The Space

This beautifully furnished one bedroom flat comes equipped with a full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, and back porch. Other amenities include TV, cable, DVD player and wireless internet and a cozy bed with comfortable linens. It is the upper unit of an older home. The kitchen is equipped with a full size refrigerator, micro wave, gas range, cabinets with dishware, coffee maker, etc. It is completely private as well.

The apartment easily accommodates 3, with a queen bed in the bedroom and a sofa sleeper in the living room.

The location of the home is in the centrally located neighborhood of Brooklyn in SE Portland, only a few miles from downtown Portland. Within blocks you'll find excellent dining, 24 hr fitness, one of the best concert venues in Portland (Aladin Theatre), movie theatre, coffee shops, shopping, and everything you could possibly need. Here is a list of what is available within walking distance: Papa Haydn's, Yukon Tavern, Iron Horse Restaurant, Dairy Queen, QFC, New Seasons, art stores, antique shops, wine bars, ice cream, Starbucks, Marsee Baking, Cha Cha Cha, Yoga, Salons, Dry cleaners, the best sushi in Portland, and Oaks Bottom Brewery.

Brooklyn is located adjacent to Sellwood which is one of the premier neighborhoods in Portland, and the Brooklyn Flat is a lovely home that you'll thoroughly enjoy.

Voted the best family neighborhood by Portland Monthly Magazine, Sellwood has it all. Eastmoreland Park is with easy walking distance, as well as the Springwater Cooridor, Sellwood Park, Oaks Park, and Oaks Bottom. There is also a laundromat just down the street about 3 blocks for your laundry needs.

I'll gladly point you in the direction of all the wonderful activities this neighborhood has to offer. But if you'd rather discover the neighborhood on your own, that's fine too. There is a lockbox with key to get into the unit, and once you're settled in, if you have questions about what is around the neighborhood to do or see, just let me know.

Pets are welcome! There is a fee of $5/day. Just consider the pet as one additional person and the fee will automatically be added.

Public transportation is readily available, with local bus service within one block that will take you anywhere you need to go, including downtown Portland within about a 10 minute bus ride.

This fully furnished home is one half of a duplex and is available for monthly rental at a significantly discounted price. If you have any questions about it please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

  • Working with John was very easy. We were visiting relatives so didn't need help while on-site. The apartment was as described and an overall pleasant experience. There is a train that goes by on a routine basis but we got used to the noise. The apartment is well stocked with kitchen and bathroom items so there were a lot of little things we didn't have to go out and buy - thanks for those added touches!

  • This was a short, efficient visit for us. We were just stopping over for one night and wanted a clean, comfortable, accessible place to stay. John was easy to communicate with and had us any very easily, even with our late arrival. The place was just the right size for us (there were 3 of us) and was in a nice little part of town. We had no problem getting too and from various places in Portland that we wanted to visit.

  • The flat was very nice, neighborhood was good, parking was readily available. Bed was comfy too!

  • John's apartment was exactly as described! So cute and comfortable. There is a back porch, kitchen, living room, and comfy bedroom! The only downfall was the uncomfortable (springs exposed) couch.. We couldn't comfortably sit together and watch a movie which was a bummer. Everything else was so lovely though. I'd recommend staying here and will stay again!

  • Everything was pretty well as described. House was a little order than anticipated. I'd recommend adding a full length mirror for the ladies. Only one bathroom so be prepared for that. Bed was super comfortable. Overall it was nice and clean except for the few pet hairs here and there.

Very close to a lot of places like Division St where we enjoyed Pine State Biscuits. Several coffee shops within walking distance was nice.

It is located next to a garage where there are landscapers and such working throughout so you may get a wake up call but nothing too early. John was very communicative and even let us check in early. I'd highly recommend the place if you like simplicity and a relaxed neighborhood.

  • We had a great time in Portland and it was great to be able to come back every night to this awesome apartment. Our host was very accommodating and made sure we had every thing we needed. The neighborhood was nice and had some good coffee and cafe spots to walk to. We had a very good experience!

  • This was my first experience staying somewhere through AirBNB. John walked me through bits of the process that I didn't quite understand yet. He was consistently very quick to reply (usually within minutes, always within the hour). He was very courteous and friendly. He made me feel comfortable to reach out to him if I needed anything. He even reached out to me the day of my travel to wish me a safe drive down to Portland, and remind me to reach out if I needed anything.

His apartment is really nice. I love the hardwood floors and features of the classic old home (base molding, claw foot tub, etc.). The location was great too. It was cheaper than staying right in downtown Portland, so it was very affordable, but it also had the convenience of being just a 10 minute drive to downtown Portland. It was super convenient in every way. I felt very at home there.

  • John was very nice, easy to communicate with, and very accommodating. His one bedroom flat has great personality, is very comfortable and clean, and has lots of natural light and a balcony porch off the kitchen for some fresh air. I would highly recommend renting from John and renting this cute flat in the wonderful Brooklyn neighborhood.

I grew up in Portland and feel fortunate to live in such a fantastic city and neighborhood, and I'm excited to share it with you. I'm a very active person and I enjoy all the great activities Portland has to offer, including skiing, snowboarding, surfing, biking, running, you name it. I would love to make recommendations about what to do during your stay here. There are many things very close by. You won't be disappointed with the accommodations or the activities that are available to you. I've traveled to France, Germany, and Japan, and truly appreciate the diverse cultures around the world. I feel humbled when I travel because of all the warm and kind people I meet. I want your experience here in Portland to be great and I'll do what I can to help you enjoy your stay.
