Visit Killybegs, the largest fishing port in Ireland where in 1558 it was the last port of call for the Spanish vessel La GIrona which dropped anchor in the habour when the Spanish Armada arrived on the Irish coast during Spain's war with England. While away the hours watching the fishing boats come and go or catch a glimpse of the seals in the harbour. Maybe visit the Carpet Factory of the Killybegs Maritime & Heritage Centre - a unique experience for visitors.
Donegal Town is within driving distance (28 km). Why not visit the castle built by the O'Donell Chieftain in the 15th century beside the River Eske. The castle is furnished throughout and includes Persian rugs and French tapestries. Or drive a little further and take in some shopping in Letterkenny and vist Glenveagh National Park - a Scottish style castle surrounded by one of the best gardens in Ireland, with its lakes, glens and woods with herds of red deer.
