Our stay was wonderful, check in was easy, and the house was clean with all the amenities we could need. It's great to be so close to the hotel, so you can go to the Lobby for coffee, use the pool, and the bar at night is adorable and fun. One thing that we didn't realize when booking is the house is a duplex- you're sharing with another attached space.
We arrived and learned (after losing poser in the living room and dining room) that a breaker problem mentioned in a previous review, had not been fixed. The staff did their best and when we came back from dinner the lights were on. We were very cautious about using heaters and had a fire. The house downstairs was cold in the AM - 58degrees! We were given a credit of 1/2 the cost of a nights stay for the inconvenience. On another note, the bathroom upstairs is not convenient for 4 adults. There is no place to hang a towel, and the counter around the sink is tiny! All in all, the house felt cold and uninviting.
Perfect Ojai base for a New Year's celebration. The Rancho House is a charming and well-decorated house at the Ojai Rancho Inn. Our group loved having a place where we could relax, cook and spread out while also being able to avail ourselves of the Rancho Inn amenities- especially loved the very hip bar! Super comfy beds, spacious kitchen, great table for cozy dinners and awesome fireplace.
We had such a great time at the guest house! It was spacious and stylish and we just relaxed, drank wine, and had a lovely girls weekend. The house is walking distance to town and just so convenient. The Ojai Rancho Inn staff is always welcoming and friendly and we would love to stay there again in the future.
Upon arrival with my 4 month old baby, I plugged in the space heaters they had provided to heat the chilly house. The power immediately shut off to the majority of the living area, and the staff of the Rancho was unable to fix it. So, for the first night of our stay (where the temp dropped to 29 degrees), we used the oven to heat the lower level of the house, and a space heater to heat the bedroom (which, thankfully, still had power). I was traveling alone with my baby, feeling desperate and unable to fathom a second night in the dark and cold, so I asked for candles and blankets to make it through the second night (an electrician was scheduled to come on the third day of my stay to sort the power out). Wonderfully, the woman at the front desk at the Rancho came over and was able to fix the breaker, so we only were without light and heat for 24 hours instead of 48. Not wanting to be a sourpuss, I wrote private guest feedback, hoping to get, at minimum, an apology for this cold dark mess. And, hopefully, some kind of refund for the stressful first day of my stay. But no response. So, I'm sorry to air my grievances in public, but I just can recommend staying at this place, nor do I ever want to stay there again.
