The place is very clean and quiet. However there is no heating in the bathroom and kitchen. It takes time to get used to this.
For the location, the house sits in a good neighbourhood.
In terms of service, the host Thorne is more like a landlord than someone providing a rooming service. He did help me to arrange a private cab to pick me up from the airport. However he is not very patient with people's different living habits, which made me a bit uncomfortable.
The door of my room made a much louder sound than the ones I previously had, and the noise I made really disturbed Thorne. I was suggesting to put a temporary cushion to lessen the sound in case I forget, so I asked for his permission to do so, but he was too busy to hear that one sentence idea. Later I seized another opportunity to explained my proposal to him. And I told him it was a precautionary measure, since I opened and closed the doors several timea a day, and sometimes I just forget to do it quietly. The reply I got from him was that if I couldn't even close the doors quietly, what else could I do.
Here is another incident. Since I was staying at his place for three weeks, I used his address to receive my mail, and he got a bit angry with that, and told me that I should asked him for a PO box instead. Okay, my bad for I didn't realize that I am only authorized to use the room but not to use the address.
And that is my first experience with Airbnb.
As a "GUEST" in a persons "PRIVATE HOME" it's considered manners to ask before just using someones personal address for who knows what. YOU NEVER ASKED you just assumed you had the right. RUDE.
To date, the most traumatic experience I've had hosting on AIRBNB since 2010.
Rude, argumentative and DIRTY !! The state in which the SHARED bathroom AND TOILET was left on daily basis (pubic hair, toothpaste, residue in the toilet bowl. Revolting and disrespectful in the extreme !
As for the heating , total fabrication, he never left the room, ran up my heating bill and repeatedly tripped out my power supply in the process not to mention slamming the bedroom door continuously day and night despite me explaining twice that it's an old building, banging doors disturbs the neighbors who are studying and myself who works long erratic shifts either day or night. Total disregard !
And to correct the above comment my words were " If you can not get it right to close a door respectfully of others then you have issues." All I can say is good riddance, I personally would not recommend this person to fellow hosts on AIRBNB
Maybe you should consider a barn or a kennel to be more suitable for your future accommodation requirements ...
Thorne is a great host. I spent 4 weeks in the room and have little to complain about. The location is great, plenty of supermarkets close by, lots of cupboard space, kitchen with all necessities available, wifi that works, and anything else that you need. Would recommend this place to anyone who's interested in visiting London.
The location was really great, the apartment is located in a quiet neighbourhood close to the metro station Earls Court (Picadelly Line). With the metro it takes about 15-20 minutes to get to Picadelly, Buckingham palace and Westminster and Harrods is even in walking distance. The room/apartment was very clean and nice. Thorne was a very friendly and easy-going host, he made us feel so comfortable. We had a great time and would definitely stay there again. So thanks for everything Thorne :O)
Great location between heathrow and central London on Piccadilly line. Nice bed and bedroom for weekend break. Owner was available and friendly which was great as our flight was delayed and we arrived late . He also let us check out late as no one else was after us. Thank you!
Thorne is one of the most considerate and thoughtful host I've come across. He helped me with my lost luggage and booking a return trip to the airport. Thorne was also flexible about check out time.
The room was comfortable with all the expected amenities. Location is perfect and convenient to restaurants, subway, grocery stores, nail salons and spas.
I would recommend staying with Thorne if and when you're in London.
Thorne is a great host. Pre-booking communication is great. When I arrived at the place, he is there to welcome me. The room is clean and spacious. Thorne is even nice enough to lend me his charger since I forgot mine. I would highly recommend Thorne's place.
