, or walking (15 mins). You will be able to see more detailed info on how to reach the apartment once you have booked.
There is a Taxi Station 200 m from the apt, Piazza Matteotti.
The apartment is 1 min walking from La Lizza and La Fortezza, two beautiful public gardens where you can have nice walks with a stunning view over Siena and the surrounding hills.
It is a loft type apartment with one bedroom, comfortable dining room, a bathroom and an equipped and functional kitchenette if you like to cook. It also has a small balcony with a washing machine. A/C is available.
Hairdryer, american coffee machine, iron and ironing board are provided.
There are 2 single beds in the bedroom (the loft area), and a 120 cm large sofa bed in the living room for a third person. The single beds upstairs can be pushed together with bigger linens and blankets to make a double bed.
Smoking inside the apartment is forbidden, but you can smoke outside (where there is the washing machine).
Via dei Montanini is a central pedestrian street (only residents are allowed to get in there by car) so there are many shops, bars, grocers and a supermarket nearby. The neighbourhood is very quiet and inhabitated mostly by families.
Minimum stay is 2 nights. You can stay 1 night for 100€ if you are two people, or 120€ if you are three people.
If you wish to stay for example 10 days, we will use the weekly price to make the total amount and I will send you a special offer. For 2 weeks stays (or longer), we will calculate the price with the monthly price (for example, 2 weeks will cost you 1800€:2=900€, instead of (phone number hidden)€).
Towels, sheets, WI-FI connection and the cleaning service are provided and included in the price.
Check in is from 2 to 9 pm and check out is by 11 am, but if possibile we can arrange otherwise if you have specific needs (flight landing time, train etc)
Airbnb will block a security deposit of 150€ on your credit card or bank account, and will "unblock" it 48 hours after your check out if we do not find any damage in the apartment - we would obviously keep only the necessary amount to fix the damage, not the entire security deposit.
We kindly ask you to make your booking at least 3/4 days before your arrival, so that we are sure we can host you in the best way possible and provide you anything you need. Anyway we will to do our best also with a shorter notice!
The apartment is entirely reserved for the guests, I won't live there during your stay, but I'll always be easily reachable by phone, messages, e-mails, airbnb etc...
Interaction with Guests
The apartment is entirely reserved for the guests, I won't live there during your stay. Please note that, since I am currently studying in Pisa, I won't always be able to meet you on check in or check out, but my mother, Aida, will be glad to welcome you and show you the apartment; I'll always be easily reachable by phone, messages, e-mails, airbnb etc... Or you can just ring our bell, we live in the same building, so if we are home we will be glad to help you right away!
Besides the beautiful historical building the apartment is in, I think the best feature of this apartment is the location: in the very city historical centre and at the same time less than 100 m from the main bus stop.
The guests are kindly asked to be careful with the furnishing and to be quiet early in the morning or late at night. The guests will also do the dishes and throw the rubbish before leaving, following the instructions provided. Smoking is allowed only in the outside (in the balcony, where there's the washing machine).
My husband and I had a nice stay in Siena at Lyza's apartment. Her mother, Aida, was there at our arrival and upon our departure. She smilingly gave us a run down of the apartment and upon our departure & even called a taxi for us. She was such a pleasure to talk to! Lyza, she's your greatest asset!!
The apartment is small (as advertised) but is very well equipped - especially the kitchen! There are a lot of stairs: up to the 1st floor flat (2nd floor by American standards), up to the loft bedroom and down to the kitchen. If you have difficulty with stairs, this apartment is not for you! Every room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. We were there during some very hot weather and the one air conditioner that's located uniquely in the loft bedroom and the living area kept the entire place at a pleasant temperature. Siena was a great hill town to stay in - it was more open than most and had a lot of variety. It was always a pleasure to go home to Lyza's place which was located by great shopping yet was in a quiet & safe area. Thanks, Lyza, for sharing your home with us and thanks, Aida, for being such a great host!!!
What a great trip to Siena. We were made very welcome by Aida (Lyza's mother), shown around the flat and given maps and information about the town, as well as a gift of traditional biscuits on arrival. The apartment was fantastic, very clean and tidy and very comfortable. It was so quiet despite all the activities of the Palio going on around. The air conditioning was a real bonus as it was very hot. We would definitely recommend Lyza's apartment especially since it is in the centre of the town and very close to amenities, great restaurants and places of interesting. We would love to come back. Thank you Aida and Lyza for making our stay so memorable Best wishes Eileen and Jane
This location is the perfect spot to explore Siena.
One has to know that big Italian houses are similar to the ones in Berlin. They have different courts and Lyzas apartment is in the back court.
So there is little daylight but everything else you need is there. Its a perfect, clean spot and we loved to stay there.
Aida was there as we arrived and showed us the free parking lot by jumping in the car and coming with us.
The conversation with Lyza was always in time, very professional. We followed her recommendations for eating and coffee, quite a good choice.
We highly recommend to stay with this ladies !
We loved our stay at Lyza's apartment. The apartment is beautiful, in a very traditional building on the main street in Siena for shopping. It is the kind of building that you pass and wonder, what sort of lucky people must live there. Lyza welcomed us very well. The apartment was stocked with mineral water, bread, jam, coffee and even a nice box with traditional bisquits as a welcome present. There was also plenty of information about the city, restaurants, etc. The location is great: Piaza del Campo is very close, but more importantly the bus station is just 3 minutes away - so it is super easy to catch a bus to spend a day in Florence, or San Gimignano. Lyza stayed in touch with us the whole time and made sure we are okay and having a nice stay.
Lyra was out of town when we arrived but her sweet mom was there to let us in and show us the cute apartment. Great location! We loved Siena and this place!
The apartment was beautiful just as described. It was a perfect location, right in the old town but also really peaceful and quiet. We had contact with Lyza before we arrived and then her mother greeted us on arrival. Everything was easy and we would love to return soon.

About the Host, Lyza E Aida
Hi! My name is Lyza, I am student in Engineering and Architecture, interested in anything eco and social conscious. I love chocolate, pizza and Chopin.
You might often be welcomed by my parents, my mom Aida and my dad Alberto, because I am studying at the University of Pisa and I am in Pisa most of the time.
We'll make our best to host you and give you some advice on how to live in Siena or Castiglione della Pescaia, where to go, how to get around, what to see, where to eat truly tipical Tuscan food.
