These sweet rooms are our best bargain. Two of the rooms come with a bunk bed with two double beds, a fan, shelves and closet, and a shared bathroom. Three have one double bed and great views of either the ocean or the garden, and one has one single bed with an ocean view. Prices start at $19 per night for one person, $27 for two people, $35 for three people and $43 for four people, plus 13% tax.
We are only 200 meters from the entrance to the town of Puerto Viejo, right on the famous Playa Negra, a black sand beach. We can help you with all of your tour and transportation arrangements in Costa Rica. We look forward to making you feel at home!

ABOUT KAYA'S PLACE
Kaya's Place is a 26 room lodge on the stunning Black Beach in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. Built in the Afro-Caribbean "Rustico" style, the hotel is artistic and unique. Local woods and materials have been used in their natural state, making each room different and beautiful. Every space you encounter will be a pleasurable experience. The sound of the waves is always in the background, soothing and tranquil, guaranteed to take you away from the stress of everyday life. Inside the hotel, you will find many places to relax. The reception area is more like a living room, with a gigantic sofa, television, people to chat with and view of the ocean. The large deck upstairs has a wonderful ocean view with hammocks and sofas - perfect for reading or taking a siesta. In the back, gardens line the walkway, filled with local plants and flowers. A covered sitting area in the garden offers another opportunity to meet and enjoy the company of others while you stay with us. Our restaurant is spacious and open with view of the ocean and a small creek with fish, water lilies, crab and other water life.

Located in Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean Coast, the area is blessed with natural beauty in the form of dense jungle with impressive flora and fauna and some of the world's most beautiful beaches. Kaya's Place is part of the growing eco-tourism industry that supports the preservation of almost 2 million square meters of primary rainforest. Taxes from this industry support the many national reserves and efforts to maintain the natural resources. We are dedicated to preserving these resources while sharing it with all the people that come to know this amazingly beautiful part of Costa Rica.

Our recent renovation of Kaya's Place was completed with the same philosophy. No lumber or materials were taken from the primary rainforest. Much was recycled wood or dead fall from local farms and lumber that had washed up from the ocean and rivers. With these natural and renewable materials, we achieved a unique character with rustic and artistic designs.

Nicely decorated place, nice for groups of backpackers. Thin walls, so you need some luck with the neighbours.

Kayas place is a cozy basic hotel close to Puerto Viejo town. The beach (playa negra) is just across the street and there is a restaurant and a brewery on the location. The place has a nice common area and the staff is very helpful. The rooms are very basic and small with shared bathrooms but it has everything that you need. Might be a little pricy for what you get.

We were there for only one night so we can't tell a lot about kayas place. But everything was clean and the reception was helpful. The only thing we don't liked was the noise from the was very loud in the night.

It's a neat and tidy rustic beach accomodation. Just a short walk into town. Beds a little saggy in our room, but very good value.

CAUTION: This place was ROUGH really unprofessional. Overall a horrible experience. And we left before even sleeping a single night there. They greeted us by saying they had no idea we had a dog (we made it VERY VERY CLEAR) Then. We were put in a room in the middle of the building. When we asked for a non central place. We went out for dinner and saw a prostitute fight 3 houses away from the place. They responded 2 days later to us the first reservation. Then, to top it off. The "bed" was a gnarly piece of foam. Just foam. It was not at all a good experience. And we are glad we didn't have to sleep there.

Hi Edward! We've received your email explaining that this review was for another hotel. I don't know if there's a way to modify this one, or if you can comment after us. Anyway, we're glad to hear that you had a great time with us!! Hope to see you again!!

Very welcoming. Hostess spoke good English. The room was as listed and the property was more expansive than I realized. Natural vegetation can be found all over the grounds. Well kept and Elsie, I think, won't cut you any slack on the language barrier. Very cool lady. J.T., the owner, brews a variety of craft beers which are excellent. I stayed long enough to consider them family and will return for a visit next year.
