Fern Glen House is perfectly situated to enjoy all the Juneau has to offer. It is located halfway between downtown Juneau and the airport. We had a rental car but there is also a bus stop at the bottom of the road.
Ruth and Allan are very accommodating and will help you out in any way that they can. Our room was inviting and the bed was very comfortable - we have never slept so well! We had the downstairs area to ourselves and could come and go as we pleased. Their house is very clean and has all amenities should you need to use them. The grounds of the house are beautiful and there is wild forest that backs onto the property. It is so quiet!
We would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend staying here.
Ruth and Allan were awesome hosts. They provided all the amenities one could want, including letting us hang out in their space and use their kitchen and hot tub! They were super nice and made us feel like old friends right away.
Ruth and Allan were as hospitable as can be. They gladly allowed us to use the room, kitchen and even their hot-tub. We had an enjoyable stay. Their dogs were the sweetest. We felt at home and safe.
For anyone traveling to and from Downtown Juneau from the bus stop:
Bus 3 and 4 runs frequently FROM Downtown to Fern Glen. Just note that the buses going TO Downtown from Fern Glen may not stop - in that case, it is easy to call a cab.
We had a great time in Juneau! Ruth and Allan were very helpful in recommending and showing us things to do around Juneau. We felt very welcome and comfortable in their home! The hot tub was great to relax in after long days of hiking and sight seeing!
The hosts let us use their grill to cook salmon that we caught on a fishing trip. Allan gave us great hiking advice so we had a great experience with our hike. Their hot tub felt great after that 10 mile jaunt. The neighborhood was very nice and right on the public bus line so it was a short walk down the hill to catch the bus into downtown.
The room was a little small but the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was small also and we walked through the utility room to get to it. We had a great experience there and so will you if you are a little flexible.
We stayed with Ruth and Allan from June 20 until June 24 2015 and very much enjoyed our stay. We felt very welcome in their home. They invited us to join them in their living room and to use their well-supplied kitchen as if it was our own. Both Allan and Ruth were very accommodating and were happy to give us suggestions and directions. This was our first experience with Airbnb and honestly at first we felt a bit uncomfortable with the idea of staying in someone's home. We quickly became comfortable with the arrangement due to their kindness and welcoming attitudes.
The neighborhood is residential, very quiet and secluded yet conveniently located. Plenty of large grocery stores and restaurants are nearby.
Their home is nicely landscaped and and the hot tub looked inviting. The bedroom is nice with a very comfortable bed, cable tv, and large closet. It has a private bath with shower close to the bedroom.
We would recommend the Fern Glen house without hesitation.
We had a truly remarkable time in Alaska and enjoyed our days in Juneau all the more because of the lovely setting and helpful hints we got from our hosts. Ruth and Allan are such interesting people, and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
