This beautiful 2 bedroom plus den home is newly updated, located in a great neighborhood, and is close to just about everything.

The Space

Beautifully furnished three bedroom one bath home in one of the most coveted neighborhoods in Portland comes equipped with flat screen TV, cable, DVD player, WIFI, cozy beds in each bedroom, and hardwood floors throughout. This is a newly remodeled home and it is well appointed.

The home is equipped with a fully remodeled kitchen but if you want to get out and try the many restaurants in the neighborhood you won't be disappointed. Two of the best restaurants in Portland are within walking distance! And a new brew pub just opened down the street.

Within a few blocks you'll find world class dining, a movie theatre, coffee shops, shopping, and everything you could possibly need. Here is a list of what is available withing 1/2 mi: Papa Haydn's, Yukon Tavern, Iron Horse Restaurant, Dairy Queen, QFC, art stores, antique shops, wine bars, ice cream, Starbucks, Marsee Baking, Cha Cha Cha Mexican Restaurant, Sellwood Yoga Studio, Salons, Dry cleaners, the best sushi in Portland, and Oaks Bottom Brewery. Some of the best local food carts are also in the Sellwood neighborhood.

Sellwood/Moreland is one of the premier neighborhoods in Portland, and the home is in the heart of it. Voted the best family neighborhood by Portland Monthly Magazine, Sellwood/Moreland has it all. Westmoreland Park is within easy walking distance, as well as the Springwater Cooridor, Sellwood Park, Oaks Park, and Oaks Bottom wildlife refuge. I'll gladly point you in the direction of all the wonderful activities this neighborhood has to offer. But if you'd rather discover the neighborhood on your own, that's fine too. There is a lockbox with key to get into the unit, and once you're settled in, if you have questions about what is around the neighborhood to do or see, just let me know.

Portland is known for its public transportation. It has some of the best in the country. Two bus lines are within one block away. The 19 will take you directly downtown, and it only takes about 10 minutes. Cost is about $2.40. It's a great deal.

Pets are welcome! The fee is $5/day. Just consider the pet as one additional person and the fee will be automatically added.

This fully furnished home is one half of a duplex and is available for monthly rental at a discounted price. If you have any questions about it please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

Interaction with Guests

I won't disturb you but if you need anything at all please don't hesitate to ask!

The Neighborhood

I love all the great restaurants, shops, stores, coffee shops, and even a movie theatre nearby. All within easy walking distance.

Getting around

Public transit is very easy! The #19 bus goes right by the house and will take you directly into downtown Portland. Cost is about $2.40 round trip. Travel time is about 15 minutes.

Other Things to Note

Out of respect for the guest in the basement apartment, please keep noise levels reasonably low. Much appreciated, thanks!

  • John's place was indeed beautiful and really cozy. However, an otherwise nice place was marred by a less than clean shower/tub. As indicated in his review of us, we immediately called John upon arriving and he arranged to have someone there in the morning to replace the shower curtain and scrub the tub, although, since our stay was only one night, it would have been nice to have someone there that evening to replace the shower curtain (we arrived around 6PM).

We lived in Sellwood for 3 years and just recently moved out of the area, so we know how much mold can quickly grow in some of these older homes. It is however, very manageable if you stay on top of it.

So I'm only deducting 1 star from an otherwise 5 star review because of the mold issue. I'm guessing that because of John's responsiveness and apology, future mold will not be an issue.

  • Although we never met John in person (busy experiencing all that PDX had to offer), the house was clean and cozy. All the necessary amenities were there and we were more than satisfied. Nice touch with the bottle of wine!

  • John's place was wonderful. This was my second trip to Portland and John's place was perfect! Six of us stayed comfortably and the house is in a wonderful neighborhood near shops (with vegan options!!) and public transit. I would definitely return!

  • The house was clean and comfy, and John was very easy to coordinate with. He checked in to make sure we'd arrived and had everything we need. Easy stay!

  • John's place is a wonderful spot to stay for a visit to Portland. The house is beautiful and in a nice, relaxed neighborhood. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, everything about the environment is very welcoming. Transport to downtown is simple and quick. John was very accommodating and responsive. Thanks for a great stay!

  • This house is really beautiful and in a great neighborhood, which has easy access to everywhere else in the city. We had a really great time, and John was really easy to communicate and work with.

The only (potential) drawback is that when the listing says that the downstairs neighbors can hear you, that's really true. This place is perfect for people who are probably going to turn in by 10 anyway. I'll definitely return if I go to Portland with a group like that. I was with my college girlfriends who all wanted to stay up late chatting and catching up, one of whom doesn't really have an inside voice, and I felt bad for bothering the neighbors and kept having to tell other adults to shush, which isn't quite ideal. But the house is so great and John so helpful that it's still a 5-star experience.

  • This beautiful home was everything and more, comfort, cleanliness, and style.
Location was top notch for us, walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, antique shops, even all banks.
John Farley was so easy and fast to respond to any questions I had about our stay with him, I recommend this home and owner to anyone that will be in the SE Portland area.
We would enjoy staying here any time we are visiting Portland. It's a home away from home~ kind of feel.

  • The house is as beautiful as the pictures and John was a very caring host. Communication was good and he responds quickly to any inquiries. This was our first visit to such a big city so the city sounds took a little getting used to. The house is located just off SE Milwaukee Ave. which is a main vain, so there is commuter noise in the mornings and evenings - earplugs help if you want to sleep in. We love that John is a pet friendly landlord - our daughter lives in Portland and has a dog, so they were both able to come visit a little bit. There is a small rental apt. downstairs, so it's necessary to be mindful of the downstairs neighbors if someone is in residence. We enjoyed our visit to Portland very much and look forward to coming back again soon - Thank you John!

  • John (email hidden)enty of room at his house, in a nice quiet area, and the bottle of wine was a lovely touch. Would gladly stay with him again.

  • Staying here with my family was a great experience! The home is as beautiful as it is in the photos, but what really exceeded my expectations was John's attention to detail: purified water in the fridge, plenty of coffee, bathroom supplies, and a bottle of wine. We really appreciated everything. John was prompt in his correspondence, and he kindly accommodated an earlier check in time for us. I highly recommend this home!
