Some of the best local food carts are also in the Sellwood neighborhood.

  • Staying here with my family was a great experience! The home is as beautiful as it is in the photos, but what really exceeded my expectations was John's attention to detail: purified water in the fridge, plenty of coffee, bathroom supplies, and a bottle of wine. We really appreciated everything. John was prompt in his correspondence, and he kindly accommodated an earlier check in time for us. I highly recommend this home!

  • Our family of five arrived in Portland after a long scenic drive, starting in Seattle and passing through Mount Rainier National Park. Stepping into this inviting home after a long day of driving and hiking was a great relief. John was very responsive to our messages before arriving, and everything we needed was right there when we walked in the door. I wish we had more time to spend in Portland and see this amazing town, especially with this cozy home as our base of operations.

Sellwood/Moreland is a great pocket neighborhood. We ate at Pizzicato our first night (highly recommended) and shopped at the QFC for our next night's dinner, which we made in the well-accoutered kitchen (Look for the QFC club card in the kitchen to get in on the store discounts). I only wish we had time to try some of the other great eateries in the neighborhood. Next time we are in Portland, we'll be looking to stay here again.

One thing to keep in mind while staying here is that there are tenants downstairs and next door as well. The other tenants were great, but we had to keep an ear out to make sure the kids didn't get too loud.

Thanks John for a great stay!

  • This is a lovely house in a great neighborhood. It is walking distance to restaurants and very quiet. John left us a bottle of wine and had Peets coffee (best coffee ever) for us.

  • For real though, I want to move to Portland and live in this space! I really enjoyed my time in the Beautiful City Home in SE and would highly recommend it to those visiting Portland. It would be especially great for a group of folks, since there are multiple rooms, beds and lots of space. The entire home was well kept and clean, exactly as advertised in the photos. The Sellwood area is nice and neighborhood-y with everything you could need nearby. Definitely take John's suggestion and walk to Papa Haydn's a few blocks away for dessert - so tasty! The house is comfy and the perfect spot to relax after a long day exploring Portland. I so, so, so appreciate John's willingness to work with my husband and I during our trip - he was super responsive and pleasant to chat with. I especially appreciate John's willingness to let folks travel with their pets - something that can be really hard to find! Our dogs enjoyed Portland almost as much as we did :) I'm looking forward to staying here again on our next trip to Portland!

  • John was very easy to communicate with before we even got to Portland. I mentioned that we would be flying in early morning and he was able to get the cleaning person to get the house ready a few hours early. When we arrived we were excited to finally check in and rest a bit. The place was nice and tidy. The house is a bit older but they did a good job remodeling some parts of the house. We did notice that John rents out the lower basement area which is also a cool apartment he set up as well. Parking in the neighborhood is pretty easy as well. Also the drive way is first come first serve basis. Everything is fairly close from this location and the SE area has a lot of cool restaurants and bars as well.

  • John was a great host. The house was clean, quiet and spacious for our group of four. The neighborhood is everything it's said to be and nothing in Portland is more than a short ride away. I would highly recommend booking with John.

  • Great place. Comfortable and quiet. Would definitely stay again. John was extremely accommodating and responsive. He even turned on a dime and got us an iron when we were pressed for time. Whole experience was top shelf.
