If you are going to stay in Siena and would also like to visit the marvelous surrounding places, this charming, little apartment is the best base point for you: in the heart of the city centre and,at the same time, few steps away from the bus station
***Please, read carefully the indications to get here that you'll receive after you have booked.***
***Update: we've been remodeling the apartment during the winter (2014/2015), so it looks slightly different from what you see in the first pictures; go to the last pictures of the listing to see how we have rearranged it. I think it is now a little more spacious and comfortable, and the staircase is way less steep than it was before!***
A fully furnished apartment on the first floor in a big historic building in Via dei Montanini (pedestrian area in the historic centre of Siena).
The building is of historical interest and has been recently restored, like the apartment.
The apartment is situated right behind Piazza Gramsci (main bus stop for any urban and extra urban travels you wish to do during your stay).
A very pleasant walk through the main shopping area of Siena (Via dei Montanini and Via Banchi di Sopra) will lead you to Piazza del Campo and the Duomo (Cathedral) in no more than 10 minutes.
The train station is easily reachable with buses from Piazza Gramsci or Piazza del Sale, or walking (15 mins). You will be able to see more detailed info on how to reach the apartment once you have booked.
There is a Taxi Station 200 m from the apt, Piazza Matteotti.
The apartment is 1 min walking from La Lizza and La Fortezza, two beautiful public gardens where you can have nice walks with a stunning view over Siena and the surrounding hills.
It is a loft type apartment with one bedroom, comfortable dining room, a bathroom and an equipped and functional kitchenette if you like to cook. It also has a small balcony with a washing machine. A/C is available.
Hairdryer, american coffee machine, iron and ironing board are provided.
There are 2 single beds in the bedroom (the loft area), and a 120 cm large sofa bed in the living room for a third person. The single beds upstairs can be pushed together with bigger linens and blankets to make a double bed.
Smoking inside the apartment is forbidden, but you can smoke outside (where there is the washing machine).
Via dei Montanini is a central pedestrian street (only residents are allowed to get in there by car) so there are many shops, bars, grocers and a supermarket nearby. The neighbourhood is very quiet and inhabitated mostly by families.
Minimum stay is 2 nights. You can stay 1 night for 100€ if you are two people, or 120€ if you are three people.
If you wish to stay for example 10 days, we will use the weekly price to make the total amount and I will send you a special offer. For 2 weeks stays (or longer), we will calculate the price with the monthly price (for example, 2 weeks will cost you 1800€:2=900€, instead of (phone number hidden)€).
Towels, sheets, WI-FI connection and the cleaning service are provided and included in the price.
Check in is from 2 to 9 pm and check out is by 11 am, but if possibile we can arrange otherwise if you have specific needs (flight landing time, train etc)
Airbnb will block a security deposit of 150€ on your credit card or bank account, and will "unblock" it 48 hours after your check out if we do not find any damage in the apartment - we would obviously keep only the necessary amount to fix the damage, not the entire security deposit.
We kindly ask you to make your booking at least 3/4 days before your arrival, so that we are sure we can host you in the best way possible and provide you anything you need. Anyway we will to do our best also with a shorter notice!
The apartment is entirely reserved for the guests, I won't live there during your stay, but I'll always be easily reachable by phone, messages, e-mails, airbnb etc...
Interaction with Guests
The apartment is entirely reserved for the guests, I won't live there during your stay. Please note that, since I am currently studying in Pisa, I won't always be able to meet you on check in or check out, but my mother, Aida, will be glad to welcome you and show you the apartment; I'll always be easily reachable by phone, messages, e-mails, airbnb etc... Or you can just ring our bell, we live in the same building, so if we are home we will be glad to help you right away!
Via dei Montanini is part of the main
Besides the beautiful historical building the apartment is in, I think the best feature of this apartment is the location: in the very city historical centre and at the same time less than 100 m from the main bus stop.
The guests are kindly asked to be careful with the furnishing and to be quiet early in the morning or late at night. The guests will also do the dishes and throw the rubbish before leaving, following the instructions provided. Smoking is allowed only in the outside (in the balcony, where there's the washing machine).
Lyza's apartment was a really nice place to spend a few days in Siena. we were greeted by Lyza's mum when we arrived who was an absolute legend, she was very friendly and bubbly. The place was super clean, it was in a great area, some of the little things were really nice like it was my girlfriends birthday when we were there and Lyza left biscuits for us and Lyza's mum offered to hang out our washing one day, would recommend it to everyone
We didn't get to meet Lyza as she had to be back at University, but we met her mother Aida who was a very warm host. Aida left us some very useful handouts, a great guidebook in english and a thorough list of where to eat/drink in town as well as where to find local specialities. The apartment is amazing and the loft is beautiful. Love the beds, the blankets, the tasteful decor, the warm showers. Very conveniently located and it took us no longer than 10-15 minutes by foot to get to the major landmarks. An extraordinary and unforgettable 2 night stay!
My 29 year old son and I (61 years old) recently stayed in Lyza’s apartment when my art historian son attended a CAA archaeology/technology conference at the Siena University the week before Easter. Lyza and her mother were there to greet us on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. upon arrival, and easily available if we had any questions. They left us delicious Easter cookies and bread from the best bakery in Siena to welcome us. Lyza has also left a basket under the t.v. that has some very useful handouts, maps, great guidebook in English, a book about food and eating rules in Italy, and a thorough list of where to eat/drink in town as well as where to find local specialties. The apartment is amazing and the loft is beautiful. We loved the beds (son slept upstairs in the loft, and I slept on the sofa-bed downstairs), the blankets, the charming decor, convenient and cozy kitchen, and the warm showers. The outside laundry area was not so great for hanging clothes to dry as it is shady and pigeons nest right overhead. When I had trouble getting the outer door to the washing machine on the outdoor patio open, I called Lyza and she had her mother pop over to help. Aida ended up offering to pull the wet laundry out and hang it on her sunnier balcony for me. When I returned to the apartment later that afternoon the clean clothes were folded and waiting for me in the apartment! The only thing lacking was a terrace or patio area to sit in the evening with a glass of wine or in the morning with coffee and there is no view at all. Very clean and conveniently located, and it took us no longer than 10-15 minutes by foot to get to the major landmarks. 5 minute walk to Piazza del Campo and the main bus station with plenty of great shops and a wonderful deli on the doorstep. A great Conad supermarket and the weekly Wednesday open air market are only minutes away. Great communication on Lyza's end leading up to and during the visit. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Siena! I hope to return and stay in the same apartment with my husband to explore more of Siena and Tuscany!
Beautiful, clean one bed flat in the very heart of Siena.
5 minute walk from Piazza del Campo with plenty of great shops and a wonderful deli on the doorstep.
Lyza's apartment is a great place to stay while visiting Siena! Cozy place right in the heart of the city, only a short walk away from Il Campo. The apartment was very clean and Lyza's mother was there to greet us upon arrival. All of the amenities one needs for a home away from home. Great communication on Lyza's end leading up to and during the visit. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Siena!
My friend and I stayed in Lyza's cute apartment for four lovely nights. It was very easy to contact Lyza and if we had an problems she responded promptly. The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped that we could make dinner which was very handy for us. Lyza emailed us while we were there with a list of her favourite local restaurant and there was a map of the area in the apartment that we were able to use while we stayed there. Staying in this apartment made our stay in Siena much more enjoyable :)

I am student in Engineering and Architecture , interested in anything eco and social conscious. I love chocolate, pizza and Chopin. I'll make my best to host you and give you some advice on how to live in Siena or Castiglione della Pescaia, where to go, what to see, where to eat truly tipical Tuscan food.
