The Space

Welcome to my home in Berlin-Schöneberg !

As I live most of the time in Paris, I've decided to rent out my apartment in central Schöneberg, very close to the Schöneberg City Hall, the former city hall of Berlin-West, and with excellent access to public transportation.

My home on the 3rd floor is bright, sometimes very sunny, calm, recently renovated, next to a big and very beautiful PARK with a small lake (50 m to the park), perfect for jogging and walking and relaxing !

A fast and private WiFi + cable INTERNET connection is included in the price.

The 16 m2 LIVING ROOM has a new sofa-bed (180 X 200 cm when turned into a bed) and a second sofa for a comfortable sitting corner, a big dining table for 6 people that can be pulled out into a table for 8, a small couch table and 4 chairs. From the living room, you have access to the big (4 m2) and beautiful BALCONY with a wooden table and two chairs, The balcony overlooks the park.
If needed, an additional mattress 120 x 190cm can be put on the floor in the living room.

The BEDROOM (11 m2) is an independent room with a real bed and a very comfortable mattress, 160 X 200 cm. Plus a new three-door wooden wardrobe with plenty of storage space and a round wooden table with a chair.

The KITCHEN has everything you need for everyday cooking : cutlery, plates and cups and pots, a fridge, a stove, a brand new washing machine. And a beautiful view into the very green, calm and nicely taken care of backyard of my house.

The BATHROOM is partly new with a sink, a bathtub and toilets. It also has a window.

There is HEATING in each room (both in the living room and the bedroom, and also in the kitchen and the bathroom) that can be regulated individually.

Clean SHEETS and TOWELS are provided.

My flat is cleaned with environmentally friendly cleaners. Sustainability is part of my everyday life philosophy.

If you have any kind of allergies (feathers, gluten, lactose), please let me know in advance and I'll do my best to meet your needs. If you are vegan, I'll be more than happy to provide you with specific groceries if I'm in town. I am a vegetarian myself and could give you suggestions on the best veggy places nearby.

As a non-smoker, I expect people to smoke on the BALKONY only, and to be careful with my place. Feel free to contact me if you need more information of any kind.

You'll be staying in the public transportation zone A (inner city) with direct access to S-Bahn trains (Ring/circle line) to Tegel and Schönefeld airports (30/45 min respectively), and a direct bus M 85 from/to the Main Train Station Berlin-Hauptbahnhof (a 20 minutes ride).

Metro stations (U-Bahn) Innsbrucker Platz and Rathaus Schöneberg are a 3-4 minutes walk away, taking you in 4-6 minutes to the trendy Nollendorfplatz and Wittenbergplatz with the KaDeWe department store, and to the historical City West.
Heading South, you'll be in 10 minutes in one of the most important shopping streets in Berlin, the Schlossstr., full of department stores and well-known brands.

Bus M 48 takes you in only 13 minutes to Potsdamer Platz, the heart of Berlin, and then continues through the old historical center of East-Berlin (Reichstag, Brandenburger Tor, Unter den Linden avenue, Humboldt-Universität) to the famous Alexanderplatz. M 48 bus runs day & night.
At night, you'll always have the possibility to come back home using public transportation (bus, S-Bahn or U-Bahn running all night long).

My home is easily accessible by car, close to the main A 100 highway, and there are many parking places in my street.

Next to my place, several specific bike routes cross, taking you everywhere in town. If you'd want to rent a bike to explore the city, there is a bike rental next to my place.
It's easy to access both the Freie Universität (Free University of Berlin - FU) and the Humboldt-Universität (HU) by bike and public transportation.

Nearby, there are some cafés for a typically Berlin-style breakfast/brunch, both inexpensive and organic supermarkets, a bakery, and some rather good restaurants. Akazienkiez and Belziger Str. are nearby.

On Sundays, there is a big flea market next to the Schöneberg City Hall, and every Tuesday and Friday, a great fruits, vegetables, cheese and flower market with some organic options.

Every Wednesday and Saturday until 3pm takes place my favorite market in town, the Winterfeldtmarkt, with many handcrafted goods and fresh & organic foods. U4 (metro line 4 from Rathaus Schöneberg to Nollendorffplatz) takes you there in 4 minutes. Or a nice 9 minutes bike ride/25 min walk.

