About This Listing
Welcome to my home in Berlin-Schöneberg !
As I live most of the time in Paris, I've decided to rent out my apartment in central Schöneberg, very close to the Schöneberg City Hall, the former city hall of Berlin-West, and with excellent access to public transportation.
My home on the 3rd floor is bright, sometimes very sunny, calm, recently renovated, next to a big and very beautiful PARK with a small lake (50 m to the park), perfect for jogging and walking and relaxing !
A fast and private WiFi + cable INTERNET connection is included in the price.
The 16 m2 LIVING ROOM has a new sofa-bed (180 X 200 cm when turned into a bed) and a second sofa for a comfortable sitting corner, a brand new Toshiba TV (80cm screen) with international channels, a big dining table for 6 people that can be pulled out into a table for 8, storage space for the bedding, a small couch table and 6 chairs.
If needed, an additional mattress 120 x 190cm can be put on the floor in the living room.
From the living room, you have access to the big (5 m2) and beautiful BALCONY with a wooden table and two chairs, The balcony overlooks the park.
The 1st BEDROOM (11 m2) is an independent room with a real bed and a very comfortable mattress, 160 X 200 cm. Plus a new three-door wooden wardrobe with plenty of storage space, a coffee table and a sofa.
The KITCHEN (6 m2) has everything you need for everyday cooking : cutlery, plates and cups and pots, a coffee maker & electric kettle & toaster & citrus press ; fridge, stove, a washing machine. And a beautiful view into the very green, calm and nicely taken care of backyard.
The BATHROOM (4,5 m2) is partly new with a sink, a bathtub and toilets. It also has a window.
There is HEATING in each room (both in the living room and the bedroom, and also in the kitchen and the bathroom) that can be regulated individually.
Clean SHEETS and TOWELS are provided.
My flat is cleaned with environmentally friendly cleaners. Sustainability is part of my everyday life philosophy.
If you have any kind of allergies (feathers, gluten, lactose), please let me know in advance and I'll do my best to meet your needs. If you are vegan, I'll be more than happy to provide you with specific groceries if I'm in town. I am a vegetarian myself and could give you suggestions on the best veggy places nearby.
As a non-smoker, I expect people to smoke on the BALKONY only, and to be careful with my place. Feel free to contact me if you need more information of any kind.
You'll be staying in the public transportation zone A (inner city) with direct access to S-Bahn trains (Ring/circle line) to Tegel and Schönefeld airports (30/45 min respectively), a direct bus M 85 from/to the Main Train Station Berlin-Hauptbahnhof (a 20 minutes ride) and only 2 S-Bahn stops (or a 5 min bus-ride) from Südkreuz, another major train station for regional, national and international trains.
Metro stations (U-Bahn) Innsbrucker Platz and Rathaus Schöneberg are a 3-4 minutes walk away, taking you in 4-6 minutes to the trendy Nollendorfplatz and Wittenbergplatz with the KaDeWe department store, and to the historical City West.
Heading South, you'll be in 10 minutes in one of the most important shopping streets in Berlin, the Schlossstr., full of department stores and well-known brands.
Bus M 48 takes you in only 13 minutes to Potsdamer Platz, the heart of Berlin, and then continues through the old historical center of East-Berlin (Reichstag, Brandenburger Tor, Unter den Linden avenue, Humboldt-Universität) to the famous Alexanderplatz. M 48 bus runs day & night.
At night, you'll always have the possibility to come back home using public transportation (bus and S-Bahn running all night long).
Bus M 46 takes you in few minutes to Urania, Wittenbergplatz (KaDeWe), Kurfürstendamm, Tauentzienstraße, Gedächtniskirche, Zoologischer Garten.
My home is easily accessible by car, close to the main A 100 highway, and there are parking places in my street.
Next to my place, several specific bike routes cross, taking you everywhere in town. If you'd want to rent a bike to explore the city, there is a bike rental next to my place.
