From our house the bus stop is about a 5 minute walk. We are on the 216 bus route which is very regular (every 30 mins) and this will have you in the city within 20 mins. It will have you in Douglas village within 10 mins (lots of restaurants, pubs, cinema, two shopping centers) Cork airport is a 10 minute drive (€18 approx taxi fare) I can provide your transport to or from the Airport for €12 depending on the time. Please feel free to ask.
If you are arriving by train into Kent station the bus stop is about a 20 min walk and if you are arriving by bus into the main station our bus stop is a five min walk away. No uphill walking involved. (if you are not a keen walker you can get a taxi from the train station to our bus stop on South Mall for about €8 I'd say)
There is also a mini village just a 2 minute walk from the house (pub (also serves food), restaurant, supermarket, doctor, dentist, gym, hair dresser, beauty salon, barber, chemist)
The area is a nice quiet family area, very safe.
Breakfast is included in your price. There will be fruit, cereal and tea/toast.
Evenings meals can also be provided at a rate of €45 per week.
We no longer have a dog. This is a pet free home.
Our home is unique because I go the extra mile for my guests, you WILL feel at home immediately !

Ann-Marie was a wonderful host. I had just moved to Ireland to start a new job so I needed a place to stay temporarily. Ann-Marie was very accommodating. She gave me advice on everything from buying a car to navigating Cork, allowed me to use her kitchen to cook, and even made dinner for me on the first night. The room is spacious and clean, and I had a bathroom to myself. I especially enjoyed talking with her daughter in the mornings and playing with their puppy Pippin.
Though we didn't stay with Ann-Marie long (we had a change in schedule and wound up staying in Cork city-centre), I will say it was lovely to meet Ann-Marie. She was very cheerful and welcoming. It was hot on the day of arrival, and she was sweet - bringing us some ice water. The room was lovely, and as described. Very clean and neat.
Ann-Marie was easy-going when we informed her of our change in plans and was kind enough to call us a cab.
The one thing we found was that the location was very suburban. There was not really much within walking distance, save for a strip mall. The bus stop was a bit of a hike and bus service was infrequent. We tend to like to be on the go - but have the ease of returning if need be, to rest or clean up before heading out to dinner or the pubs. If you like day-tripping to Kinsdale, Cork, Blarney, or Cobh and do not need a place within walking distance to attractions or historic sites - this place is well-suited!
Our bus service is every 30 minutes. From the train station there is a 15/20 min flat walk to our bus stop, from the main bus terminal it is a 5 minute flat walk. No hikes involved don't worry. Accommodation for two people within strolling distance of the city sights won't come at a price as low as ours. ;) Or as nice! Previous guests have seen the sights in the city and beyond with no problems.
My stay in Cork was outstanding and I attribute a lot of this to my time with Ann-Marie and her lovely daughter ! I honestly felt within the first evening of meeting Ann-Marie that I was with a long time friend - she has such a relaxed, easy going manner and is incredibly friendly and helpful. Her place is lovely too - the room is large and very comfortable. Breakfast was available in the morning and we spent some evenings sitting in her living room chatting and watching movies. Really, I felt as though I was staying with family or a close friend. Her little dog, Pippin is a hoot and so much fun to play with. The place is a typical, modern Irish upscale community. The bus into town is incredibly easy to get and runs frequently - I never had problems even at night and the bus drivers are really friendly. Taking the bus helped me meet quite a few locals and really get a flavour of Irish life. This was by far the best Airbnb I've stayed in !
We had an exceptional stay with Ann-Marie! We wished we had stayed longer! We felt at home right away, and enjoyed spending time with her. Sitting and talking with her was one of my favorite parts about Cork :) Her advice on what to see while in Cork was great. The location of her home was great as well. A short bus ride away from the city center, but very easy to figure out.