The Schöneberg City Hall itself is a great venue for expositions. The permanent exposition "Wir waren Nachbarn - We were neighbors", based on decades-long acribic research, tells in a sensitive way the life stories of Jewish people who lived and worked in the Schöneberg neighborhood before WWII. Accessible to English and French speakers as well.

The Odeon cinema shows films in their original version with subtitles, so mostly in English.

A max. of 5 people can sleep at home. There is a second mattress for 1-2 people (120 x 200 cm) that can be put on the floor in the living room.

  • I just spent a week at Fai's place and it was great! The location is convenient and quiet, and its easy to get to the city center. Its really a home away from home! Fai was very helpful with preparing my visit and coordinating my arrival.Everything worked out perfectly and there were no complications. Her father Andreas greeted me at the apartment and even took me for a night tour of Berlin! I can highly recommand this apartment for anyone who is spending some time in the city. Viel Spass!

  • Fai was a very helpful host. Even though she was not in Berlin, she had her friend to greet me and explained to me everything that I needed to know. The apartment was clean and spacious. It was a great experience to have stayed at Fai's apartment in a very safe and convenient location, close to S-Bahn and U-Bahn.

  • Thank you Fai and Inna for your hospitality! We had a great bed and good shower and that was all we needed for our visit. The appartment is situated well in the neighbourhood of U-Innsbrucker Platz and the place itself is clean, quiet and comfortable. It's is very likely we will return to your place our next visit. Thanks again!

  • I needed a place to stay in Berlin close to public transport to the center as well as not too far away from Freie Universität Berlin. Fainas flat was the perfect place for that, furthermore there is a nice park nearby and it's very calm.
I contacted Faina only two days before my arrival since I had to stay in Berlin for unforeseen reasons, but she replied promptly and everything worked out perfectly well! Faina is a nice host and her flat has everything you would need for a short or long term stay.
Strongly recommended for anyone who wishes for a relaxed stay in Berlin!

  • Fai's apartment was exactly what I needed - clean & functional in a quiet and historic neighborhood with good cafes, a farmers market twice a week, organic groceries, easy recycling, etc. Public transportation, quickly connecting you to the whole city, is a five minute walk away. Fai is wonderful - friendly, caring, helpful, knowledgeable. I stayed at her place for a month, got a lot of work done, and had no problems with the flat.

  • Fai's apartment was lovely - the location is superb, very close to a park, in a pleasant part of town, and with very easy access from two stations to anywhere in the city. The apartment is comfortable and well-appointed, and Fai herself is charming too.

Really, I couldn't be happier, and would recommend this to anyone.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Fai´s place so much! Also we liked her
apartment. It is perfect calm and nice location, very close to U-bahn and S-bahn. We would certainly recommend it. Apart from we returned to her place everyday after midnight, we were always looking forward to rest there for a night. Nearby there is fantastic market at Winterfeld platz. We saw many many beautiful places and things in Berlin, most amazing for us was view from Reichstag dome. We also visited Buchstaben musem, such a nice place or Olympia stadion :) We enjoyed long walks along the Spree or local eat places like Maroush (falafel) in Kreuzberg, curry wurst in Curry 36 or very stylis french cafe called Zuckerfee in Pankow. It was nice staying and we
had really nice time in Berlin.

About
Political scientist (IEP & OSI), world traveler, multilingual, warm-hearted and genuinly interested in building a world where borders cease to exist, I'll be happy to welcome you at home in Berlin. Most of the time, I live in Paris and come to Berlin once every six-eight weeks, usually for a week or two. So I decided to rent out my place in Berlin while I am not there. I hope you'll enjoy my home and the beautiful park next to my house, in central part of Berlin-West, Schöneberg. I am passionate about alternative politics, feminism, good documentary films, Russian and Italian opera, delicious vegetarian / vegan cooking, strolling in cities with their history and presence. If you are interested in Berlin beyond the usual touristic sightseeing, I'll gladly help you with informations and insights.
