About This Listing
Spend your vacation in gorgeous brownstone Brooklyn, just steps from cafes, coffee shops, parks and the transit system. This is the perfect apt for grandparents visiting their Park Slope families, couples and families with a baby.
Bright in the morning, quiet and private in the evening (those are windows up top), the bedroom boasts the World's Most Comfortable bed. Note the detailing on the ceiling in the kitchen.
Located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, just steps from cafes, coffee, the subways and Prospect Park, this parlor floor on tree-lined 4th Street has old-world charm with a modern twist. You get brownstone detailing (ornate mahogany woodwork, pocket doors) but with modern, high-end kitchen appliances (Bosch dishwasher, convection oven, etc).
Impeccably maintained and clean with all amenities including dishwasher, a deck off the quiet bedroom (in the back of the apartment so when you wake up you will hear birdsong, not street noise), and a wood-burning fireplace.
New York Magazine named Park Slope the best neighborhood in New York. You will be perfectly centrally located: the apartment is near 7th Avenue, just steps from coffee shops, grocery stores and restaurants, 2 blocks from Prospect Park and a 5-minute walk to the F train. Prefer other trains? The B/Q and the 2/3 are 10 minutes away and the bus stop is a block away.
This apartment also boasts what friends have dubbed The World's Most Comfortable Bed. Queen-sized, feather duvet, pillows, etc. Bamboo sheets.
There is also a small room with a crib in it, which is perfect for young babies who aren't crawling yet (we haven't safety-proofed our apt).
We travel a lot and many, many people have enjoyed staying in this darling apartment. We only ask that you be quiet, responsible and don't wear shoes in the apartment!
Interaction with Guests
Very little. Only to meet to hand over keys.
There aren't many house rules, except no shoes in the apt (nice for the downstairs neighbor, really nice for the rugs and floors).
Feel free to enjoy teas, coffee, condiments in the refrigerator. All dishes, sheets, towels are yours to use and/or enjoy.
Feel free to cook in the apartment. You should find everything you need within the cupboards.
If you ever have questions while on your visit, you can call me at anytime and I'll be happy to help you out.
The bedroom is on the back of the building. Wake up to birdsong. Have morning coffee on your private deck.
Julyne was an incredible host! Communicative, kind and generous with sharing her beautiful brownstone apartment. The location is perfect - a short walk to the subway and a beautiful tree lined street. We loved having our breakfast and reading books on the sweet, bird song filled balcony out back. The bed was fantastic, bathroom and shower great, incredible vintage decor, and neat, tidy and clean. It's a quiet neighbourhood but with busy, interesting and cool streets just a block or two away. My husband and I stayed at Julyne's place for our honeymoon and it was a perfect fit for us. Julyne communicated everything so clearly and was very kind and generous with everything. We will definitely stay here again! Thanks so much!
Julyne was a fantastic host. I greatly enjoyed staying at her apartment with my husband. The 19th-century townhouse in which her first-floor apartment is located is beautiful, and architecturally typical of the historic Park Slope neighborhood. I found her home very welcoming and was immediately at ease in my surroundings. I found her bed quite comfortable. The apartment is spacious for a one-bedroom in NYC and has very high ceilings. I also loved her bohemian-chic vintage Victorian decor. (And she had lots of great books and magazines to flip through as I drank my morning coffee or wound down before bed.)
Park Slope is by far my favorite neighborhood in Brooklyn, and one of my favorite neighborhoods in the entire city. It feels very European. The neighborhood is full of great restaurants, coffee/tea shops, bars, boutiques, and numerous grocery stores and bodegas are nearby. The neighborhood also abuts the second largest park in NYC after Central Park, and it was designed by the same urban planner. It is less flashy than Central Park, but also far less touristy and feels less urban. It's three miles in circumference and is great for walking, running, cycling, or rollerblading, and playing sports on the green (there is a baseball field at the south end). There are also many wooded paths inside the park.
Julyne's apartment is situated right in the center of Park Slope, so it is in close proximity to everything this fantastic neighborhood has to offer.
I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to meet Julyne, who was very warm, friendly, and accommodating. I come to NYC frequently, and I hope to stay at Julyne's place many times in the future.
The apartment is in an excellent location, is very liveable and well maintained with all of the conveniences anyone could want. We would recommend it highly.
I booked Julyne's apartment on behalf of my parents who were visiting me and NYC for the first time. They couldn't be more happy. It was a beautiful apartment and they absolutely loved their stay. Julyne was a great host. She was going to be gone during their stay so we arranged to meet so I could get the apartment keys. Everything was great. My parents loved the apartment and the area. When they return, they definitely want to stay again.
We had a wonderful stay at Julyne Derrick's apartment. It is stylishly decorated and a very comfortable space. The apartment is located within easy walking distance to both the subway and shopping. There is a delightful, small deck at the rear. A great place to leisurely drink a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. From the friendly notes to the vase of pink roses we felt welcome.
If you are looking to experience a great stay in the Park Slope area... then look no further. This is the place...
We stepped thru a door into the most amazing parlor apartment. Everything you could ask for... spotlessly clean, neat, great bed, modern kitchen, lush towels and linens. There is nothing missing at all. Step thru the bedroom onto the balcony and we were treated to a beautiful garden. Out the front door and you are a few steps away from shopping, restaurants and Prospect Park.. Back in the apt, you will, as we were, be mesmerized by the art, antiques and eclectic decor. Staying at Julyne's was an amazing experience,
While we didn't meet Julyne on this trip, everything was coordinated, keys left and a warm welcome note inviting us to make ourselves at home was found.
We are planning to return.. And soon.