It's easy to access the Freie Universität (Free University of Berlin - FU), the Humboldt-Universität (HU) and the Technische Universität (TU) by bike and public transportation.
Nearby, there are some cafés for a typically Berlin-style breakfast/brunch, both inexpensive and organic supermarkets, a bakery, and some rather good restaurants. Akazienkiez and Belziger Str. are nearby.
On Sundays, there is a big flea market next to the Schöneberg City Hall, and every Tuesday and Friday, a great fruits, vegetables, cheese and flower market with some organic options.
Every Wednesday and Saturday until 3pm takes place my favorite market in town, the Winterfeldtmarkt, with many handcrafted goods and fresh & organic foods. U4 (metro line 4 from Rathaus Schöneberg to Nollendorffplatz) takes you there in 4 minutes. Or a nice 9 minutes bike ride/25 min walk.
The Schöneberg City Hall itself is a great venue for expositions. The permanent exposition "Wir waren Nachbarn - We were neighbors", based on decades-long acribic research, tells in a sensitive way the life stories of Jewish people who lived and worked in the Schöneberg neighborhood before WWII. Accessible to English and French speakers as well.
The Odeon cinema shows films in their original version with subtitles, so mostly in English. Some smaller and family-owned cinemas within a historical setting are within walking distance (Bundesplatz-Studio, Cosima, Xenon).
A max. of 7 people can sleep at home. The 7th person sleeps on a mattress (120 x 200 cm) that can be put on the floor in the living room.
Please leave the kitchen clean and the dishes thourougly washed.
Please take off your shoes when entering the flat.
I expect people to be very careful with my home.
Smoking is allowed on the balcony ONLY !
If you plan to use the washing machine, please bring your own soap.
That's how the bedroom looks like now : a new three-door wooden wardrobe and a round wooden table next to the bed
My friends and I stayed one night at Fai's flat. The location is a bit on the outside of the city, but perfectly reachable with U-bahn. Also there are places to park which is always nice if you have a car.
The flat is also very comfy, equipped with full kitchen and bathroom, for the price it's awesome and I can only recommend it!
There is a small book full of tips on the neighbourhood, super convenient!
Danke (-:
Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet und sauber.
Ebenso Waschbecken, Badewanne und WC.
Wir bedanken uns für die Gastfreundschaft!
I and my relatives stayed at Fai's appartments for 5 days. The flat is comfortably situated in a very green district. There are a lot of possibilities for shopping. You can easily reach different parts of city center in 15-20 minutes. In the flat you can find all necessary things for comfortable living.
Fai and her friends are very nice and open towards their guests and ready to help any time. During our communication via airbnb Fai answered all my questions and was very attentive. Her detailed answers and very thoughtful discription of the district and its infrastructure were very helpful.
i and my family will be glad to stay at Fai's appartment again
Fai was a great host. Instructions on how to reach the apartment were perfectly clear, and upon arrival, the apartment was really clean and organised. Every facility worked perfectly, and we found several tourism booklets with suggestions of nice things to do in Berlin. The wifi worked very well, and that helped us make our daily itineraries very easily. The apartment was very well located near a subway station bringing us directly to the city centre, and the access to the motorway through which we accessed Berlin centre. Furthermore, communication and organisation with Fai was flawless, and we loved the fact that she left coffee! :)

About the Host, Fai
Political scientist (IEP & OSI), world traveler, multilingual, warm-hearted and genuinly interested in building a world where borders cease to exist, I'll be happy to welcome you at home in Berlin.
Most of the time, I live in Paris and come to Berlin once every six-eight weeks, usually for a week or two. So I decided to rent out my place in Berlin while I am not there. I hope you'll enjoy my home and the beautiful park next to my house, in central part of Berlin-West, Schöneberg.
I am passionate about alternative politics, feminism, good documentary films, Russian and Italian opera, delicious vegetarian / vegan cooking, strolling in cities with their history and presence.
If you are interested in Berlin beyond the usual touristic sightseeing, I'll gladly help you with informations and insights.
