We look forward to welcoming you to our home in Newton, Massachusetts – a lovely suburb and neighborhood, just 7 miles (12 km) from Boston and 8 miles (13 km) to Cambridge – and only a 4-minute walk to the Newton Highlands subway station.

You might also like to know that Newton has consistently ranked as one of the best cities to live in in the country.

Our home was built in the late 1920s. We live in this house
and are only the second owners. We're certain you will really enjoy staying in a grand home that has been beautifully maintained and updated, including a recent designer kitchen, where you will enjoy a wonderful, complimentary breakfast. (There is no cooking allowed). Centrally air-conditioned, complete with WiFi, your home-away-from-home is filled with antiques and artwork, and offers a choice of three sunny guest bedrooms and one private bath and shower. (For people with mobility issues, stairway to bedrooms and shower usage will be a challenge).

The larger guest room has one king-size bed; another guest room has one queen-size bed; and the third guest room has one double bed. (There are no twin beds). This flexible arrangement is perfect for couples and/or families, up to four people. Ours may not be an ideal place to hang out during the day. You'll want to be out and about as much as we are.

A washer and dryer and an Internet-enabled big screen, high-definition cable TV is available for your convenience and pleasure in our downstairs playroom.

We are a short walk to two pedestrian-friendly village centers with shopping and restaurants: Newton Highlands and Newton Centre; as well as parks, playgrounds and lovely Crystal Lake.

Enjoy a variety of nearby top-notch restaurants, diners, pizza, ice cream and yogurt places, coffee shops and bakeries. You will also find post offices, gas stations, drug stores, gyms, yoga studios, cleaners, banks, shops, consignment stores, as well as Newton’s nationally acclaimed, large Public Library.

Also enjoy 19th century Victorian and other notable architectural style homes as you drive or walk around our beautiful city. Jog along Commonwealth Avenue – the route of the world-famous Boston Marathon. And if you do have a car, you may share parking in our driveway, or park on our street from April 15 to November 15.

Just minutes to the Massachusetts Turnpike and only 13 miles (21 km) from Logan International Airport, we are a 15-20 minute commute to the country’s top-rated hospital, Massachusetts General, as well as such major hospitals as Children’s, Brigham & Women’s, and the Longwood Medical Center via Green Line D train; and 20 minutes to fashionable Back Bay and Newbury Street, the world-acclaimed Museum of Fine Arts and Science Museum (we have free passes for two people).

Boston College and Chestnut Hill are 5 minutes away and we are also close to and commutable to Harvard, MIT, Boston University, Berklee College of Music, Brandeis, Simmons, Northeastern, Emerson, Tufts, Babson, Wellesley College, and Wentworth for parent's weekends or college visits. Did you know that the Boston area is home to 22 colleges and universities?

And if you're a sports fan, there's no place better. Depending on the season, and if they are in town, you may want to catch a Red Sox game, the football Patriots, Boston Bruins hockey, or Boston Celtics basketball.

And while here in New England, keep in mind that the beautiful and charming Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, as well as Cape Cod, the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, Portland, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont are only hours away.

Safe travels. We look forward to meeting you.

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay with Les and Barbara in their beautiful home in Newton. We enjoyed Barbara's famous oatmeal every morning. We definitely felt like members of the family. One couldn't ask for more gracious hosts.

It was a wonderful 4-day stay at Les' house. All of my family members love the hospitable hosts, Les and Barbara, and the beautiful! The house is situated in between my college and Boston downtown, so it was really convenient to commute.

Hello, Hola, Bonjour, Ciao, Hallo, Ni Hao!

I’m an executive recruiter, enjoy sports and being active (I'm am an avid tennis and softball player). My wife Barbara (originally from Montreal) is a real estate broker. We met in New York City (I was in advertising, she was in publishing), and have lived in Boston (where I grew up) for nearly 30 years. We have two adult children and two grandkids; and together, we have traveled to many places over the world– taking pleasure from different cultures and meeting all kinds of people.

We both enjoy our families, music, art, theater, museums, gardening, good food and wine; and especially people with a good sense of humor. If you want to visit the Boston area, see more of New England, or explore one of America’s top-rated suburban communities as a future place to live – attend events, visit friends or relatives, work, or just sightsee, our gracious home may be just the place for you.

We look forward to meeting you and enjoying your stay in our Airbnb 5-Star rated home!
