Cozy sleeping loft overlooking living room in circa-1900 East Austin home. Located in the Swede Hill neighborhood, we are a 6 block walk to the Texas Capitol and less than 10 blocks from UT's football stadium. We are close to bus routes and in walking distance of Austin's entertainment districts.
Our home has plenty of history and charm. Think bookshelves and comfy couches, spacious rooms, and plenty of bread, fruit, jam & tea always in the kitchen... accented sometimes by the smells of Jude's wonderful cooking! We have a fine front lawn, a screened-in back porch and a HUGE backyard with a pond that hosts fish, frogs, lilies, and a turtle named Karl. We have one sweet dog named Gracie who wanders in and out, the house is handicap accessible with a handicap-friendly bathroom, and all rooms have access to WIFI and the washer/dryer.
The Loft itself requires climbing a ladder, has low-ceilings and is perfect for 1 person, though we can accommodate 2 up there (queen-sized Sealy Posture-Pedic mattress) for an additional fee.
We comply with Austin’s Short Term Rental regulations. All city and state taxes are included in your price (but we pay 15% tax on all revenues).
Guests have full use of the house: kitchen, laundry room, yard, sunroom and porches, and living room.
Interaction with Guests
Two of us live here permanently and someone is almost always around to answer questions! The house can be as much of a home to you as you like during your stay :)
Swede Hill is an eclectic neighborhood; fun, funky, safe, and close to UT campus and stadiums and downtown.
Swede Hill is in walking distance of Downtown. We are 4 blocks from the Airport Flyer Stop and 1 block from a bus stop. We are a 4 minute walk from the nearest bike share station (austin has 40 stations).
Other Things to Note

I was just passing through Austin but I was able to feel at home. I would recommend.
Jude is the most welcoming AirBnB host I've had yet. She included me in some small events she hosted at the house, and was incredibly generous. Jude's roommates, Dennis and David, were also very friendly and welcoming. Gracie the dog is handsome, gentle, and full of love. The sleeping arrangements were as advertised, and Jude was really proactive about asking for ways to improve the space as well. The neighbourhood itself is very nice, and it is right next to U Texas at Austin (which was perfect for my needs). The only inconvenience in the neighbourhood was the motorway, but once I knew my way around it wasn't a big deal.
The loft-room is very cozy and it was a surprisingly comfortable place to sleep. The house is located very close to Franklin BBQ which turned out great for me. Jude was very friendly and offered cookies upon arrival, and coffee/tea in the morning. Perfect for one person passing by Austin.
This was my first trip to Austin and Jude and David helped me feel right at home. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood with parking right out front, just blocks from the Capital and UT. Also, just a 10-15 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of 6th street. The house is clean and Gracie the dog is super friendly. The door has a combination entry system and Jude made sure to send me the code before I arrived. She was very responsive and welcoming and I would highly recommend her as a host.
Jude and her housemates made me feel extremely welcome from the minute I arrived in Austin. Her house is beautiful and unique, a real cozy, homey atmosphere. I liked the loft space very much. She was very helpful, giving me information and history about the city, and suggesting day trips in the surrounding area. I was able to come and go as I pleased, but I was also invited to stay for dinner whenever I wanted. I would definitely with Jude again, and I feel like I made a friend during my stay!
My staying at Jude's house was just perfect.
Because of the Christmas' holidays Jude wasn't there but David was a perfect host.
The neighborhood is quiet and close to most of Austin's attractions (Capitol, 6th street, Congress...), the house is nice and cosy and the backyard seems to be the perfect place for spring or summer's evenings.
Thanks a lot Jude and David, sure I will contact you for my next stay in Austin.
Jude and I spent a few moments getting acquainted upon my arrival. We had tons to talk about and sure we could have stayed up to the wee hours of the morning chatting.
Bananas, apples, snacks, an array of teas and coffee in kitchen for the morning was excellent starters to my day.

A retired corporate and nonprofit exec, I have a 20,000 volume rare book store, a sweet rescue dog and a vibrant garden and fish/turtle pond that keep me very busy. My housemate, David, is a singer/dancer and Uber driver, also at your service.
